Classic Game Room

16 жыл бұрын

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of CYBORG JUSTICE on the Sega Genesis video game console system. Cyborg Justice on the Megadrive is much like Streets of Rage 2 or Double Dragon on the NES. It is a side scrolling adventure beat 'em up action game in the arcade style which allows one or two players. The problem here is that Streets of Rage has far better controls on the Mega Drive than this games does. CGRHD enjoyed Cyborg Justice for a few minutes but it does get repetitive. We'd rather be watching Barbarella, listening to Duran Duran or eating hamburgers (or all of the above at once) The game claims you can build 216 killer cyborg robots with things like power saws, flamethrowers and laser beams but poor, clumsy controls ruin them before you can use them to eviscerate your enemies. Are you looking for the best most exciting 2D side scroller on the Genesis? The Classic Game Room team recommends MAZIN SAGA MUTANT FIGHTER instead of Cyborg Justice, but that's just our opinion. Perhaps you like repetition and using the same controls over and over again on the MD gaming console. If that's the case then the gameplay will be right up your alley. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The reviews on the HD series are reviewing PS3, PS2, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. I remember when my dad took us to a video store and renting this, along with Altered Beast for my Sega. Bought a couple glass bottles of Gatorade and some candy. That night was such a blast. Was so cool when we were little, about 3 or 4 of us kids would sit around the tube tv and take turns playing games together, then we would ride bikes up and down the streets, play some baseball behind my house.

Shit I wrecked guys on this game. Pulling arms off left and right, using my special abilities when enemies were stunned or locked in the magnetic holes. I think I was like 13 maybe 14 and had a hard time with it a few playthroughs then figured out the controls and LOVED it after that.

yeah, the game actually has a huge list of fighting-game style moves you can do...but you'd have to play it quite a bit to get it down.. In many ways it is a game ahead of it's time.

+Tbagging Since 1990 dude. do you remember all the moves? half the people I see play this are missing half of the game! you have to kick the legs back together, lift up the body, slam it back down on the legs, break them apart again. I haven't seen people jump, grab the torso and bash the chest for life, pick up and absorb the torso for life, damn! They miss so much! but the controls are really clunky, I'll give you that.

Clearly the reviewer of this game did not have anyone to play this game with. Teaming up with someone in the arcade mode or kicking their rear in the vs mode was the best! My brother and I burned many hours playing this game and I positively cherish those memories. I will agree that solo mode was something less than inspired but since I had so much fun with this game and the review was rather poor I felt the need to mention how much I enjoyed this game!

This game is one of the reasons manuals are made, once you learn the insane variety of movements at your disposal you will find a very funny game. You can reconstruct the enemies you destroyed just for the fun of destroying them again, steal their limbs, drain their energy to recharge yourself, rip them him half to consume their torso...

I have this game. I don't remember having a manual but I figured out the advanced controls. O used the what I call the bulldozer when you crouch and do like a tackle. When enemies get stuck in that zone that's when you use your special arm. You can even put enemies back together aftet destroying them.

What is this nonsense? This game was AWESOME. And it wasn't difficult at all. I was 11 & I was great at it. How can this guy give a game a bad review just because he sucks at it? I mean come on. An Early 90s Beat em up game with customizable robots! Get tired of your weapon? Rip off the enemy's and use theirs. Running low on life? Tear your enemy in half. Not to mention the 2player was Phenomenal. It was such a New concept to Beat'em ups. It should be against "Reviewer Rules" to give such a unique game a bad review. I never give videos thumbs down because I know a lot of work goes into them. But I have to give this video a thumbs down. And it upsets me that now I have to be "Thumbs down guy" because of you :(

I agree completely. I got this game when I was 8 or 9 and had no problem figuring out the controls. It's such an awesome game. I had lots of fun destroying enemy robots, and putting them back together right before they would self destruct only to destroy them again. Running low on health? No problem, just rip the enemy's head off! Loads of fun. I'm normally a fan of CGR, but this review is disappointing. It doesn't seem like he even played the game for more than 10 minutes.

Mark is more of a humorous casual player with a "voice" than a "pro" reviewer. he tries out a game for a day and makes it into an entertaining video. DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! we all know this is not the way to review a game properly but meh most of us are here for the giggles and maybe some game footage. if you want more in-depth and accurate reviews id suggest to watch his more hardcore counterpart CGR undertow TJ's reviews.

CGR tries *way* to hard to be funny. It's embarrassing. And his voice is nails down a blackboard. He's another lightweight reviewer like Mark TBH. I agree with all the others that this is a bad review. It's a good and unique game. Let's be honest, Mark isn't a gamer. Take his reviews with a pinch of salt. I'm just here for decent game footage on real hardware.

I've never heard of a boss that can not only kill you instantly, but also gives you a Game Over regardless of how many lives you have left. That's some mind-bogglingly bad design, right there. Something called Cyborg Justice with brilliant artwork on the front deserved much more.

The controls are hard to get at, but when you finally do, it's alot of fun to rip off the body parts of other cyborgs. The only unfortunate thing is that the only way to replenish health and get lives is to tear off their torso and "absorb" it or something like that. In order to tear off their limbs the enemies have to be stunned. This game had alot of potential, but didn't get the justice it deserved.

BTW @Classic Gamer Room HD - The actual "Cover Art" was kinda accurate as I think you may have to have a "Saw Blade" hand but you could cut enemies limbs too, & a friend & I were recently talking about it (we barely remember btw, as this was 25+ yrs ago, lol) but we also thought there was a system where u could also then "Use" the parts that you cut off or something. OR thats not in the game at all, lol.

After just scrolling down about half the page of comments, perhaps I may give this game a try...some day. Granted, "controller code games" (like Street Fighter II/Mortal Kombat/etc) were never my favorite gene. "Variety of characters is dull" - Damn right indeed. Easily one of the most repetitive aspects of the gameplay is how enemies always come at you in twos, and one of them ALWAYS has insect body, somersault legs and normal arm. Additionally, enemies get unreasonably tanky from the 3rd level onwards. Like, by the 4th level it takes forever to beat them down; by that point I'm pretty much forced to rely on arm removal followed by torso rip to finish fights quickly. So it does get kinda repetitive in that regard too.

Yeah this game was a bit unexciting. Playing as a robot was cool, the initial thrill of building your robot and then pilfering the enemies' different arms to attach it to yours and use a saw blade or blaster was certainly fun. After a while though, it did turn pretty rote. Also the activation of the arms was occasionally fiddly or unresponsive. Still, buzzsaw arm though.

Its true that the control were a bit complicated and this game wouldve benefited greatly from the 6 button controller. But having played this intensively there i can say that this game was really fun when it came out. The only body part you couldnt swap was your main body but you could steal both arms and the leg from opponents to better prepare for each stage. When you rip a robots arm, you can either toss it or equip it. Then you can next rip the whole body of that robot and it gives you health when you try to equip it. Instead of ripping the body you can use the saw to cut off the other arms which you can also equip to change the look of your robot. When an enemy is down you can also kick its carcass back up to either steal its legs or put his body back on to pummel him down even more lol Playing two player was really fun and me and my brother beat the game multiple time. I wonder how you would rate this game if you reviewed it now since your style has changed a lot since then :P

While gameplay hasn't stood up to the test of time, Cyborg Justice is definately one of my favorite Genesis games. Once you do actually master the controls, this game is great fun. And plus, you can very much beat the bosses to ripping off body parts. =D I wouldn't recommend it to new crowds because of the learning curve of the controls, but this was easily one of my all time favorite Genesis games. If the AI were better, I would still recommend it. But the fact is, this game is too easy.

I played this game back when I was younger. You described it perfectly. I give it 3.6 roentgen. Not great not terrible. It could have been much better if it had better controls. For the special arm weapon, I remember the only good one was the circular saw. You can rip arms off and use them, you can also rip off the torso and that will give you extra health. The issue is, the controls sucked. Clunky. Thanks for the review, it jogged back an old memory.
