Christensen Arms replaced my Ranger 22. The factory target they sent with it at 50 yards showed amazing accuracy with Norma TAC22 ammunition. In this video I decided to try all of the brands of Norma
Norma TAC22 Black Box
Norma TAC22 Red Box
Norma TAC22 Subsonic
Norma Match 22
Norma Extreme LR
All test were conducted at 50 yards i n38degree weather with 11-13mph winds.

Glad to see you back and healthy! I have a Ranger too. Out of the box new it wouldn't feed or eject reliably or hold a sub MOA group so I sent it back to Christensen no questions asked. Their customer service was excellent. They tuned it up for sure, fixed all the issues and bedded it. I have shot .2's and .3's five shot groups at 50 yards with premium ammo. Like yours, my cold bore shots are normally high and left. It also takes about 6 rounds to settle in when I switch ammo brands. Unlike Josh (ha ha ha) I'm not gonna be blowing on a straw so I'll live with the cold bore flier. I don't like the floppy bolt handle at all. Christensen said they were all like that (at least at that time). It shoots pretty well so I'll live with it. I took the Ruger 10 round mag apart and polished the feed ramps and reduced the spring tension so it feeds more smoothly. I can really feel a difference. I've had zero issues with those mags before or after I modified them. My Ranger absolutely HATES Norma Tac 22 black box. Hates it! That stuff shoots a pattern from my rifle, not a group. 🙂

Glad you're on the mend, didn't know you were down. I'm excited to get to the range and test my CZ 457MTD since I got the barrel back from 300 Below for a cryogenic treatment. Hopefully it will eliminate that cold barrel flier. Had my precision long range groundhog 40X rifle done years ago and it still drills. Like Josh, we both live in NC and the weather is up and down, temp wise, so hopefully the cryo will help. Great test, Thanks!

Interesting results Eli, thanks for sharing. I switched to tac22 last year as they were the best accuracy for reasonable cash although since the introduction of the long range / match versions, consistence has dropped in the current batches to the point where I will switch again. Early batches were chronographing at 1070 - 1080ish fps, but the latest batch is noticeably a lot quieter, I was shocked to see between 960 to 980 fps, which also calculated correct when rezeroed and cross checked with the 100yd extra moa which needed dialling in. I may be wrong its as though the brand was trying to steer you towards the newer more expensive versions.... Great to see you back on range!

Trade that Norma in on some Lapua Center X. I have been reluctant to replenish my stock of Norma I have just about shot up what I have. Four different lot numbers one doesn't shoot good at all in my RimX. My old Matchmaster seems to like everything as long as it is subsonic. I have to be really loose on it to get a big flier, it has surprised me more than the RimX. My local shop still has some of the black box Tac but I'm not paying ten bucks a box for it I will stick with Norma Shooting USA when they have it in stock.

The half inch group with regular Norma 22 was approximately one MOA. You meant promise of a half inch group at 50, right? Half moa would require no more than a quarter inch group at 50. I don't know of any 22 rifles that promise that out of the box.

Watch your own video and you will see the bolt head is popping up but not as much as the other gun. When it pops up the shot is off usually but you got lucky with one group where the bolt wasn't popping up until the last shot and when it popped up the shot was within the group. I am not talking about the bolt handle but the front of the bolt.

Must be nice. My first one was not repairable, so CA built me a new gun, and it took four months to get it all squared away. Still doesn't shoot as well as they say it does. Turnaround time of four days you say. My Ranger also has four letters and four numbers and had a loose bolt handle. It took 8 weeks and a call to the local distributor to get mine back. Then they would only ship to a FFL so it cost me another $30 to get my own gun back! Everyone else shipped warranty repairs back to my residence. Is it accurate? My Tikka T1x and Bergara B14r will shoot circles around it. Would I buy another CA rifle? Sure would not be close to the top of my list. I don't mine having a warranty issue but I expect the company to answer the phone, send it back in a timely manner the way I shipped it to them and not to have to get their distributor involved.

If I may suggest, your shooting position is not optimal. The cutout in the table, to your left, if you enter it, you will have a better and more spacious platform to shoot from. Where I lost faith in these being normal results for the average customer is when you said they watched some of your videos then decided to replace the gun. Now it may seem harsh but I would tend to guess that you definitely got a cherrypicked best of the best example sent to you as they knew there would be videos done featuring this new replacement rifle. Also you mention a 4 day turn around time and their is a poster in the comments saying it took him like 4 months! Not knocking you or the gun but I would not immediately jump up and buy one thinking they have their commonly reported lackluster across the board accuracy issues squared away. I do like seeing more manufacturers using the same magazines as in this case the 10/22 mags as many brands of magazines are getting rather pricey and if you can share magazines among several brands helps with the expense of adding a new rifle to the stable.

Understand your points and noticed that post. I honestly do not think my presence on youtube had anything to do with it as a pebble thrown into the Atlantic Ocean will make more noise than I do with my humble channel. Its people like you in the comments is the reason I do it. I may not have put that across just right. As I was emailing them and because I can be challenged with patience the very net day calling them. When they emailed me back about getting the rifle back, I felt like I might be doubted and included a list of video's I had done with many different brands of ammo. I am defending them some what yes and will admit to that as the only bias you will find on this channel is to Family Owned American Companies.

@@Dayattherange Do not sell yourself short and I think your videos have a lot more influence than you are giving yourself credit for. It still does not change my position of with you being a you-tuber that will make videos concerning your CS experience and performance of the said replacement rifle that you perhaps received expedited service and response along with a hand chosen best possible replacement perhaps not aligning with the average customers experience. I as well always will be rooting for the little guy home grown companies but at the same time they do have to be held to the same quality and customer service standards for ALL of their customers as the other guys as well. Love your content and attitude in general. But as far as this rifle I think you have been given an example that will make the brand shine which it is nice to see that is possible as well. But for the average guys experience you would need now to just buy a 2nd new example off of a dealers shelf and lets see how another example out of the box fared accuracy wise, whether it was more like the original gun that was sent back or what I call the cherry picked replacement. How's that for a challenge for Day at the Range?😁

Ranger 22s don't shoot. I have never seen one capable of match accuracy. 50 yard groups should be a ragged hole. Sell the rifle, it will waste any ammo you shoot through it. Norma's ammo is very disappointing due to high SD numbers. There Extreme Long Range ammo is all marketing and its performance doesn't live up to the hype. Don't mean to be a wet blanket just disappointed in some of our suppliers. Keep your powder dry.
