I'm awful at remembering how to tie knots! I need the knot to tie a rope to my bird cage. After some searching I finally found your video. The double fisherman's bend knot looks like it's going to be the perfect knot for my project. Thanks so much❤

Excellent video, just a heads up on your sheet bend portion. The sheet bend you tied is the unsafe "left hand" variety. Tails need to be on the same side. Opposite sides is much weaker and less secure per lots of formal pull testing. Not that it's unusable, but much more likely to work loose and lower strength.

Hi Bino, just wanna say thank you so much for making our life a bit easier. On the second note, is Double Fisherman’s Bend is your favorite termination hitch? Cuz you surely could’ve started with the Anchor Hitch which is a lot easier lol

I had an idea for a video and for new climbers for moving rope system, is put a split tail and Blake's hitch from hitch climber pulley above you friction hitch, then decent becomes a 2 step process. When weighted pull Blake's hitch down, then main friction hitch, but you only drop down till the Blake's hitch grabs,

If you are using a split tail any of the three termination knots will work well. Double Fisherman, Anchor or the Buntline.

Take your time alot of those knots unless you're climbing you won't use. The mid line one called the Gatorade knot yes your running bull knot or whatever it's really called. Your tension hitch is very important. But they are all good to know and always practice before you just start dropping big branches cause that can get a little hairy real quick.

I’m a big inner so not sure that I know. I was just practicing my knot making after watching your videos, practiced figure 8 and got that down good. But then I just made an ordinary simple knot, I just wrapped the tail around and into the loop once and then went into the loop a second time and tightened. It was almost impossible to undo so I figure it would be a good stopper knot.

Careful w/your Sheet Bend. You want both ends above (or both below) the knot, when done. Just flip your initial bight over. Double Sheet Bend is a good bit more secure.

Great video mate from Australia, a couple I didn't know and will try them out. Question: with the bowline, why do you finish the tail on the inside? I got taught to always finish the tail on the outside of the hole so that it doesn't get in the way when using carabiners on a bowline. I'm just curious. Cheers
@BinoH
@BinoH Жыл бұрын
I believe the if it's tied with the tail on the outside it's a Cowboy Bowline and what was explained to me is that it can come loose easier than the regular bowline. The regular Bowline can come loose if it gets tension and slack multiple time. That's why if someone is using it as a termination to a climbing system it's better to have a Bowline with a Yosemite finish. What better for your termination climbing system are the three named in this video.

@@BinoHConstructive criticism, no disrespect; lose the background noise. The subject & your narration of it is great! The addition of distracting, monotonous & annoying music ruined the vid for me. I could shut the volume off and turn on CC, but it's hard to watch the vid and read subtitles at the same time.

Ok so ima just ask and try this a different way, im hanging a tree swing on one branch too high i cant climb and dont have ladder high enough, my board for the swing part has the 4 holes with my rope going through,i already cut them to be individually in each hole, not like lopped down through and up out other hole, and figure like a double figure 8 knott would be fine for holding underneath the seat board, but im unsure what exactly i should do for joining the two ropes from both sides, up to my two ropes coming down from branch, ive rifht now just have one giant long rope ide manged to get up ovwr the branch once, was thinking ide toss it up over a couple more times, then do same for second rope on other side, but what knott should i be using to combine the two ropes from the sides of my seat, and what knott should i use to connect the 2 sides of swing ropes, to the two coming down off branch? Think ive watched too many confusing knott videos and im all tangled trying to apply the knotts ive learned, i just dont know which will be the best.

I kind of sounds like you want to connect the ropes together. If that is the case. Have a look at this video the part where I make a prussik loop. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5Zxp7d81sfJhKM.html Hope this helps.
