That's no big deal. It's a German game that's probably made for a mainly German audience. I have an azerty keyboard and I had to deal with this all the time in the 2000s. The game never detected the different keyboard, so I alwxays had to mess with the controls before starting the game. This is an example when Americans have to do that for once.

Oh it's definitely not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's definitely annoying if you're not familiar with the QWERTZ layout. You AZERTY folks always get shafted though, even to this day.

@@DWTerminator Modern games often seem to be based on the placement of keys, so it doesn´t matter anymore. Unfortunately I usually play older games, so I still need to check this all the time. And that´s where I definitelly agree with your hate for games that immediately drop you into the action instead of into the menu. I already was dropped into games (don´t remember which) with messed up controls. That´s fun...

Yes, suffer! All to often we QWERTZ and AZERTY have to struggle in your QWERTY-normative world. Especially Arrow-Key + ZXC layout games. /rant At least it isn't placement and character bound. I've seen games, though I do not remember which, on which you couldn't use Y or Z at all because while you've pressed the correct key, you didn't press the correct character, because the game for some inexplicable reason expected when pressing Y that the key left to T is pressed and the game is receiving a Y character.

Like I said in the video, I'm fairly familiar with the QWERTZ layout so it wasn't *that* big a deal to me, but it's still a bit annoying, and QWERTZ is actually mostly the same as QWERTY but with Y and Z swapped. It sucks way more for AZERTY folks. It's mostly older games that seem to have more serious issues with the keyboard layout translations... probably due to changes in the way the inputs are called.
