Well you’re contradicting yourself and at the same time providing the answer to the problem you identified. Saying it’s better to remain single is not any type of reasonable or realistic solution to potentially being hurt. Properly seeing who a person is BEFORE you get with or commit to them is the answer. You don’t know a person until you see who they are in a struggle. Also, you have to hold the other person to the standards you set for yourself. You can’t expect a person to model behaviour you don’t display yourself, yet most people do that in their relationships. Also, finding a life partner is literally something that virtually everyone wants, yearns for, and aspires to gain in their lifetime. There’s a reason for that, so just remaining single out of fear caused by seeing other people fail is a juvenile and self centred way of avoiding one of the MOST important aspects of life and pretending you don’t want and need that is honestly a cowardly way to navigate life.

It doesn’t have to be anything bad, just one person being invested in a relationship far more than the other, yet the invested person carry on as if they were on the same page. I have had friends describe their relationship with someone, and the rest of us wonder what he’s or she is talking about because we see something totally different. You shouldn’t force a relationship where there isn’t one, or take one in a direction it wasn’t meant to go. These things are obvious to most people, but they try to force things anyway.
