Mine as well. That said I'm not much of a C&C guy but this one's still my favorite in the series.

I loved the story. I just fucking loved the story as well as the atmosphere. They tried to recreate it with Tiberium Wars but they just couldn't get neither the story nor the atmosphere.

Indeed it is. The vehicle models are 3D, some of the effects and debris are also full 3D. You can clearly see it in game when, let's say, NOD buggy gets blown up and all its tires jump away after the explosion. When artillery strikes a vehicle, it tilts and jumps up a bit in full 3D, and every model has a bottom, so, even in the unlikely even that something REALLY BIG explodes nearby and the model jumps up high, there's something for you to see underneath. I think they hit a pretty nice balance between using sprites and models. Sprites allowed for nicely detailed buildings and infantry units, while models gave vehicles a pretty good look. Thanks to art consistency, it all looked organic. Going full 3D would've resulted in scenery lacking detail and the game aging terribly in just a couple of years.

I've played Dune 1, too. I've yet to play the whole game, but from what I saw in the several longplays of Dune, I it very much. I kind of wish that someone remade it: a Dune 1000, so to speak.

I've never managed to find a copy of the original Dune game. Otherwise I would've at least tried it out.

More often than not you pretty much fell into one camp or another back then. I was never big on the C&C series and much preferred Age of Empires.

I wouldn't describe C&C as "complex." That said, there are a fair few base-building RTS games out there, but most of them are relatively old. I haven't played all that many of them, but I can at least point you in the direction of some of the ones I'm aware of. You might want to look into the Cossacks series, Empire Earth series, Grey Goo, Warrior Kings series, and the Kohan series, to name a few.

I haven't been able to get into Dune 2000 at all. That might change as I attempt to go through it, but we'll see. As for Dune 2... it's just too archaic at this point. I get absolutely *nothing* out of it. That said, Tiberian Sun's my personal favorite in the C&C series, even though later games are technically/mechanically superior. Take that for what it's worth.

Insurgency, Red Orchestra 1 & 2, Republic Commando, Hidden & Dangerous 2, Deadly Dozen, Takedown: Red Sabre, SWAT 3 & 4, Brothers in Arms series. Couple things to note: 1, you did not specify *good* tactical FPS's, so I just gave you a general list. 2, there really aren't all that many tactical FPS's out there.

Takedown and Deadly Dozen are both awful. Republic Commando and SWAT 4 are mediocre. I've not played much of Brothers in Arms but what I did play wasn't particularly good either. The rest is solid.

Andrej Gamer4Life Giants: Citizen Kabuto is a tactical First person/Third person shooter. It combines aspects of Shiny Entertainment's MDK with some RTS elements, and is damn funny. The gameplay for the first two campaigns, the Meccs and Delphi the Sea Reaper, alternate between missions that involve exploration and RTS base-building missions that combine Capture the Flag with Assault the Base. The Meccs campaign gives you friendly NPCs who follow your lead and shoot when you shoot. Delphi is solitary, but she has very powerful spells which make it fun to take out small armies by yourself. The Kabuto campaign, which plays like King Kong and the Hulk, is not as polished as the first two campaigns, but it helps that eating enemies can increase your health.

o.O oops I think I saw it in my gamedreams on gogcom then :))) But I'm playing C&C3 now, the graphics are still impressive even after playing Starcraft 2 and Dawn Of War III Maybe, I gonna buy that bundle (17 games in one), always liked the GDI.

Starcraft, for one. With 2D RTS's there wasn't really a huge difference once you got past 1998 though.

The Gabriel Knight trilogy, Planescape: Torment, Bastion (though it's fairly minimalistic on how it tells the story), Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, to name a few. Strategy games are just too detached to be conducive to good storytelling.

I have a few names : SOMA , Half_Life, RTCW (bend yourself and try to see something good lol , many were the games of my childhood ;) Soldier Of Fortune 2 Double Helix , Blade Runner , Deus Ex , Far Cry 3 ( and maayybe FC4 , because these have some story , are different from the common shit like gears of war , cod and fifa. ) Watch the video Far Cry 3 Symmetry theory , and from the same guy , the video for the next game in the franchise , far cry 4. , Lucius ....(even me I have to doubt..idk if he deserve totally ) Fallout 1 & 2 (& New Vegas, that's all :) But I did not played , but I seen critique , analysis and I like it , the story and mechanics I mean , nor Planescape Torment , Arcanum of steampunk and magick obscura but I have these pirated from TPB , the GOG versions haha ... hmm , a , The Stanley Parable , Firewatch ,Bioshock ( and system shock of course ) , I have no mouth and I must scream , Fahrenheit451 , Talos Principle , and I don't remember any games now
