I like how the car has so much personality despite being, you know, a car. You can tell when it's pissed off or sad or in love. Little things like the guy ashing on the seat makes you cringe cuz you know the car is gonna be furious.

@@svasianfilipiname6603 They were also death traps. I mean like really bad to be traveling in in case of a crash. The rough edges of the dashboards were known to cave in skulls of the passengers even if they wore the rudimentary seatbelts. Rear seat passengers could get their skulls gashed into by the spikes holding the rearview mirrors. In 1957 there were 46,932 deaths in traffic on U.S. roads. In 1969 there were 53,543 dead. Meanwhile just 11,780 American soldiers died in Vietnam(!). So there were almost five times as many dead in traffic in the USA than American soldiers being killed in action in Vietnam. And the "want to look like a jet fighter" does look rather gaudy today. A vulgar era which makes the worst part of the 70's and 80's blush.

@@Your2TiminEx It was only George LeBay in the movie. In the book, it's Roland LeBay who sells Christine to Arnie, and George LeBay is Roland's brother. Roland in the book is pretty much as you see George portrayed in the movie, but you learn considerably more about him in the book as an extremely angry, bitter, vengeful man. Will Darnell said of him in the book, "If you gave him boiling hot coffee, he'd piss ice cubes." George LeBay, on the other hand, is very different, a kindly schoolteacher who was ashamed and even a little afraid of his older brother, Roland. I honestly don't understand why Bill Phillips changed it to George, and the movie left me mostly disappointed because I love the book so much because the character development of both Dennis and Arnie was severely lacking, and because it was portrayed as Arnie actually driving the car at the end, instead of the dead spirit of Roland the entire time, including the final confrontation in Darnell's garage. The only scene that I really liked (also completely different from the book for exactly which ones were killed and how, though) was the killing of Buddy Repperton and Don Vandenberg.

The reason why Christine was the only red model on the assembly line is because of a process of Unusable Parts. This would happen if a assembly plant used too many certain body panels(in this case white) so they used spare parts which were usually blue, tan, or red, red was the rarest of spare parts used. After a assembly makes a car or two in spare parts, they use white parts again that have recently been imported. This was not very rare back in the day for small automotive companies like Plymouth.

Leonard Halbert the Plymouth Fury was not available in Red, only white with gold trim. 99.9% of the Christines you see at shows, on TV or other places are Savoys made up to look like Christine. They made 3000 Furys in 58 and not many were left by the time this film came out and even less are around 40 years later. They were a limited edition car and only available in one color, white. It’s the equivalent of going to your local Dairy Queen car show and seeing 20 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Demons. I guarantee that most, if not all of them are fakes.

That was what the final scene hints at. As they walk away, they hear a song that Christine would play, but it’s just a worker with a boom box and they walk away. The camera zooms in on the crushed block that used to be Christine and you can see the metal start to move, indicating that Christine ain’t dead yet. While it would be unlikely that Christine would have enough time to restore herself before she is melted down, there is a chance that her spirit could possess whatever is made out that batch of molten metal, maybe even anther car.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you're wrong. Darnell's association with Christine actually comes in 1958, but only when "her" owner, Roland Lebay, begins bringing "her" into Darnell's garage to perform service work on the car himself. That's also how Darnell first recognizes the car when Arnie shows up there with "her." This is not speculation, as all of it is mentioned in the book. Also, Darnell's death in the book is much more spectacular than in the movie, with Christine ramming into his house and running him down right there in his own living room! Not kidding about that.

This classic song was so appropriate for such a temperamental demon car such as Christine. Imagine, a line worker putting his hand where it shouldn't be. Up her chassis without permission from the goddess of carnage. It takes a special hand to calm her overdriven gears to allow such.... intimacy. John Carpenter gave us what we all crave. A vehicle capable of making our twisted dreams come true as she runs down her opponents without mercy or remorse. Infinitely a much better choice of vehicle to display the stamp of approval for real car connoisseurs. Whoever drains her oil, better watch how they use the dipstick otherwise, Christine might not be so forgiving as to who changes her lubrication.

From the movie trivia: Horror fans have speculated the unnamed assembly line supervisor who discovered Christine's second victim, and first fatality, was Will Darnell. This is based on the actor appearing about twenty years younger (than actor Robert Prosky), his semi retired automotive background, and Will saying he once knew the owner of a Fury, upon seeing Christine.

I first saw "Christine" on HBO in January of 1986. The thing that I'm most fond of with Christine is the odometer that runs backwards, and generates a rejuvenating power. Last year, I had to have a knee replacement in my starboard knee. Two weeks before the surgery, I took a road trip to Atlanta from Charlotte. If I had been able to take that road trip in Christine, the odometer would have rejuvenated my starboard knee. I wouldn't have had to have the surgery. I also have some iconic dining chairs that I really cherish, they are Early American mate's chairs, distinctive for their guitar shaped seats. Mate's chairs are the original Pizza Hut chairs, and are today hard to come by. Four times a year, I would like to put those chairs in Christine, and make a run down to Columbia and back on I-77. It would be preventive maintenance for the chairs. Some dinner guests I have over are not as kind to the chairs. They might lean back on two legs, push them out from under the table with all of their weight on them, or slouch down in them. Those are three common things that are bad for those chairs. If any of them got their spindles broken, it would definitely be a rejuvenating job for Christine.

My favourite car of all time will always be the Volkswagen Beetle because it looks cute, i know i am quite childish in such things but i don't care, and because of other reasons which would take to long to explain here. But i love a lot of cars from the whole world, so that nobody misunderstands me.
