If you understood it well could you explain the last part with the torching? Like couldn't he just let the car go down off the jack stands and then torch it? Hope that makes sense.

@@flamestar557its torque not torch lol. if you do it with truck on the ground instead of with the jack on the diff then the tires are in the way of you trying to torque the bolts.

@@tubeyouxer this is an honest statement (not biased because its his video) but i think chris's is better just because he went into way more detail, ie. the rust reform, my teacher mostly just gave us a sheet from a site called ALL DATA and pretty much told us to go do it (and we did it on rusty AF chevy astro vans which made the job 2x harder than it needed to be cause i dont think those springs have ever come off before)

Ford has a recall for their piston return springs on the Ranger. It's been know to contaminate the blinker fluid during winter conditions while there are auroras and Jupiter is in the 7th house.

technically rust isn't so much the salt, it's more so undried water and salt creating a solution on the metal of the vehicle's frame. Not saying this is Chris's fault but usually it's when you don't wash your vehicle thoroughly after the winter months and that salt becomes damp from road water in the rainy months and it rusts the metal frame. Again this is most likely NOT Chris's fault since we know his love of cleanliness this was probably pre-existing but it's best to watch your vehicle even in non snowy states. California actually has BAD salt issues especially for those on the beach, the salt water on the breeze eats through the paint of vehicles and destroys them

Cicero First of all he diagnosed it wrong. The only reason he bought the aftermarket leaf springs is because he thought that they were broken. That is ridiculous. Ford Rangers and Mazda B series pick ups along with the Ford Explorer is based on the same chassis were known for broken shackles. Any amount of research on the Internet you could easily find this out. Especially if you own one and think you have knowledge of how to work on cars. Secondly when he took off the tire and remove the leafspring The axles should have had support underneath it. It was hanging by the shock observer and the sway bar. Now because not every pick up has a rear sway bar this could lead to potential he dangerous situations especially in a to Tutorial. The shock absorber cannot be trusted to hold the weight of the axle. In his case it probably would have been fine if there was no sway bar because he’s shocks were newer. But people watching that have a truck like this may not Nice enough shocks. They could easily break and drop the axle on to somebody. Not to mention giving specific torque specifications for what is supposed to be broad tutorial for many vehicles. Someone could also easily watch this video and install the shackle bracket incorrectly. Nowhere in the video does he touch on orientation of the shackle bracket. I have a 1996 Ford Ranger that I did the same exact project on. My shackle brackets were in the opposite direction Of what is shown on the video. If someone installed theirs in the way that is shown in the video but it is supposed to be the opposite it could potentially lead to failure. This is a complex project and there is many more things that he should have covered but he didn’t probably because he didn’t know or think about it. This is why I do not like him. He claims that he knows all of it but if you watch his videos with any amount of knowledge about the subject you can easily find his flaws. I am not a person who would care if he just did it to his own vehicle. You can go ahead and make your own mistakes on your own vehicle. But you should not be putting out tutorials if you don’t have any idea what you’re doing to begin with.

ChrisFix's videos will probably help you more than school, in the long run! Keep at it, though!
