4 жыл бұрынThis is the moment in every build that we all wait for. The first real test fire. Not the other things like turning the motor over to build oil pressure and it accidentally catching and starting for a millisecond before you kill it, but the first test fire where you mean for the motor to run for a bit while you check things out.
This was that moment for this 03 build.
This isn't the last video in the series, but I do want to say thank you to everyone who actually spent time wrenching on it. The bulk of this work happened June - September of 2018 and if any of you all have ever been to the South in the summer time you know that it is down right HOT. Despite the heat there was a great crew of my buddies that would come over and help on the project so that we could get it off to the new owner.
I also want to say THANK YOU to all of those who have followed the project here on KZfaq. You are the ones that I spent all this time for and I hope it helps you out on your builds!

Just watched all 50 videos of the engine build. You are good at what you do. This just shows me a few tips and tricks that I will use when I do my 06 5.9 rebuild! Great stuff buddy

Decent. That was a heck of a cloud that came out right near the end tho?? Little residual oil somewhere??

We hadn't put the exhaust system on yet, so it was just exhaust coming straight out of the turbo. It had 125 hp injectors and a super b special turbo (64/71/14)which meant that it would dump some fuel before the turbo caught back up with it.

What procedure do you recommend on a break as k in with all new parts other than crank, rods, and cam? I have heard some people towing heavy right away and others say not to and to drive it without load for the first 100 miles. What do you recommend on break in. I am starting it up this weekend on a fresh rebuild. Thanks!

Watched all 50 videos (awsome info) but I had a question about first start up. With all new parts does a diesel engine need to rev up to 2500 rpm for 30 mins or so like gassers or does not apply to diesels. . Thanks in advance

Hi Luis, We run engines with new parts for 20 minutes at 1500 rpm. Hamilton Cams also has a good little read on their website about breaking in new a new cam. This is particularly important if you are breaking in a new cam, tappets and rings. Thanks for the kind words about the video series! It was a long labor of love to get it done!
