I had just watched a Continental sketch and wanted to see if there was a behind the scenes video. Wow, there sure was! I was just curious to see the camera person, but wasn't even thinking about the cue card guy and cable handlers also being so involed. Very impressive! I imagine today they'd use a wireless camera, and maybe even a tablet teleprompter above the camera for the actor's lines. It would be much easier for them.

Probably my favorite SNL series of skits aside from the ones where Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch play lovers in a hot tub and Jimmy Fallon can't keep a straight face. One in particular was when Drew Barrymore was guest host. Will's line was "In the distance we heard the pounding of native drums." and everybody starts to lose it. SNL is not this SNL anymore.

at 0:53 ? I think the cameraman had an itchy leg, but he had to keep the camera steady. Scritchyscratching it would have made the camera shake, so he stroked it.

This was some choreography to pull off Not just with the camera but also the cue cards. The man handling the cue cards had to know his exact cues on when to get out of the way so the camera guy can run away.
