I like Cher’s dad, maybe because I’m a dad of two 16-year-old girls. I love his line “You divorce wives, not children” and seeing how he’s a great (former) stepdad to Josh. And I can really empathize with “Hey you, anything happens to my daughter, I got a .45 and a shovel, I doubt anybody would miss you.”

Yeah and his caring for Josh clearly had double intentions. They make it clear he was only Josh's stepdad for a short amount of time, he just really liked him and saw him as someone who could look after his little girl. When he's hyping him up the table about how big he's gotten and how he has direction, when he listens to him about not letting her go out in "underwear" and how he lets the sly smile creep out when Josh is worried and decides to follow her on her date. It's made evident during the course of the movie that when he first met Josh he probably thought "yeah, this is the kind of boy I'd like for my Cher".

I actually met Alicia Silverstone the girl that plays Cher. This was when i was 13 or 14 & she was 17. How we met is that my dad use to do her parents landscape & his wife was their housekeeper & since my dad took me with him i was there while she was sunbathing. Now we didnt have no deep convo that day but she did say hi & she offered me lemonade since she had a jug of it. From there on when i did see here she'd say hi to me. Her & her parents were all nice to me.

In my city the DRIVING TEST t is only front, reverse and side parking. The test proctor is not even in the car with you. It is a test that you can do in less than a minute. I finished mine in less than a minute and it was raining that day. I just borrowed a friend's automatic compact car and passed the test with 100 points on everything. There are people from other nearby cities who come to mine just to take the test since it is only the 3 ways to park and nothing more.

High school in the US isn’t really like what you see in the movies, but you probably realize that. At any rate the “American high school experience” varies wildly by location and socio-economic class, but the schools that are potrayed in movies are usually either in extremely wealthy areas (like this one) or poor inner city schools.

Clueless is loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma. That starts with her engineering the marriage of her former governess, Miss Taylor to Mr Weston. Then she takes on trying to pair off Harriett Smith to local vicar, Mr Elton and divert her romantic interest in a local farmer whom Emma sees as not high status enough for her friend.

Clueless is a loose remake of the Jane Austen novel Emma. It was a part of a trend in the 90s and early 2000s to update classic literature with a modern setting. IE, Ten Things I Hate About You was based on Shakespeare's Taming Of The Shrew. Clueless was Alicia Silverstone's big breakout role after mostly being known for appearing in Aerosmith videos (alongside Liv Tyler) and it looked like she was going to be the Next Big Thing. And then she did Batman And Robin, and the wheels fell off before she could really get started. She's still put together a respectable career, especially on television, but never reached the heights people expected of her. Paul Rudd has not aged since the 90s. Speaking of, as someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, this movie is absolutely a time capsule of the 90s. While mostly of upper-class California, it set fashion and cultural trends across the US.

If you enjoy this kind of ironic twist on the American High School experience, you might really enjoy Heathers. It's a bit similar to this (and Mean Girls), but it's much darker in tone. Hi Dasha!😊 Did you recognize a young Paul Rudd as Josh (Ant-Man)? This movie inspired the 90s TV sitcom by the same name. There were probably schools like this in Beverly Hills in the 90s. Great reactions to this fun 90s film, Dasha!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 Have a great weekend!😊

I actually saw this movie while it was in _theaters._ I don't remember why. It doesn't come anywhere _near_ a genre I've ever actually enjoyed. And, indeed, when I saw it, it struck me as a tad _cloying._ As time has passed, though, my appreciation for _nostalgia_ has been kicking in and I've been enjoying it for _that,_ as much as anything else.
