Many people find that trying to be aware of their breathing can actually make it feel more difficult. The Alexander Technique can help change how you pay attention so it's more beneficial and freeing. This video combines the skills from two previous videos, Direction Sending and Fluid Attention, to the Alexander Technique practice of constructive rest. Clare guides you through a sequence of directing attention through all parts of the body, allowing awareness of breath to rest in the background, periodically freeing awareness into your environment as well. This skillful flow of attention prevents you from engaging habitual tension patterns, and brings about a different, more expansive sensory experience each time you practice. My students find it very refreshing, and I recommend that they practice this sequence once a day until they master it and can do it on their own when needed.
