Hey Roo, The 8 years since the release of this episode are probably a pretty big indication that there won't be any more 16-Bit Gems. With that, I just wanted to leave a comment (that you hopefully will get to read) to say that for my money you were one of the best reviewers in the whole internet. These episodes were fun, insightful, sollidly edited and really really funny in my opinion. For a couple years you really made me learn and laugh. Therefore, I really hope you are living a happy life and please always know that work you did will stand forever even if only for us few. Thank you Roo.

I just wanna thank you for all the top tier content you provided over the years, something great was achieved here and you deserve applause and praise.

I actually really loved Actraiser 2. I think it's a great action game with difficulty and depth (very comparable to Super G'n'G). I didn't know anything about Actraiser 1 when I first played it, so it may have helped that I didn't have a lack-of-sim disappointment. I went the other way- when I finally played Actraiser 1 I loved the SIM bits, but the action stages were a disappointment for me compared to Actraiser 2. I like both games quite a bit, but for very different aspects. Your criticism of the storytelling is quite valid, I barely even noticed Actraiser 2 had a story when I played it. Also I'm extremely impressed by Actraiser 2's soundtrack. It's a very thick, Wagnerian orchestral sound that I can't think of anything else close to on the SNES. I was really surprised when I found out Yuzo Koshiro did both Actraiser 1 and 2. He has a lot of range as a composer, and takes on a lot of different styles.

The prophecy was true. Long live Roo! In all seriousness, it's great to see a new 16-Bit Gems, let alone on Actraiser 2. Actraiser, as a series, really deserves some sort of reboot or even a spiritual successor. I've heard the title Aztez will be trying something similar, but we'll have to wait and see if it matches the original or its sequel.

1 year for 9 minutes. Not gonna lie, it was worth the wait.

Until now, I had always thought a new 16-Bit Gems episode was a myth, like Atlantis or the Loch Ness Monster. I had heard ancient sages speak of the new episode, and their prophecy as finally come to pass at last. This was a great episode. I hope you cover Robotrek next. That sounds like a fun game.

Seeing a new Gems video posted made my morning. The last game I reviewed was the first ActRaiser, and a lot of people told me that the sequel wasn't worth checking out, but after seeing this video, I think I'm going to ignore there suggestion and hunt a copy down.

It's always nice to see a new 16 bit gems! Although to me, the biggest problem with Act Raiser 2 isn't the lack of a simulation mode, it's just how sluggish the controls are.... If they just took the time to fix the controls and make it easier and more intuitive to play, I'm sure this would have been a much better game! Perhaps even a great game, even without simulation mode!

It's nice to see a positive review of this game for a change!!! (Game Sack dishes out hatred for this game regularly, like they have a quota to fill or something). With practice, you can get very good at this game ... stupidly good. You can land on a dime and cut even high HP enemies down within the space of a few seconds. Amazing music and graphics aside, the control scheme and magic system makes this game so much more interesting than your typical 2D hack and slash platformer. I do miss the sim mode, but IMO the high concept stages and sheer quality of everything else more than makes up for it.

Almost 2019 and still waiting.

This felt more like a game-quickie, but good too see the Gems out.

Really glad to see you back, doing 16-Bit Gems again. Hopefully the next episode won't be too far away. But, you take the time you need. It's your time after all. Also, I really don't think a game being slow is necessarily a negative thing. Castlevania is slow, but, its level design is designed around the pace. Simon's determined strut in Super Castlevania IV is far from fast, but, at least I never felt the need to go faster. It feels rather badass to whip demons to death while simply walking through. The dive attack in ActRaiser 2 at least gives you some option to travel at a higher speed.

Seriously, this is one of the most underrated games, in my opinion. It's definitely worthy of being called a gem. I think it's a solid game with interesting mechanics. It's very unique and gorgeous. Too bad so many overlook it.

I miss this show. Roo was one of the best at this.

4 years...I think the series is over, it may have no reset button, but it does seem to have an off button :(

It seems to me like ActRaiser 2 is less a sequel to ActRaiser and more a sequel to ActRaiser's Professional Mode after you beat the game, since Professional Mode also does away with the city simulation and ramps up the difficulty.

If so, thank you for all the quality entertainment and knowledge from 16-Bit Gems over the years. They remain a favorite of mine and will be watched over and over, as long as they are available.

I got this game for my birthday when it came out. Was kind of disappointing at first, there being no simulation aspect like the first game. Once I got used to the controls, I ended up loving the hell out of this game. Truly, a highly underrated game. The graphics and music are top tier SNES stuff, and the challenge is welcome.
