Pat Morita passed away 15 years ago, and a character he played almost 4 decades ago is still beloved and still cool and relevant both to the generation that watched him originally and to young people today. That is a terrific legacy.

So glad Johnny was reminded that Mr Miyagi was King Bad Ass and showed up for Johnny and saved him back in the day. Miyagi actually influences so many people on this show in subtle ways. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Tory goes the Miyagi way at some point in future seasons. Cobra Kai always alienates their best eventually. Good job guys! You folks are the the ‘Wax On’ of reactors! 😎🥋🐍☀️

I’ve said it before, but I really can’t get enough of this show. I *know* that’s it’s different, but for me this is a top tier show. It is absolutely packed with soul and heart, and it’s funny and dramatic and exciting. It’s up there with Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Wire and Succession (which you must watch) for me. It seems like, you know, we’re not supposed to say that about this show, but why not? It’s a story of mentorship and growth and it deserves accolades!

Tory is such an interesting character to me. I was fortunate enough to have people watching over me as a kid so it's hard for me to judge her mindset. Anyone can say the decisions she makes are stupid and I would agree, but idk that I'd believe someone that says they wouldn't behave similarly given those circumstances. This show does a great job with providing context for why people do shitty things. That's what makes it great for me. It doesn't try to justify, just show you how a character got there.

There's a really common theme from Karate Kid all the way into this season of Cobra Kai: nobody stops to consider where others are coming from. Sam and Amanda never stopped to ask *why* Tory acts the way she does. Never tried to befriend her. Just made assumptions and took stress-induced aggression at face value. Same with Daniel and Johnny. Neither stopped to think why the other acts like they do. Johnny is irritated that Daniel is so staunchly 'defense only' but never bothered to ask why, just like Daniel never asks Johnny why he's so staunchly offense. Literally 90% of issues from back then to now could be solved with a conversation.

I find it hilarious how seriously everyone takes karate in the Karate Kid universe. Kreese treats his teenage karate students like a regiment of troops, Daniels entire marketting strategy is Karate, Johnnys whole life was ruined because he came 2nd in a high school karate tournament and karate is all anyone thinks or talks about and the solution to all problems 🤣

We as parents can only try our best to make them know better, but we too are not infallible. The point is we all think we know our kids would never... But sometimes they do.

Parents never think they're kids are like that. But they shadow a lot of behavior they see from their parents. If kids see good behavior from the parents they will copy that. Bad behavior also gets copied. They learn from their parents. Good and bad.

@@darkangel4185 I can't fully agree with you on that. Yes, they learn a big part from their parents, but kids have their own personalities, and don't live in a bubble. All their experiences, be it at home, at school, at the park, or wherever other places they go where's there's people, they learn stuff. Kids are like a sponge, always learning, always evolving, and every stimuli becomes like a lego piece that will be part of their behavior, either by imitating it, or by the effects it has on their minds.

I've noticed that Americans constantly talk about the leagalalities of the fights and the school brawl.. In Europe we use to have fights involving thousands at football matches every week.. we use to have fights at schools often..honestly it's not as unrealistic as american reactors think..though times are definitely changing. At 23:09 the look on Kenny's face when they throw the juice at him just frikin breaks my heart. Its sad to know that bulling is a big problem. The actors did a great job at really transmitting those kind of emotions throughout the season. I can really tell that you guys feel for Kenny and I respect that, keep it up love the vids.

Dude the video with Daniel as the real bully is how Cobra Kai came about. Check out the comment section. You have to go back a few years. You will see how they got the idea for Cobra Kai. I was there too and we were all talking about how it would make a good show.

I was always the kid that stayed away from everyone and at brake time was alone reading a book. I did get bullied a bit before high school in middle school but I eventually made up with the bully. In high school there was one guy that threatened me by opening his switchblade knife but that didn't impress me all that much and he was a dush bag to everyone so ya. I f I were there I would have most definitly become friends with Kenny and stuck up for him cause that's just who I am though I never witnessed anyone being bullied when I was younger so dk how I would have reacted back then. I love the way the show flips things around and shows different points of veiw in a way while still staying true to the original movies as well. I do like Tory just because she is a complexed person and not a one dimentional character as well I mean ya she's scary and nuts but she still tries to provide for her sick mother and her little brother as best she can. You just wait cause later in the season they flip the script and have Tory the one trying to make up and Sam setting fire to that bridge in a way that made me want to yell at her but any way.

The whole thing is we have our memberberries with Johnny, Daniel, Kreese, and Silver, but unlike Star Wars or many long running franchises, these older characters are grown up. They've succeeded, or failed, and the new kids are written like characters, not lame tropes. Robbie could have been the new Karate Kid, or Miguel, or Sam, or Tory, but there's no "Karate Kid". It's a story, no clear heroes, but so many have personal heroic moment, "you loved this,look CRANE KICK WINS!" isn't hauled out.

Not to criticize or nit-picky it is Tory with a “y” as she mentions in the first episode she is in. It is akin to the scene in the original Karate Kid movie, Ali with an “i.” Another callback done with perfection. And I totally agree that the Amanda and Tory storyline is pretty compelling.
