Wow, what a wonderful face lift you gave to that rifle. I just finished refurbishing a Win 1873, 136 years old, and it came out great. It was totally covered in surface rust with no deep pits. The wood was slightly worn but no cracks. Light filing, sanding and engraving to prepare it for a refinishing job. I need a Leica like yours :) Must keep all of the edges and transitional areas clean and crisp. Follow the steps that the original craftsman would have followed. Old factory pictures and videos are so valuable. Great job!

Thank you for demonstrating that it takes slow, careful working of files and sandpaper BY HAND to get a finished product such as this. Many people would have butchered this receiver with power tools simply because they are impatient.

My father has a 38-40 lightning with a round barrel. I haven't looked at it lately but last i remember that it was in really nice condition. The wood is beautiful with the checkering still in great condition as well. So after seeing what condition yours is in I am really impressed with your progress, can't wait to see all the next videos. Keep up the good work!

At school I remember using bone meal in a bag, regular charcoal, scraps of bone, leather and a little newspaper to eat up any oxygen in the sealed container, I wish I could remember the temperature and for how long ? to heat the color case hardened parts. Use a small air hose in the water barrel under a chicken wire cage to increase the colors.

I can’t decide whether it’s restored or ruined... that age it had aquired took many many untold stories. I kinda wish you’d made it better on inside and left that gorgeous outside alone ... I hope you understand what I mean !

Andre Will Do It yeah wasn’t blaming you was just wrapping my head around what was being done! And whether I was for or against it lol! You get paid either way ! Just that gun had such a great color and patina ! Hard to watch it get sanded away ! Me if I Wanted it like brand new I’d buy a reproduction.

Was going to say something like that. The .32-20 caliber has looong been out of production and I don't believe it would be worth the trouble of trying to reload the ammo (even IF you can find the proper reloading specs).

@@MastersOfCraftOfficial I wish you the best of luck. The rifling in the barrel was almost non-existent when you showed the inside.
