I keep seeing new alerts for comments but they are of showing up, so apologies to anyone who I haven't replied to. This is a 1.5kw spindle, vfd and er11 collet set with pond pump from ebay. Mine came from Germany so no import duty and was around £250

That spindle makes for a great upgrade.
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 3 жыл бұрын
Andy Pugh it sure does Andy, if you upgrade to one from day one as well it’s not really that much more expensive than a trim router.

Quick question,I’ve seen people wire up the same spindle as you have but they say to use shielded cable from the vfd to the spindle. What cable do you use?
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 2 жыл бұрын
Hiya, yeah it's 4 core shielded cable used and best ran away from other wiring as has been known to interfere with steppers

What tools are you using to cut brass, and what speeds? I have had problems cutting brass. Do you use parallels with your vice? Gives super flat placement.
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 3 жыл бұрын
Yep always use parallels, I have been a Cnc engineer for 16 years now so speeds and Feeds I’m used to. You need to run at the speeds and feeds supplied by the tools manufacturer. I use carbide cutters usually 4 flute Even brass is bit ideal for these hobby machines so you have to take it slow with shallow cuts

I know that feeling I only lasted two weeks with a trim router and was like sod this. I have a 1.5kw watercooled from eBay. If you need a link I can send you one over on Instagram 👍🏻

Hi great vid👍.Does the cnc struggle at all will the extra weight of the spindle compared to the weight of the trim router?
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the comment and also the follow. I haven’t had any issues with the extra weight of the new spindle, I was a little worried when I first picked it up lol I should have made a video back then of the fitting process, there are pics on my Instagram page though showing the changes I made to the mounting clamp. Thanks for watching

Hi, what is the small size limit you have found for cnc cutting a branding iron? 5p, 10p, £2 coin size for example.
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t particularly have a min size limit, I have a smelly cat one that’s 16mm x 16mm. I find the opposite, you should avoid going to large to get a good brand
@H2Dwoat
@H2Dwoat 3 жыл бұрын
@@SmellyCatCreations hi, I suppose I was thinking of the ‘resolution’ with something small you might get singed bleeding from one part of the brand to another. Particularly on script. I like the idea of a small discrete brand for smaller pieces.
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 3 жыл бұрын
@@H2Dwoat to be honest I always recommend against script writing where possible anyway for a brand. Most people don’t plan a logo when they have it made, like making it vector making it easy to use in multiple scenarios

where did you buy the dustshoe? :)
@SmellyCatCreations

I got my dust shoe with the workbee from ooznest but when I upgraded to the watercooled spindle I had to machine out and modify it. Still to this day I have never used it though

I also tried a drill press vice and yea it kicks up. I now use hot glue to hold the brass in place.
@SmellyCatCreations

Hot glue nice never tried that, sounds cheaper than the new vice. Yours came out really nice good work on them.

@@SmellyCatCreations they look a bit wrough to look at but they stamp nice. I always skim the brass with the CNC and then cut the design. Also it doesn't have to be a deep cut. I Cut to about 0.6mm. I would custom more if it's for leather
@SmellyCatCreations
@SmellyCatCreations 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnMadeit Yeah i always skim 0.2 off before making the brand. you only cut 0.6 ok that makes me think i go way too deep lol
