It's YG's decision to disband them, not 2ne1.

But as long as we're just making guesses and fantasizing.... Who knows? Maybe YG wants to do some kind of big "YG Family" type of event in the future and wants to invite former YG artists to also attend...like a big reunion. I think YG has also developed a new appreciation for the female artists (past and present) at YG...after many years of giving female artists much lower priority than the boy groups. Blackpink basically changed the thinking at YG. They started under the old system, where girl groups got almost no pre-debut promotions, just got a very small discography and a much smaller post-debut promotional budget than the boy groups....BUT in spite of that they became the biggest money earners for YG in the company's history...even surpassing Big Bang (no shade at all to BB who were dominators in their prime time). GGs at YG are no longer second-class citizens.

I still think he's a controlling misogynistic, control freak. I will give him credit where credit is do, he has a good eye for talent. And he takes his time to fine tune the talent. Other then that I can't stand the man.

iKon's full rights were released by YG. Gummy,BI and Lee Hi are all stage names they have as an artist. 2NE1 and IKON is a brand name thats why they had to wait until the copyrights to the name was given to them by YG also the song copyrights. 2NE1 brand name is the same, they need YG's formal release contract of brand name so they could use it for future album and song releases. And no, YG and CL had never met or had any meetings prior after leaving YG during 2019.

@@TEAM__POSEID0N the former girl CEO of YG was the one who raised the disbandment of 2NE1 to push BP's debut faster and all the songs thereof to be given to them. Thats why under her care, you see a stream of YG artists started to leave 1 by 1. Even Teddy left and made his own label, oh by the way that former girl CEO is also a close friend of Jennie's mom who owns a top korean entertainment agency in korea also. If you think GG's at yg are not mistreated, BP wouldnt be making their own solo labels and now they are enjoying more freedom on their own accord.

the main problem isn't YG, but its more of a board member/shareholder burden as YG just wants to create quality artists but with all the BS a corporate meeting always have conflicts..the control over artists isnt the same as he had as it got bigger and more and more investors came in

Yep. Even though it's very unlikely that YG would try to stop them from using the "2NE1" name (they used it at Coachella...and YG has never blocked anyone in the past from using the name(s) that were used at YG)...they could use a name like "2NE2" or maybe 4NE1...referring to the 4 of them and that they are for anyone.
