Chuck, you’re one of the reasons that at 50 years old I am working on rebuilding a vehicle to travel the US in. I’d like to express my gratitude for the time and energy and knowledge that you shared with all of us. As a business owner myself, I feel you. Those lines do get blurred. Onto new adventures for you! I just want to say that you've touched my life. When I was having my bus built out, you reached out (went out of your way) to talk with my builder because you thought something was installed wrong. I will always be grateful to you for that. It meant so much to me that you cared that much and didn't even know me! I hope to meet you on the road one day and when I do, you're getting a big, grateful hug! Enjoy your new chapter!!!

It's never easy to let go of something that's been a large part of your life, no matter what shape that piece was. What you do and who you are as a person is greatly appreciated by all of us here. Starting a new chapter of your story isn't for the faint of heart, but as long as you keep moving forward you'll always find yourself on the other side of it.

As someone who used to own her own construction company it’s difficult to treat people decently and fairly while providing quality work and make money. I’m almost sixty now and am also dealing with losses and changes. It never seems to end or get easier, at least that’s been my experience. Hugs 🤗

I feel for you! I owned and operated my own machine shop as a single mom of three. My biggest mistake was hiring family. Family that I had to cut ties with over losing my shop. It was all heartbreaking and I felt lost at sea for a while. Long story. Do I miss my shop? Not anymore. I ended up working in the Space and Defense industry for 22 years. Someone else handled payroll, taxes, estimates and all that shit. I used to hate the bookkeeping part of self employment! I know you'll land on your feet and find joy. You're young , smart and attractive. You won't have any problems at all. I'm sending good juju and positivity, but you won't really need it. ❤

Ran my hot rod / restoration shop for 12 years. It completely burned me out after about 8 years but I just couldn't let it go. Sometimes for the sake of you and the people you live, you gotta know when its time to walk away. Most people will never understand the sacrifice, but that's okay. Just know you did your best and nothing is ment to last forever. Find your next path forward and live on, brother.

I had a very close friend who had to make this kind of decision back 1997, it was very hard for him. I watched how his family greatly appreciated his sacrifice he made. I saw the benefits from that hard choice he had to make, to walk away from his occupation that he loved like no one else did. He was skilled, astounding man, one of the best friends someone could have. Watching him and learning from him made me a better person today in 2023, I still remember one of the thing I learned from him. "Life is short so enjoy the now. Enjoy what you have in front of you. Even if its not what you want. Learn to enjoy the now." What I got from that was things and items will rust and burn up. But memories made will be with you forever. And even though it's been 3 years since he passed I still have those found memories of him. This man was my father, the sacrifice he had to make change my life forever. It's hard, things change, something closes, and something else opens up, so enjoy your new life. You just never know how it can impact those around you. Just like what my father did for me.

You have a gift for communication my friend. You can take that gift with you anywhere you like. I started watching because we had a skoolie growing up in the early 70s. I’m doing some work on my vintage motor home and you have excellent tips and experience. I stayed and watched everything because you are such a warm and genuine communicator. I loved the episodes of you out in the middle of nowhere working on the bus. I would watch all of the travel/build shows you care to produce. I hope you find a space to relax and recharge, and I truly hope I can follow you for a long time, because you have a gift.

13:40 in the bus company I used to work for we had "starting candles", long candles about 1½" diameter that were almost all wick making a flame over a foot high, we popped the intake hose off & let the engine suck flame while cranking. It worked every time & saved killing starter motors & batteries. Much less damage than ether too. Lucas make an automated version called "Flamestart" or "Thermostart" that runs on Diesel that works well & seems reliable, it makes a cute "poomf" sound when the flame lights if you're somewhere quiet enough to hear it. (Offered on euro versions of IH engines and Perkins, Ford, Yanmar, Massey Ferguson among many others)

Out of all of your videos, this is by far my favorite. Oct 23, I gave up my job, my businesses, and my house to stay in a Q7 Audi going. I don't know where. But, my soul wouldn't allow me to live the same life. I have to continue to trust where I'm going. My love for natural healing and being free has called me to be still and flow with the direction of the wind. Now, it's been almost 8 months. I was very successful, but I worked too hard and wasn't free or being who I was. I'm free and still trusting, I'm loving it. It's so far from what I've always been.

I hear ya, on the issue about making a living doing something you really love. Been doing 4wd van conversions for a while. I found the best way is to build it and then sell it, like a piece of art you created. When Somebody brings you something to build for them takes a long time, so much communication back and forth, they want to change something, what's taking so long, Parts on back order etc.. When you build something, if it's not exactly what somebody wants it will be close enough and they can modify it later after they buy it. I find it a lot easier that way. you can still get full gratification for something you worked hard on. Im new to your channel but I think that's what you should do , you're so passionate about it and very very good at it. Continue to do something you love doing. So build a couple or so sell them then hit the road for 2,3,6 months come back do it again. You're still young keep doing itj for as long as you can. That's my plan anyway

So... I feel you, and I want to offer hope. My entire adult life was spent with one particular mission and motivation. At 44, I lost every ability to work towards that mission for various reasons, and I had no idea who I was meant to be after that. The grief was overwhelming at times, and the experience was the hardest of my life. All that said, letting go of that one thing that had captured all my thoughts and energy, allowed me to grow and seek with parts of myself I thought were long gone. I am stronger and more creative and confident. All change is loss, and big change feels like it takes forever and like the pain is endless... But neither is true. This too shall pass.

The Dance by Garth Brooks is good reminder of how special good times and bad times can be. I just found your channel, I I’ll keep following to see what you do next. Always find joy in helping, it’s called servitude, that in itself is a gift. Travel safe

Time is one those things you cant buy or get back. This year i took my first 40hr set job in probably 20 years. While we are broke,we have done traveling and a bunch of museums with the kids. Its been an emotional year for about everyone i know. Head up and embrace the new adventure.

I follow you from COSTA RICA. I wish you the best in your journey and in your life. I enjoyed your videos and still have the idea of working on a schoolie down here to have it at the Tamarindo beach area in our dry Pacific. Thank you very much for what I learned watching you. Good luck Mr. Cassady.

Jesus, Chuck. I hope you’re doing better and finding some peace in your new life. I’ll just affirm the kudos about your knack for storytelling and sharing good information. I respect your filmmaking so much that I linked one of your videos to my son just last night. Hopefully, you’ll stay involved in the craft of teaching and telling your story. Wish I’d run into you while you were in Denver. Take care!

Good luck on whatever next! I was hoping to have you do my roof raise but looks like I’m going to be doing myself with some friends. Sometimes the universe tells us when it’s time for change. Will definitely be using a lot of your videos for my build. If you have a rivet gun, extra rivets, clecos, and anything else that would be helpful for a roof raise I’ll gladly pay for shipping and make sure they get passed on to someone else after I finish my roof raise. I’m starting a KZfaq channel when I start my build. My niche will ultimately be traveling, hiking, national parks, and trying to build a community to come hike with me but I will also be involved in the Skoolie community. I was in tech for 20 years and simply can’t go back. Hopefully see you out there! If you’re in Austin, TX in the next few months I probably have spot you can park for a couple days.

Looking forward to your next chapter. Ain’t gonna lie I was relieved to see you will still be making videos. You have been instrumental in helping us make our bus dreams come true. We seriously couldn’t have done it without you. We have a long way to go still but with you as our guide we are pretty confident! Thank you for all you do for the Skoolie community. Good things will come your way! PS-I can’t believe a network hasn’t picked you up to be a tv show. I could totally see people watching you go around and work on different buses 🚌

Hey there! I just want to thank you for sharing your wisdom on youtube! I've been working on my conversion since 2018 I think, still working on it. I'm self employed electrician. [31 yrs] I'm running low on energy myself physically, but still "plugging away"! [no pun intended lol]. You have accomplished a lot! And you have learned a lot too! Enjoy the sabbatical! Re-charge, get nourished! I know you'll do great whatever you do! God bless you! AL from CT

Out of all the videos, I feel this one the most. You can see in your other videos how much you love what you do, and this just proves that you’re as human as the rest of us. Moving on can be scary, but I believe that you’re loved by all your followers and will always have the support of those that have followed you and appreciated the love, heart, and sole into converting something that wasn’t supposed to be a home into a home. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you!

Hugs to you Chuck. It's tough at the beginning of a season of change. I find myself in that place also. Just bought a bus a couple of weeks ago, I qm sure I will be reaching out for your assistance with solar system. Hope to see you at Skoolie Swarm in Feb.
