Clean with Me | Quick Clean & Tidy | Blind Mama Cleaning Techniques

Join us for our first "Clean with Me" video. As a blind person and at-home parent, I love the "idea" of clean-with-me videos on youtube. Great music and learning cleaning' tips and tricks from others can be great motivation and honestly just good ol' friendly encouragement to get done the work I need to do around my house. However, as a blind person, the only "clean with me" videos I can really enjoy, are those that are audio-described by the content creator. I have found one channel I LOVE to watch for such motivation, since most of her clean with me videos are audio-described, and that is Jessica with her channel "Keep Calm and Clean".
You get to see the pups a several times during this video, and a few brief glimpses of Evie! We filmed this just before Valentine's Day, so you get to see Evie's school Valentine cards and hear her wish YOU a "Happy Valentine's Day!" as well!
Welcome to our channel! I am a blind mom of two daughters and wife to my husband Devin. I love to share inspiration, joy, creativity, and the reality of growth through the struggle, and through supporting one another. I share lifestyle, craft/DIY, mom-life, disability-awareness, disability-etiquette, and guide dog/service dog related content, videos, and vlogs. Our older daughter, Katie, is neurotypical, and our youngest daughter, Evie, has been diagnosed with High Functioning Autism. We are in the process of transitioning our channel from just Crafty Blind Chick topics to family content and vlogs that incorporate our journey and experiences as a family.

Awesome!!! So glad you’ve joined our channel! I actually REALLY enjoyed filming the cleaning video-I hope to do more regularly, maybe one a week or routines. I’m not sure which!

My least favorite cleaning chore is dusting. I HATE dusting. Lol. I'm so envious of your clear counters. We have so much on our counters because we don't have somewhere else to put it -- KitchenAid, coffee maker, fruit/veggie baskets, etc. Side note: I'm freaking out at your knives being blade up in your dish drainer. :O I always put mine blade down so I don't accidentally cut myself when grabbing them to put away. I'm a klutz. :D

HAHAHAHA about the knives. Devin and I communicate to one another when there’s a knife in the sink or in the drying rack. We keep the knives edge up when drying so the point doesn’t end up dull or damaged and so the water drying off doesn’t pool on the blade. We usually dry the knives right away but if I’m cleaning alone I let hand washed dishes air-dry. I hear you on lack of space for things. I feel like that’s the entire rest of our house other than the kitchen. The kitchen has a LOT of stuff too, but I have most of it in cupboards or the pantry because I LOVE a clear counter. Right now it’s a hot mess because we’re painting walls so the counter is just cluttered with tools and painting supplies LOL. It’s temporary though and the painting is coming along well!

The chore I hate the most? Dusting, laundry for sure, vacuuming because I tend to vacuum up toys and dryer sheets and then the vacuum is on the fritz LOL, so pretty much everything LOL. It has to be done though. I love the way a nice clean house smells. I wear rubber gloves when I clean my kids bathroom! I don’t buy the thick cleaning gloves I just buy the thin little latex gloves the ones that are like surgical gloves. That way I can still feel what I am cleaning. It works pretty good.

Maybe I need to do THAT! I HATE how rubber gloves impact my sense of touch, and I hate how even surgical gloves make my hands get all sweaty and nasty (TMI sorry). But, NOT using them means my hands and fingers are dry and cracked and horrible!

My worse choir is the vacuum, dishes, trash. Basically everything! I just want to chill and watched your videos but always so busy😂 I love watching these tiles of videos or like organizing videos idk... just makes me satisfied. My room is always clean I love organizing tho. Lysm❤️ keep up the good work💞

YOU keep up the clean room LOL!! That’s amazing! I wish I could say mine is always clean. It’s not. 😂. But mostly because I hate hanging dress clothes so I leave them for the husband. We typically have a pile of dress clothes that need to be hung up just hanging out in our room for a while LOL.

CraftyBlindChick lol my closet is mostly gets dirty clothes on the floor and hangers and shoes. Some ideas : do a craft for crafty blind chick, organizing video, night time routine, morning routine, daily routine. Love ya ❤️

Seriously, I wish I could eliminate paperwork entirely, and junk mail! Even if you do the no advertising list or whatever you still get loads of junk mail!! Makes me CRAZY!

I also hate paperwork. I am currently using Ajax dishwashing liquid. I love lemon scent too but I prefer the grapefruit Ajax. But...it seems like I can never find it any more.

I’ll keep an eye out for it for ya LOL. I LOVE lemon scented ANYTHING. I’m not sure why I’m not in love with the Ajax. But, it was the only pure lemon scent I could find. The ivory is unscented but has some moisturizers build on which is just needed here.

I love organizing but my least favorite is definitely laundry. It is so funny because I laugh at my sister because she is on dog poop duty and my excuse is I can’t do it because I can’t see it 😊🤣🤣😂 it really bugs her but then I tell her that’s what little sisters are for

LOL. That’s amazing!! We all take poop duty LOL but the girls and Devin will “find the poop” and I’ll gladly clean it up. When I clean up the yard by myself I seriously pick up as many pine cones as I do landlines LOL.

I really enjoyed this style of video, the descriptions of what was going on were very helpful! How old were you when you got your first guide dog? I’m heavily considering one as my vision loss has progressed enough for me to begin using a cane, which I really do not like, I’ve done lots of research and I think that a guide dog would be right for me. I am concerned about bringing the guide dog to school though, as kids can be very annoying. I’m only 14 but I’ve found schools that won’t deny me because of that, GDB being one of them. I have albinism as well, and have been losing vision over the past year and a half, which as you probably know, is kind of strange because albinism isn’t *supposed* to be progressive. Any advice you might have would be great! Thanks in advance!!

Would you be open to being connected with a high school age handler? Guide dog program will consider your application regardless of age-some do have an age requirement but GDB does not. There is a summer program called Camp GDB that you should totally consider applying for-it would give you a great first-hand idea of whether a guide dog is right for you, and first hand experience caring for a class-ready guide dog and experiencing an in harness walk with a working guide dog. It’s a fantastic program. I’ve volunteered the past few years working as a leader for camp, but they don’t need me this summer. If you shoot me your contact information or Instagram or email I can send you a note when they post the camp applications. If you’d like to connect with my friend who’s a high school age handler, I can try to connect you through Instagram or Facebook if you use either! ❤️
