Cleaning day in Djibouti

Today's vlog: A sign of life from Djibouti. We explain why we couldn't make video the last weeks and give the boat a thorough clean up, that was really very necessary!

This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. We got the sailing- skills on our friends yacht 'Shalom' when we joined them on a trip from the Netherlands to Spain. / @sailingshalom . In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met. We cooperated with OM to visit their projects and film them on our way. Since 19 of March we started with a daily vlog due to the corona situation. We plan to keep doing this the coming months.

Leuk om jullie weer te zien en te horen dat het goed met jullie gaat. Gelukkig dat het opgelost is met de video Jammer dat jullie niet naar de malediven kunnen het is daar zo mooi 😍. Maar dat komt vast nog wel een keertje Veel plezier daar en stay save Lieve groet van ons. Henry en Cora

yes, it was very bad. We even spoke with them by phone, but they did not wat to remove it... luckily facebook helped us :) But in general the people are very friendly here! And it is very safe :) Thank you!!!

Nice!! Yea hope once there are vaccins it will get better. Are you waiting for that? Would be nice to meet you here. We posted 1 video after this one as well, and another 1 is coming tomorrow about some anchorages and the underwater world 😁

You should go to the Maldives, if problem just move on to chagos and seychelles your in the perfect place for the Indian trades loop now!

Seeing that you are in a very different country and environment to ours. Very brave of you. On another note... how fast is your internet upload and download speed there? Since uploading video files isn’t a small thing.

With mobile internet it's very fast. A 350mb video is online in 15 to 30 minutes. So that's perfect!

Fijn om iets te horen, en begrijpelijk dat je voorzichtig bent als dit soort dingen gebeuren met je video opnames. Het kan inderdaad verrijkend zijn maar ook best heel kwetsbaar om video's maken. Wijsheid en fijn om af en toe gewoon een paar dagen op de boot de haven uit te kunnen.

ja, heerlijk. we zijn nu al weer sinds 1 september aan boord, echt lekker! het water altijd dichtbij om even op te frissen :)

Good to hear back from you guys, why not to sail back north and come to Egypt again. tourism is back and airports are open, numbers of COVID-19 cases decreasing, and still lot to see in the Red Sea, diving spots are great and kite surfing too. take care.

Yes I how somebody that was locked down in the Maldives, he was not happy, he could not go anywhere, he could not leave until he paid fines, he could not get parts for his boat. he was not happy.

Yea we heared stories like that too. And the agent there also advised us not to come yet. During lockdown it's not te best place to be they said

Jammer dat er mensen zijn die dan misbruik maken van jullie filmpjes, en lastig dat wat je gepland hebt niet altijd door kan gaan. Maar leven bij de dag Succes met alles!

I’m very saddened that the video was used that way I’m very sorry and angered that they would do that. Please take care. Theis is 3 years later I know But I’m just hearing if it now I so sorry 😣 and angry you had to experience that.
