Yo shout out to the commentators for talking during the entire time the judges are announcing the structures of the tasks 😂 Stellar work boys.

What is with the whispering commentary? It is so low compared to all the other audio I was sure some random tab opened by itself.

Yeah, I agree. Combat Con, take it off please.

We had an external mic getting the commentators from a little far away. The gain could probably be upped a bit.

It looks like we got the audio in one feed so we can't separate the commentators from the live action. It's either this or radio silence. Definitely something on our radar to fix next year!

7:10 Wow, have never seen that before! One of the best cutting feats I've seen for this nearly impossible challenge!

This was excellent, besides for the commentary crossing over with the video's audio track. I feel like Lee should have been the runner-up, though, because he appeared in these videos to make more mistakes than Julian. Just my two cents

The scoring was somewhat cumulative with previous rounds affecting the final scoring. The final scores were off by just fractions of a point, so it could have easily gone any way.

im curious as to why some of the rules are so specifically based on the german styles? for instance the thumb on the blade

this might sound weird but where did the guy in the South Coast swords shirt get his gloves?

In the future, if you want to give commentary, either mute the audio during your commentary or take out the original audio altogether. Your filming was good, but the audio overlap and competition was extremely irritating.

the guy that cuts second in the video is the boss. Almost everyone is using expensive principes or alexandrias. Thats not skill, thats sword. Meanwhile guy at the 2nd minute uses some cheap longsword and kicks ass.

Implying that Lee has no skill and it's all sword, is an asinine statement considering he's made cutting finals without it. Have you ever tried one? It's still definitely possible to mess up cuts with them.

The weapon is only as good as the person using it. Even the best blade is useless in the hands of someone who does not know how to use or maintain the blade. Honestly, mad props to every competitor, they all did very well despite who did or did not win.

I love Hema but in terms of tatami mat cutting the japanese tameshigiri arranged patterns are more difficult and complex and are judged by exact angles.

I organized this event- it wasn't about "difficulty and complexity" of cutting, but rather martial use of cutting.

Job well done, seems like some sandbags would really help keep whats holding the mat's stable and keep them from rocking side to side

A good cut shouldn't move the mat :)

Doesn't matter how pretty your cut is if it doesn't connect. Japanese kenjutsu undoubtedly has amazing cutting feats associated with it, but I'm sure the average practitioner would perform similarly to a Hema practitioner if performing similar tests of skill.
