You've done a stellar job documenting your experiences w/ Luba. Hopefully they'll reach out to you directly and work with you on replacement parts, etc. Don't forget to get yourself a stiff bristle brush to clean the deck, then blow it out with an air compressor gun. That'll do you really well! Keep at it buddy!

Hello. I am writing from Germany. Try spraying the entire underside with dry PTFE (Teflon) after the next cleaning. Then the Luba stays clean longer and the dirt comes off more easily.

Hey, don't make it so difficult for yourself. I simply remove the blade discs and underneath there are three more screws that you can use to remove the whole unit. Then you can clean everything, preferably with a plastic scraper. Just watch out for the rubber seal on the motor. Hope this helps you next time.

CP, thanks for the videos so far, valuable information for Luba owners. The side protectors are riveted to their brackets, at least on one side. You can take the side protectors off by unscrewing the three hex bolts of the bracket around the spindle. Accessible when the blade plates are removed. You were so close... I think the side protectors are installed to keep anybody from grabbing underneath the mower to lift it up while the blades are spinning. A liability issue for Mammotion. If you don´t have children in your household, you should be fine to run it without side protectors at your own risk. I don´t know how much protection for the rubber seal is left if the side protectors and their brackets are removed as they cover the seal area. But it could be an interesting try to mow without protectors an decreasing the overlap for more blade coverage/faster task execution plus less potential plugging.
@ipaulus
@ipaulus Жыл бұрын
don't take off the whole brackets and mow. they somewhat protect the flimsy rubber seals. imagine a little twig can rip them easily then. what some people do is to drill out the rivets (the one CP just discovered at around 9:58min here). that way the side protectors can come off and the brackets remain in place. I'm thinking about doing the same as the only issue with block up and mower motor overload is when grass piles up under the protectors.

With the rotors blades and those two pieces on each side underneath the rotors all taken off, I use the hose to clean them. Once all of them are out of the way it's pretty open and easy to clean with a scraper and an air hose and a damp cloth.

Thanks for the videos @crazypostman. Yours are the only ones that are 'real life' examples and not in ideal conditions all the time. @Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
Sure I could get a tape measure out, be careful with how you build a garage. Luba has to maintain a solid GPS lock from above when parked. Only a light plastic roof.
@user-by8sl3he1s
@user-by8sl3he1s Жыл бұрын
In parking/charging position there is no GPS signal required. That´s why Luba is parking into the charger via Infrared sensor and moves 1,5 meters forward when you want to program it and GPS is required. A garage would inhibit the rain sensor function i would guess: if it has rained prior to a planned task, the grass will be wet but Luba would not recognize it when parked in a garage. Mowing wet grass is not working good.
@shanecb
@shanecb Жыл бұрын
@@Crazypostman Thank you and good point. I had planned to mount the RTK on the fence above the charging station (essentially leaving off the pole), but I'll make sure the roof to the garage is a thin material for transmission. Great tip that probably saved me redoing something later...
@shanecb
@shanecb Жыл бұрын
So it may be that GPS is not required when docked, but surely the official Mammotion garage also blocks the rain sensor? On my Landroid it uses a combination of the sensor (it only uses that when actively raining whilst mowing), otherwise it sets a rain delay based on the weather forecast. I guess Luba could know the weather based on your GPS location and not attempt to mow if it is or has been raining? Can anyone confirm at all?
@ipaulus

for cleaning you can take off the side protectors with its brackets. See other persons comment here explaining this. but put them back on after. if you want to remove the protectors just drill out the rivets. this should prevent build up underneath them. i had a few overload notifications due to grass buildup under the protectors after mowing wet grass. so I'm thinking about drilling the rivets out and remove the protectors for good. should improve the cut as well. but put the brackets back in place after cleaning as they do protect the flimsy rubber seals to some extent.

I did my first cutting yesterday with Luba for about 7 or 8 hours. My grass was too long around 6" and it left piles of cut grsss size of a tennis ball in the centre of each pass. The deck was packed with cut grass. i cleared it all in seconds using my Stihl leaf blower. The Luba AWD5000 is an amazing robot without any need for intervention thanks for the AWD - my Worx Landroid couldnt handle the mole holes and runs. Only issue is connections from phone to Luba dropping out. Bluetooth has no range and WiFi seems to be connected only after connecting to BTooth.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
Yeah the Bluetooth range is very short, and It takes about 30 to 45 seconds to finally get a Wi-Fi connection. Yeah with grass that long it's not going to look real good because it won't mulch up the extra It will just leave long pieces laying. Probably just have to mow it three or four times right away to get it looking good before you start your regular schedule.

Given a large circular centre feature in 2 of my lawns, which would be no-go, I would like it to offer to mow circles outward from these features. In other words do the no-go perimeter you suggest and keep going. On other occasions mowing from the perimeter inwards would be useful.

Great video. Interesting to see where the “weak spot” is with the rubber grommet. It seems like if the deck is all the way up - it would be unlikely that a stick could come in contact with the rubber. Would you agree? I’ll be cutting at the higher length - so perhaps I won’t have to worry about an occasional spray if the bottom. I have a Landroid right now and and it doesn’t take much water to soften the stuck stuff on the bottom so that it falls off.

As an alternative engineering solution instead of a rubber boot perhaps a telescopic cover. This could be a rigid cylinder sealed to the chassis and and a smaller diameter cylinder inside it attached to the mow head and sealed by an 'O' ring, much like a piston on a car or a hydraulic ram.

I am still waiting for mine, but as I understood is that it has a smaller battery so it can mow less m²/h. Also it supports less zones which you can set (I think only 3). Without knowing you personally I would have a hard time judging what I think you would be capable of but it's really not that hard You can drive it with your phone to a nearby tree turn it on its side leaning against the tree and just spray it off with a water hose not that difficult in my opinion You don't have to lift the full weight just to turn it on its side. Just be careful when you're setting it back down to not let it fall because I've seen axles get broken just from letting it tip back to the ground.

@@Crazypostman I already commented on it in the video where you took the RTK base station down from the roof, and the missing examination on how many satellites it "lost" coming down from there, which in turn would affect the number of co-viewing satellites and make the "difficult GPS areas" even more difficult (regardless of the actual RTK-to-mower signal strength. This video referenced that. But I see you already replied to that comment, so there's not really much to add.
