I used to work in TV years ago on the engineering end as well as production and I know a good writer/producer/director of documentary style videos when I see one. You have the skills of a professional. You understand the fundamental concepts of human interest, storyboard continuity, camera work, narration, post production, editing, music, time lapse and technical quality. In short, you could work in the business of documentary video production if given the opportunity. You are that good. Your openings, main subject continuity, closings and attention to detail are the best I have seen on KZfaq in a long time. Your use of the drone, shot angles and placement of the cameras is perfect in that they provide a very important element when telling a story using video...perspective. The close-ups are downright mesmerizing. I too, like thousands of others, am addicted to your videos and check my email for everyday for another upload. Good job, Andrew..!

Andrew, a suggestion if it's not impractical.... In many videos you are faced with having to pick up several long objects, usually small trees, limbs, lumber, etc. and have to do this by grabbing it with your demo bucket or with the excavator. Have you ever considered using a choker cable? I use one for hauling logs and brush out of my ravine and it couldn't be simpler. Has the benefit of not only pulling the load, lengthwise or sideways, but it also bundles long stuff together tightly in a bunch, which makes it easier to handle. You can drag the load, or lift it, but it would be hard to control it if it was off the ground. You can buy them pre-made in various lengths and thicknesses, but I just bought a 6' steel cable with loops in both ends and put the little protector things inside the loops, then attach a heavy shackle to one end and thread the other through that to cinch things tight. You simply thread the cable under the load, or better yet, have it laid out ahead of time, pile the long stuff on it, then thread one end of the steel cable with an eye in it through the choker end and attach it to whatever... When you pull it cinches the bundle together and you can haul it out lengthwise rather than having to do a delicate balancing act with the load crosswise in the jaws, which takes some tricky maneuvering to get through tight spots. (like a dog with a long stick in it's mouth trying to get through a narrow opening in a fence.) You could lift the load by the choker, or just get the bundle to an open area here it's easier to pick up from the side. And the choker will have bunched them tightly together, which is another benefit. It might take a minute or two to have to get out of the cab and attach the choker, but it might be worth it in some situations. You can also use a good rope and tie a timber hitch on a load (or a log) and it will pull the load lengthwise. Also, one tiny thing.... those are garter snakes.... because they're long and with the yellow stripes on their backs they looked like garters to people long ago. I hear people call them gardiner snakes all the time though. ;-) That was a good sized one. Love your stuff. Rock on.
@ksook134 жыл бұрын

Watching you cut those trees reminded me of my experience clearing trees around an Iowa farm house. I soon learned to leave shortening stumps to the end of the day. It seemed that wind blown or rain spattered dirt grown into the wood close to ground over the years dulled my chains quickly. YMMV Good job keeping falling trees from damaging nearby buildings.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t want tress close to my house. Sure there is a shade advantage in the summer but my house is well insulated. Thanks for the video Andrew.

@@dingledooley9283 I grew up on a farm close to the end of the runway at Southend airport in the UK. Those are our farm buildings on the left of this painting www.chrisfrenchart.co.uk/bristol-freighter.html When jet engine aircraft started using the airport, when they took off they blew grey slates off the roof, which flew a good 100 yards like deadly Frisbees. Most all your videos are enjoyable and entertaining. You do a great job with the camera and your voice (being able to hear you) that many fail with on you tube. I have seen most all your videos and even though much older than you have learned some things. Your skills with your excavation equipment is admirable and also your instinct when it comes to fixing things. One thing about that....noticed that you often work on old, rusted bolts/nuts and regularly end up breaking some off. If you would simply give them a good spray with Liquid Wrench (seen only one video where you used it) then let is sit a while before working on it, the job would likely go easier with fewer broken off bolts/nuts. BTW....Liquid Wrench is the BEST of all for loosening rusted/corroded parts...watched independent tests of it and been using it for a very long time now. (no affiliation to them). Anyway....love that shop castle you built from containers....an amazing feat indeed. I'd be more encourage to work on stuff and learn welding and plasma cutting etc if I had a nice place to work on stuff like you do....sadly I'm limited to a small 2 car garage with barely enough room for a small car and my tools. Have to move everything just to get to stuff....makes doing any project a real chore. So just relegated to enjoying watching all the variety of things you do. I always wanted to learn to use an excavator, tractor, skis steer, bull dozer etc....guess it's not meant to be. Keep up the terrific videos...and the drone is a nice touch too...:) Take care Andrew....you are a good guy!

A can of fly spray and a lighter is a great flame thrower for wasps..

spray paint and a lighter is way more flame. the paint really burns hot as it is sprayed, also spray paint is better than hairspray in your tater gun launcher !!

I wish you were in Minnesota. I just had a tornado take out 40 trees on my 1 acre cabin, maybe 5 left standing. The trees are cleared and gone but I need to do a ton of landscaping, new drainage problems etc. Great videos!
