Excellent advice and often overlooked by those not thinking a little bit out of the box when essentially one is almost 99% home. Another quick fix on something like this is when one has a lathe, like yourself. It doesn't take much time to whittle one out of some heavy wall tubing or bar stock. Although one has to choose his battles wisely here as it doesn't take long before this process in not time or cost effective. Time is always the key to any job involving clientele. Thanks again Don!

The only problem is that hitting it like that can cause the balls in the bearing can dimple the 2 rings of the bearing shortening it life considerable because all of the force of the hits is taken by the balls in to the inner and outer ring

Donny Boy you need to dress up your 3/8" pin punch on the head end(hammer end) It's mushroom over the edges and can cause a spall to break off while striking the head end and hitting you in the face or body. SAFETY FIRST! KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING TO PITTSBURGH PA GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS.

I just learned you can change the bearing in those lawn cart and such replacement wheels. I had a lawn cart with a 3/4" shaft but most of the replacement hubs are 5/8". But the hubs are really 1 1/4 and the bearings are replaceable. Bought 3/4" ID bearings off Amazon and solve my problem much cheaper than trying to run down a 3/4" hub.

Hi Don, great videos. I really do appreciate all the knowledge to are able to provide. I really do appreciate it. Keep them coming. Just wondering if you could do a short video on an ignition coil i was helping a friend locate for a Lawnboy mower. I found it and in the process i discovered a similar coil but with a different characteristic. One was part# 100-2948 and the other was part# 100-2949 both will mount the same but the 100-2949 is a pre compliance (ground to run) and the 100-2948 is a post compliance (open to run). I really didn't understand at first but i think i got the jist of it now. Maybe put a video together bringing a little knowledge to your subscribers. Thanks again. Paul from Guelph, Ontario Canada

When pounding out spacer new one shouldn't you have supported the bearing centre race. Maybe by putting bushing over the spacer so that bushing sits on the vice jaws rather than just the pully body. Also, in this cae, depending on application could you just use a separate additional spacer on the new pulley mouning pin to get required length of spacer

Looks like a 203 bearing. Most auto parts stores have a number system which may have a series of letters or -#'s after or before the base 203 number. It merely means metal or plastic shields, shield only on one side or lock ring around the circumference. If you go to an inexperienced counterman at Auto Zone, he will ask you make model and year. Merely ask if you can go to the bins and check out the bearings. The 203's will be clustered together on the shelf. In a pinch, most pickups with serpentine belt systems will have idlers or tensioners that use the same bearing. Bite the cost of the entire tensioner/idler and press the 203 out.
