It’s a Brosnan film. Nobody expected these movies to make logical sense. That’s not why people watched him. His Bond films were my least favourite for that reason. At least some of the Roger Moore outings made some sense. Brosnan’s films were basically down to a formula. Bond has an action scene, making a silly quip that leads into the titles. Bond gets his next case, maybe gets it on with some random woman, insert quips, action sequence, quips…and so on. Sure, you could argue that’s James Bond, but after Goldeneye, it’s just repetitive. Other Bond films could get that way, but not to the extent that they were made for 13 year old boys. They were like bad Marvel movies. It’s a shame a strike prevented Dalton from doing a 3rd film because he was the Bond of the novels. Quips only when necessary. Like the early Connery films. Those are the ones I watch. I’ve probably seen the sex scene in this about 10 times more than the actual movie. Which is one and done. Awful movie. Brosnan actually made Johnny English and Austin Powers obsolete.
@shnick19908 жыл бұрын
Actually, many fans would agree that Brosnan was great as Bond, the only problem being that he wasn't given much to work with after Goldeneye.
@jenniferschillig37683 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it kind of surprised me that he said fans don't think much of Brosnan as Bond. It's always seemed to me that they mostly liked him, even if they felt that some of his material fell short in places. In his best movies, he managed to pull off more serious moments than Moore did, while also keeping a light touch in places. Still, I'd have loved to see him in a remake of On Her Majesty's Secret Service...if he'd played that ending with his own experience with loss in mind, it could have been devastating.

@@ricardocantoral7672 Well, there were plenty of places where he did. His shock at seeing Alec Trevelyan alive, his sorrow over Paris Carver's murder, his connection with Elektra King and clear sadness at her betrayal. It's only the last one that didn't really have any deep character moments. But at the time, the producers weren't really confident enough to really plumb Bond's depths completely as Daniel Craig's movies did...hence, such actions as having a character like Christmas Jones to The World Is Not Enough just so the movie can end on an "Oh, James" moment, instead of Bond and M reflecting on Elektra's betrayal (the kind of ending a Craig Bond movie would have had). I love TWINE, but its main problem is that it has a split personality.

Sadly after this film, they didn't make any more novelizations of the Bond films.

The ground pressure of a hovercraft is spread over such a large area that it is too low at any one spot to trigger a mine (Most of the time), especially not anti-vehicle mines which require much higher force to detonate. There is the problem however that hovercraft cannot go up hill beyond the shallowest of slopes. And yeah, this movie sucks.

This one's a guilty pleasure for me. The car I think is still cool, but I am totally on board with everyone who says this was a bad one for Brosnan. Bless him for doing his damndest regardless of which film it was. More Bond movies should strive to be like GoldenEye, that was James Bond done right.

Fun fact: the reason there was no backlash for team america world police? It was one of kim jung ils favorite movies. He actually found it hilarious, even when they made fun of him. His son wasnt so receptive

Kim Jong Un had several doctors executed for trying to put him on diets and outlawed sarcasm in North Korea because he thought the generals were making fun of him (not joking he actually did that) So you can guess from that he has a very thin skin

He said "A going off on a *_vacation_*, so he must refer to either one of the _Christmas_ _Vacation_ films. But then he also said "a place *_far_* *_far_* *_away_*", that must mean the _Star_ _Wars_ _Holiday_ _Special_. ...or both.

When Silver Age James Bond thinks your plot is too silly, you should just quit writing.

Mr. Kill... Sean should have made a Horrid Henry joke, but then again he might not know what that is.

I'm not a massive Bond fan, but Die Another Day really was a turkey of monumental proportions. Its not surprising that the film execs decided on a major re-boot with Daniel Craig and Casino Royale after this farce.

It is a good excuse for foreigners going to a tropical setting with photographic cameras though.

I understand your Rant about the North Korea thing. But my point of view was always that the Movie Theater Chains didn't want to risk it by having people in danger, they are a business after all. So if they get a threat, they have to do the right thing which is to close down. Especially after a few shooting incidents that happened in Theaters in the US. You might hate it, but it's the safe thing to do. Another nice review by the way. When I was a kid, this Movie was *the Shit*! *:D* ............................................... Now it's just *Shit*! *:(*

Him managing to get knighted is probably the least unbelievable thing in the entire film.

I don't know if someone already mentioned it (probably), but Ian Fleming got the name James Bond from the author of an ornithology book. So that almost makes the bird joke better, I guess...
