I know Cloud was ashamed that he didn’t make Soldier and was trying to hide from Tifa, but honestly this story I think is more impressive for Cloud than him pretending to be a Soldier.

Some may question why Sephiroth didn't just let go of his sword... but that was always his problem; his refusal to accept things. When it seemed he had inhuman, monstrous origins, he refused to accept it and instead decided to think of himself as his divine mother's "Chosen One" in his desperate bid to piece his shattered pride and self-confidence back together. In the same vein, he doesn't let go of his sword even when lifted up because that would be admitting to the fact that this nobody, this random Shinra grunt side character, not only caught him by surprise with a backstab, but in doing so weakened him enough to be able to pull *this* stunt. He rejects that reality, and thus makes himself incapable of simply letting the sword go and attacking a different, less "superior" manner. That complex was and always will be his downfall.

I know some people think it’s ridiculous Cloud was able to do this, but i will never not love this scene. Even in the real world ordinary people have done insanely extraordinary feats in moments of crisis. Clouds home was destroyed, he lost his mom, he nearly lost the girl special to his heart. HE was PISSED, in that moment Sephiroth had no chance.

The reason Sephiroth goes so much out of his way to ruin Cloud’s life is because he was the only person to ever beat him and he fears ever fighting Cloud at his best. Shinra, the rest of the party, Zack, Aerith, and even the Planet itself don’t scare Sephiroth the same way Cloud at his best does.

Huh, I guess just not showing any blood when a character gets impaled won’t fly anymore? The smokey effect reminds me a bit of the Whispers in “Remake”, but I know it’s most likely just a way to ensure this game didn’t get an “M” rating. EDIT: For those who’ve never watched the original cutscene from “Crisis Core”, there isn’t any blood when Sephiroth or Cloud get impaled, and there also wasn’t any smoke-like effects on the wounds either.

Cloud was always the strongest of them all. Even above Sephiroth. The Problem was his Head. He trought that he is weak and can't do anything at all. When Zack first meet Cloud, Cloud has absolut zero Problems to keep up with Zack walking who is a Soilder first Class. In the Scence where you go into the Nibelheim Mansion Cloud runs so fast that Zack can't keep up. Here where he lost everything Cloud let's go. All he has in his Mind is to kill Sephiroth.

Once and for all, Cloud was able to defeat Sephiroth here because. A: He had already gone a few rounds with Zack. B: He completely let down his guard obsessing over Jenova. C: Cloud was very, very mad, and the Buster sword follows E=MC2. It's still a complete mismatch, but that's why it rules when Cloud wins. The nobody defeats the legend.

This right here is why it will always be Cloud and Tifa. That girl means more to him than anything in the world, and Sephiroth hurt her. Nothing else mattered after that. Cloud was going to win.

We have to have 100% closure on how Cloud managed to do this in the 3rd game. Where did his strength come from, how did he survive.

I hate it whrn people say Cloud couldn't save anyone this night. Nor could Zack that night, he failed to save anyone and got defeated. It's Cloud who literally saves everyone who survived that night by being the one to kill and defeat Sepiroth. Had he not, Sepiroth would've killed everyone as no one was stopping him. Why do people ignore that fact? Cloud saved Zack and everyone before Zack saved him. Cloud never failed to make Soldier for physical weaknesses, it was mental instability that made him unsuitable for the Jenova experiment which is what Soldier really was at heart. Cloud was juat a kid, younger than Zack, hell even Zack was teaching Cloud so he could retake the assessment for Soldier. He his not injected with Zacks being, he does not inherit his skills, his skills are his own, his strength is his own magnified which is what leads hin to be able to go on and solo more powerful forms of Sepiroth, twice. But, he's literally a stone throws away from becoming a robed man until Tifa finds him in Midgar and the sight of Tifa alone was enough to pull Cloud back but his mass insecurity combined with PTSD let's him create a fiction to protect himself, a hybrid personality between him and Zack. Zack is not a cold hearted merc, nor is Cloud it is a shield. Remember it's been 5 years for Tifa but the last thing Cloud will remember is killing Sepiroth, to him that incident was pretty much a few days ago, his mom is dead, town destroyed, Tifa maybe dead and he wakes up to watch his best friend get murdered. You can't even begin to fathom how mentally destroyed Cloud is at this point. Between seeing Tifa and the fiction his mind creates it saves him from becoming a true puppet in that moment and lays the foundation for him to make the influence Sepiroth/Jenova has over him irrelevant, again thanks to Tifa.

Cloud s move doesn’t make sense - newton x meter > at the edge of the sword his weight works maximum, moving closer won’t make him able to lift Sephiroth. - They should have combined it with an accident on the bridge in the reactor, so that the sword stabs cloud but is also underneath the handrail of the bridge. Sepiroth is not able to lift him, because of the handrail behind him, but cloud can lift Sephiroth.
