Saw a few talking about how Chris died or who is responsible. Talking "Chris was murdered"?! HTF would you know? Did your friend tell you? Your many years of experience as a homicide detective?? Or just blowing s*** out of your ass? His family may not read these comments but I bet they find their way back to the family. Don't be that A- Hole.

"A poet is an unhappy being whose heart it torn by secret sufferings, but whose lips are so strangely formed that when the sighs and the cries escape them, they sound like beautiful music... and then people crowd about the poet and say to him: "Sing for us soon again;" that is as much as to say. "May new sufferings torment your soul." - Søren Kierkegaard

What a great quote, I don't know if you are a poet or writer or where you found this but I feel it is so appropriate for most of the singer/songwriters we have lost in the last 20 years. Thank you for posting.

I feel this may be the other way around. As to say a poet is a happy person surrounded by the unhappiness of the world. One soul can only take so many abominations before it reflects the things around it

truth.... especially with regards to this song. Askin him to sing this song over and over likely had an effect to sink him deeper and deeper into the despair that led to the composition of this beautifully tragic piece.

Fortunately, my parents did not. Some wounds will never heal. Thank you for sharing your music with all of us Chris, and thank you Chuck for being my big brother. God bless you both for eternity.

I prefer this version. His emotion, the way he emotes, the way he sits in the stool, the way he strokes the strings on his guitar, the way his face is blackened out, the intimacy I feel from this man delivers a beautiful message about the song that he is singing. I listened to this during the eclipse and it made me feel like I mattered and didn't matter at all..and that all things matter in the grand design. The blackhole sun purifies me.
@soniadavis69592 жыл бұрын
Actually, "Black Hole Sun" signifies heroin drug use. It's the very moment when the drug is injected intravenously and goes person sees nothing else but what looks like an eclipse of the sun b4 they feel ecstacy from their injected dose and black out!!

Whenever I get depressed I go to Chris. He knew how I feel every time. Every time it’s there. Songs that don’t make sense with meaning in the feeling. Sad tears in my eyes-tears that don’t come out anymore. Feeling in my gut that just won’t go away. People thoughtlessly taking not giving. Entitled depravity. Selfishness in the center. Ugliness. I have been crucified with Christ.

They had great names (and it's rare) with significant and simple meaning (thanks to Chris) and amazing songs that sounded like no one else. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. I was fortunate enough to meet Chris about 10 years ago at the music studio I was interning at. He was performing a solo show in Cleveland that night so he came to record a podcast for AP Magazine that was upstairs from the studio. He was very friendly. I shook his hand and told him I love everything he's done. I sat and listened intently as he spoke about his life and the history of grunge/his entire career. It was magical. He was a magical person. Such a goddamn shame we lost him. RIP to one of the greatest voices/artists music has ever known.

P.S. in defense of Fola Romero: People, can you not appreciate the masterfulness of this song despite the low video resolution? Grow up and look past it to Chris' brilliance! Fola, thanks so much for posting this.

Artist are always drawn by the life of pain, it’s the only way we can ever deal. Just ask Hemingway. A man like this gave life meaning. A true artist

Chris’s voice is so beautiful but breaks my heart. His voice, for some reason, makes me think that this is what Heaven sounds like.

I was in my mid-twenties when "grunge" rock started in the early 90's. I listened to a few of the bands - Soundgarden was one. It was his voice that sold me on the band. So much power, range, and it hit home with me. Then it was the lyrics, and finally the music itself. Well time goes on and things change - I lost track of time and Chris' music slipped away from me. I'd only recently re-discovered him, going back through Audioslave and finally his solo work. I never thought his passing would affect me the way it has. Thank you, Fola, for sharing this with us. It means a lot to many of us.

My idol is gone, there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that I haven’t missed him and the potential for future songs and albums, by god I cried when he died, I still cry when I hear certain songs of his because he touched my soul through his music like he did several others, he was by far one of the best singers the world has ever heard or ever will heard

Thank you Mr. Chris Cornell. Hope you are making music on the other side as well. I wasn’t born when this song came out, but I can relate so much through his singing and the lyrics. Get goosebumps every time I hear this song or play it on the guitar.

I was a 90’s teen. My then bf loved this song when it came out. Until today I’ve never bothered to actually listen to the lyrics though I know then by heart. Chris was a talent unmatched. His death was a tragedy. We needed many more years with him. All the greats are taken from us too soon. I hope I get to meet him in Heaven. RIP amazing man.

Chris was awsome in all those bands and in solo. Both bands were 2 of my favourites bands of alltime. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7ChoNaJyZ61eGg.html&t
