Something that would be great in these videos about districts is tips on how to place them if planning for related wonders. How to value adjacency bonuses vs chance to build great library, for example.
@Matsie36
@Matsie36 6 жыл бұрын
Tobias Abrahamsson I think, if there is a decent chance that I'd be able to finish the great library that that is worth losing +1, or maybe +2 adjacency. This all depends on what wonder or the odds, but most wonders are worth it, especially the science wonders. Optimally, you plan this before settling a city, or build the wonder in a city that doesn't lose adjacency.
@TheSaxyGamer
@TheSaxyGamer 6 жыл бұрын
I'm likely going to be doing a series on wonders in which I'll discuss things like that actually. Its fairly hard to put a strategy that always works when it comes to wonders, as their conditions are always pretty variable. With the Great Library though, you have to have the campus placed anyways so you'll not really ever have to choose between building it or building a campus.

Could you do a video on the use of workers? For example, if you've planned for a possible culture district in your capital though it's not your win condition, you might get that on a grassland tile at 10 pop along with one of the great ppl that gives extra districts, so in that case it might be worth it to build a farm early on, but what if it's a jungle tile? Are you better of just keeping the jungle tile and clear it just before building the district? Generally, when in the game and on which tiles would you want to get ordinary farms, ordinary mines and perhaps lumber yards? And how often and when should you let city states "help" you with those workers as opposed to building them yourself? And then there's the policy cards, Liang's ability and the Pyramids to consider as well. Awesome videos on your channel, it's great to see a well researched breakdown of how the game works, and what works in the game!

So glad you're still doing content! Found you back when civ 6 just came out for switch but re watching now that it's on ps4 (my main place to game as much as I love my little switch). Why no science in depth video? It's one of the easier victory types to be sure and very straight forward but I have been showing the in depths and these as well as leader spotlights to friends and since science is one of my favorite victories to go for I was sad I couldn't have you run them through that. I've been vetoed from explaining things (apparently I'm bad at it XD) so an in depth for science would be good! Also for me personally an in depth on gathering storm since I'll be playing that soon would be cool! Keep up the great work!

I would REALLY benefit from an instructional video about chopping/harvesting. I have had a tendency to leave forests and jungles for their high per-turn yield, but have discovered most people recommend using Magnus to chop basically everything at every city. At what point does chopping become preferable/when should I harvest/when should I preserve for a lumber mill or quarry or similar? And also related: how often should I be producing (or buying) workers vs. city buildings, especially if everything needs to be chopped?

Good videos. Can you do an overall video on placing districts (as soon as available due to population constraints?) vs. constructing buildings? When should you build the building (as soon as available or build a new district first)? Build all three levels in a district first or build all of the level one buildings on three districts and then the level twos? ETC.

Do you know how the Natural Philosophy policy impacts the science from Korean special campus? Does it multiply the 4, even though it is not really an adjacency bonus? Or does it only multiply the negative adjacency bonus if you put districts adjacent to the Korean campus?

1st Would you suggest to only build campus districts if they get high adjacency bonuses? 2nd How many campus districts to build? like in every single city?
@Matsie36
@Matsie36 6 жыл бұрын
Grizzlywer For me, it depends on the victory type I'm going for. For a science victory type I would place a campus in every city on high priority, but for other victory types I'd place them only with high adjacency or when there's not a more important district to place, for example a holy site for a religious victory.
@TheSaxyGamer
@TheSaxyGamer 6 жыл бұрын
Pretty much what Matsie said, for Science Victory games, I would definitely recommend getting them in every single city. For domination, I would recommend getting them in at least half of your cities, as science is important for keeping your units at equal or higher techs than your opponents. For culture and religion, I normally try to place down a few campuses, but I don't prioritize them and only build them if they have good adjacency.

For me the first district is the commercial district or harbour, second Industrial zone (district). Campus is third most "must have". They are good though, just for me teh trading and production lets me grow faster and build (also campuses) faster...
@joehoe222
@joehoe222 6 жыл бұрын
If you play cultural, then it is wise to do a lot of science buildings as well to get computers quickly. For a religious victory it's not needed that much. For a mlitairy vic it is a good booster to get better units earlier than your opponents, so then I would recommend it, although conquering a science-oriented civ is easier. For a score victory it isn't that great, the points for future tech are way too slim to do so. Science mate!
@timb9828
@timb9828 6 жыл бұрын
In approximately what fraction of cities should I plant a campus if I am going for a cultural or religious victory? Obviously for science and domination, you want to have them in any city which provides a decent bonus

Hello there. I have just been getting into Civ 6, which is the first time i ever played a civ game. I played a good 40-50h now (on vanilla, no DLCs) and i like to play some early war and then try to get as technologically advanced as possible. With this i want to get to artillery, Bombers and nukes as fast as possible because i want a late game domination win. But always as soon as i have just build my first bombers some random faction wins by science out of nowhere which is extremly frustrating. I always try to have maximum production (i always choose germany) and maximum science because i want the new tech as fast as possible. But apparantly the others are ALWAYS faster than me and i dont know why. How can i get new tech the fastest? How can i stop the others from just winning by science out of no where? Would be very grateful for some tipps! Peace

In this example couldn't you get the campus on those mountains surrounded tile for your capital??? I mean, you could rush the holy site, and then for your second district, you could just buy the tile and use the same bônus, right? Is there any advantage to put the campus on you second city?

Could you provide a source for the district cost scaling with your number of cities? I'm aware that district cost scales with techs/civics researched and whether you have fewer or more than the global average of that district type, but I did not know that the cost scales with number of cities.
@TheSaxyGamer
@TheSaxyGamer 6 жыл бұрын
Ah, I was actually wrong in saying that it scales with number of cities, I was thinking of the scaling cost of settlers being based on how many cities you've already settled. If you'd still like a source on what causes them to scale, check out www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/5947kp/civ_vi_mechanics_how_district_production_cost/

The Saxy Gamer Ok, understandable. I am kind of sad though, that would be a bit more incentive to play tall instead of wide.
@TheSaxyGamer
@TheSaxyGamer 6 жыл бұрын
I feel, I loved playing tall in Civ V and really dislike that it is not as viable in Civ VI. At the same time though, the tech cost and policy cost scaling in Civ V was a bit dumb in my opinion. I think that there needs to be some way to buff tall playstyles to make them equal rather than nerfing wide.

How do you know which district to build and when it is time to build them?
@Matsie36
@Matsie36 6 жыл бұрын
Michael Mills This comes with experience, I think. For me, it mostly depends on the victory type and the costs/returns of the district. Before Rise and Fall, this was easier as commercial hubs and harbors were a bit OP, adding a trade route slot by themselves. You'd almost always place those first. As the extra trader now costs a lot more production, this has changed in my opinion. Try to place districts according to your victory type and needs of the city or your empire. Also, try to 'pre-plop' your districts, setting their location as soon as you'd be able to build them and then switch over to what you want to build instead, this saves production as it locks in the district cost. Then you can finish the district as late as you think is right.
@TheSaxyGamer
@TheSaxyGamer 6 жыл бұрын
Its mainly just a feel and experience thing as far as which district and when. As Matsie said, I would recommend planning out your district locations soon after settling your cities so that you know exactly where you want them and how much their adjacency will be. Mods such as Map Tacks can be very useful for doing this. After that though, it really comes down to just deciding what you need in a given game. If you're going for culture, then you should prioritize your theatre squares. If you're falling really far behind on Science, then you should probably place down a campus or two. Its really just a matter of what you have versus what you need.

I believe he either means planning your districts out with pins (so setting their location before you actually place them) or placing the district but only putting in a single turn of production and then changing to something else so that the district's location is set but you can continue to produce it later on.
