This is a special response to a disinformation attempt to discredit nature from big agriculture companies with their attack on education and natural truths in growing food. My comfrey fail and also update to the harvesting comfrey leaves for making homemade natural liquid fertilizer as a low cost natural farming method. The comfrey plant benefits are many and wide but my planting comfrey in the garden became a non contributor to the cause to the clay soil improvement by helping to break up the deeper soil base. Growing comfrey is still one of the most beneficial plants for clay soil gardening but not if they have everything they need at the surface freely given to them. I lean on the JADAM natural low cost farming techniques but I certainly learn from Geoff Lawton books and Joel Salatin farming and you can easily find Geoff Lawton youtube videos as well as Joel Salitin videos on youtube in abundance. I encourage you to Not fall for the attempts to create fear and doubt on relying on the FREE provisions of YAW.
May All Your Branches Become Full of Fruit.

its nice to see someone going step by step solving issues others have had, and work through each issue. you will have many calling you out as you are going back to how things were done years ago. oh but wait because you are not running out and buying to support big ag chemical companies. keep up the amazing work you are doing. we live on a quarter section that no store chemicals have ever been used on. we are at the head of a creek and in the swamp and we know our part in keeping it clean . I will be making the garden juice this summer in plastic drums in hopes of getting rid of burrs in our pasture. please keep doing what you are doing

Imagine that learning from someone else, I think we have been doing that very thing since humans appeared on this planet. As a long time organic gardener I have learned many technics and organic practices over the years. Some excellent advice and some are not worth the time it takes to implement. You learn by doing and observing your results, that tells you the value of the teacher or presenter. Many gardening tips and practices may not always work. The method and or advice may not be the cause, instead it could be that it does not work for your area, zone. soil type and weather. I am new to your channel and have been impressed with your straight forward knowledge based on your actual experience as such I am a new subscriber. I am 74 and have been gardening for over 50 years, you can teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you for all your efforts, I look forward to your next video.

As an organic gardener I’m always looking to learn. Started going down the JADAM rabbit hole until I watched a fellow YT actually in Korea at the farm where the master and son went through their operation. At the very end of the video the YT asks the master about all his concoctions and liquids and the master basically admits they grow with high quality compost and only use anything else if absolutely necessary. This is coming from the guy who wrote the JADAM book!!! I’ve had reservations about what specific microbes you are brewing for and the big issue is the dilution rates . At the recommended dilution rates you can basically use radioactive waste water and be ok. I’m tired of humping water around as well and at the master’s farm they use an intricate irrigation system and plants are grown through landscape fabric. There was absolutely no mention or use of sea water. In the case of comfrey IMO rather than deal with the elixir you are making u like the permaculture method of simply burying semi composted stuff like this between my veggie rows. I do tomato stems, beet tops etc.Over the last 5 years I’m seen better quality produce and it sure beats lugging smelly ass liquid around that god knows what’s in it

Fertility and chemistry. When I discovered it was possible to extract macros AND micros from plant material and manure, as well as adding some simple rock dust, etc, I realized that this was a BigAg killer technique. Most of the cost of farming is inputs and equipment. If you tailor your system to minimize those, you win. It's called innovation. We're supposed to like that...right? :-) You're feeding the troll mate. Ban and no comment is the best response IMO!

"Experts" and fake experts have the same characteristics. Aside from being ridiculously loud and absurdly proud, they fabricate content - whether it's in a video, jiggered statistics for a paper or a comment - to distinguish themselves from others. They're always in competition, sociopolitical mode. They're basically lobbying for themselves and against whatever they fear. No corporations necessary.. This is why I prefer videos like yours, Robbie and Gary's, Praxus and so on. Reports and records of hands on experience WITHOUT the fear of disclosing failures. We''re explorers. Expertise - and fake expertise - can go do its sociopolitical thang and live its drama however it wants but it contributes nothing whatsoever. The unknown and discovery is exploration territory. Some discoveries are made accidentally by people I call "one-trick-ponies" and such individuals usually go into an obsessive, patent/credit/mine-mine-mine mode - like the gulls in Finding Nemo - but they're irrelevant to explorers because explorers reap what THEY sow, not what the sociopolitical, control freak, drama queens sow. I don't think FuzzyWuzzy is a corporate shill or another blogger. I suspect he's just average, to be honest. I once had a conversation in the comments of another video about which, I don't remember, but I commented and a guy came back with something like, "I'm not an idiot. - (implying I was) - Who wants to fly in airplanes that aren't made my experts?" And I was flabbergasted. My response, obviously, was, "ME! Are you kidding me?!?! One of my buds gets an idea, builds an airplane? Maiden flight! I'm THERE! I'll be the one climbing around the framework, in midair, with the JB Weld, bailing wire and rescue tape!". I'd say that Fuzzy Wuzzy is your average, indoctrinated person. Exploration happens in real time. Awesome discoveries, whopping miscalculations and plenty of failures but THAT'S where DISCOVERY lives! Every failure is a discovery! IF one doesn't give up or waste a month whining or trying to cover one's ass and whatnot. Explorers don't do that.They "suppose", try it, fail, discover, suppose something else, try THAT, fail, discover and they keep doing that. An explorer can do ANYthing because he isn't afraid to fail. He can create a hundred failures in a day but at the END of that day, he's going to have a whole pile of awesomeness! Wonder, explore, fail, discover, wonder, explore, fail, discover, over and over - wonder, explore, fail, discover - boom, boom, boom - EUREKA! Whereas the average person has learned to follow instructions, "try", fail, blame whoever's handy, mourn for months and/or quit. Pfft! The most boring life EVER!! TO and explorer. Not to the liver of it as they're too busy criticizing others, honing their personal, sociopolitical, ass-covering skills and "playing it "safe". Explorers share their stories. Yes, they're informative, with regard to the experience of the explorer, but that's not the best part. The BEST part is that they're inspirATIONal to other EXPLORERS. Which is why explorers don't care much about things like patents or "credit". They have FAR better things to do than worry about all of that sociopolitical drama. Exploration is a living breathing thing. Exploration is EVOLUTION. Granted, it's true, that corporate interests want VERY MUCH to stop it - or at least slow it down - so it can patent individual ideas and make as much money as possible from them but they don't have any say in the matter. Explorers EXPLORE. Explorers DISCOVER. Every "man-made" thing is the RESULT of it. And there are great gobs of man-made things society will never see because they're gathering dust in the corner of some explorer's basement where they were pushed aside when their explorations took them in some OTHER direction or somewhere ELSE. Exploration is a sub-culture in itself that doesn't even know it exists. A non-communal community of "wonderers". The wild, "renegade", black sheep branch of human evolution. You're fine. As you know. You're an explorer - living THE life - and Fuzzy Wuzzy's fine - NOT living the life. It's just two profoundly different worlds. Two branches of evolution growing further and further apart. Everything is copacetic. And perhaps Fuzzy Wuzzy will wonder about taking a chance on himself and find the courage to explore and discover awesomeness in the future...or not...who knows? Forget about the critics AND the experts. The sociopolitical world they occupy is tiny. OUR world is the whole of the UNKNOWN! They have their tiny little corner of reality and WE have everything ELSE! Yet, explorers get caught up in trying to explain themselves to people who just can't grasp the point of view of an explorer. NOW - I have an annoyingly slow drain I've been wondering about and experimenting on PLUS an idea for a use for the microbes and gotta go get some rice, milk and brown sugar at the 24hr market! I suspect it will exfoliate the callouses off my rough, old feet and hands!! Dead skin?!?! I think the little buggers will LOVE it!! And I've been wondering about the foliage burning and your reported weed promoting properties of your probiotic spray (weeds coming through the floor in a greenhouse, from a different video?)...and want to check out an idea that's snowballing around in my head...and I started an "oat wash water" ferment today so I want to see if that works. I suspect any "wild" ferment juice will work...so we'll see! And I want to see what one, five and ten drops in a fermenting brine will do with some potatoes and onions.

OK....so I now am realizing that I may need a cup of coffee before opening up your comments. LoL I do want to respond to this one regarding the microbes and your curiosity. Yes! Yes! & Yes! I use those Labs everywhere. Concerning any skin issues then I would highly recommend using them. I do almost daily sometimes and especially getting out of the shower. I also use it for a deodorant in my armpits. It's amazing stuff. I learned this from Cho in his JADAM book. He makes it in a huge stock tank and soaks his whole body in it. If you don't have his books then you might want to obtain it so that you can read his own explorations, findings, and testimonies. Thanks.

@@3basketliving said: "OK....so I am realizing that I may need a cup of coffee before opening up your comments. It might be more a matter of me needing LESS coffee, ROFL! Sorry! I just crossed your path while deeply immersed in a whole other exploration - and I don't even remember what it was now. Anyway, I've been "immersed" for a week or more and I don't think I've spoken to anybody but myself that whole time - until now. It just sort of fell out onto my keyboard. Add not enough sleep and WAY too much coffee and it's sort of like a volcano of thoughts that come faster than I can type and end up all OVER the cotton-pickin' place!! Anyway, I'm ALWAYS excited to run into another explorer and love talking about the differences between "black" and "white" sheep because I find other explorers periodically get trapped on the sociopolitical merry-go-round trying to explain themselves. Usually to people who aren't actually interested in understanding. Or reality, for that matter. They just want to appear knowledgeable or "cool" or whatever sociopolitical game they're playing. Though you don't seem concerned....WAY happy to see that!

Hey Tom, I use comfrey for circulation issues, to heal leg ulcers, many other medical uses. Makes a really good tea, and the young leaves, boiled and rinsed, make awesome greens. ;-) However, do to issues not in my control, my boys and I can no longer afford to buy it on line, or anything really. I live in a mid-high valley of the Mohave desert. Zone 9a. I'm pretty sure in a semi protected area of the yard, out of the desert wind and some of the late afternoon sun, it should grow. Out here in the sticks, 70 miles south of Vegas, I have no idea how to get comfrey starts. Any ideas or suggestions??? Thanks, Bryon.

If you get some of those bins, and fill with comfrey, I mean really stuff the comfrey down, and put a couple of bricks to hold it down, DON'T ADD WATER, Just close and clip down the lid, and leave in the hot sun to stew. the water in the leaves breaks down, I generally do 3 bins and after 3 months of summer heat, empty one bin divided in the two other bins, then a few more months, empty everything into one bin. always putting a couple of bricks to hold the leaves down. The super doper concentrate you end up with with is the blackest soup you will ever see, and has very little smell, I think it smells like the sweetness of a cow pooping on a misty spring morning... anyway it is very strong, you could probably use about 1 tablespoon of it in a 5 gallon bucket filled with water. There are a few stringy main veins of comfrey stork in the bottom of the bin, I always put them and a bit of the concentrate in the top of the new bin of fresh heaves.

@@priayief Maybe you're overthinking it? I think you're smart enough to do your own searching AND studies. But I would like to lead you in the direction of common sense.......It's all about living organisms (soil food web) and nutrients in balance. Look to the desert....not much growing hence not much life and nutrients. Now look to the prairies and woodlands. It's a much different picture with more balance. Now you may want to bring up the point about water but there isn't anything much in the deserts to support the retention of said water. If your ground is suffice to your production of growing then I suppose you don't need to feed it. You may have a great ecosystem in place. AND you may have more currency to waste in purchasing said natural nutrients in the box stores if needed than I am willing to give or waste. I'm not the creator....I am the manager and I try to use what's given to me for more freedom. ;) Thanks

@@3basketliving Common sense relating to gardening means doing things that will significantly improve my veggies. Of course that also means not doing things that waste my time and resources. I grow my veggies in no-dig raised beds using compost only. Over the course of many seasons, I like to test a different method each season. I select one of my 8 beds for a "trial". If I see an approach that seems to produce results (based on some kind of actual evidence - versus anecdote, testimonial or theories), I will conduct my own experiment. I will devote one of my beds for the trial. In another bed, I'll simply use my normal methods. Then, at the end of the season I compare results. I've been doing this for many seasons. So far (other than finding that a "no-dig" approach works well for me), I've found nothing beyond compost that is worth the time or resources. I haven't (yet) found any kind of credible, evidence-based trials (whether formal or informal) that have convinced me to test this compost tea approach. Perhaps there is something out there that could change my mind. I'm still looking. Cheers.

@@priayief The point of the video is that people are buying fertilizers (Food) / Nutrients) from sources that get them from the same earth materials AND at a higher cost. Compost doesn't become compost on it's own AND it is nothing in and of itself to the plants we want to grow. It takes the soil food web (Microbes / fungi / worms, etc.) to take that organic matter and put it into a plant available form of food that THEN the plants can use or feed upon. Teas or liquid fertilizers (Food / Nutrients) are still produced by the microbes and such for folks to use IF their growing medium is lacking for some reason to feed the plants directly. There are conditions or lands that can benefit greatly from having it available on hand AND without having to expend their currency to a manufacture doing similar things. That's the point of the vid. It's still composting or producing food with microbes in liquid or soild form. Not matter what there still has to be a supply of nutrients and water to the plants. Composting is like taking a cow and turning it into a steak (breaking it down) and the plants can't eat the steak but the living organisms take that steak and consume it to deposit a transformed food source that the plants CAN take up or use. Those that don't have a steady supply of organic matter to compost in a more dry manner can do so with teas or this liquid fertilizer / composting WITHOUT worrying about the introduction of seeds from things like grass clippings, straw, hay etc. That's the point brother. ;)

@3basketliving
@3basketliving 5 жыл бұрын
I ask that your patient and forgive me but i'm trying to better understand your comment. It's JADAM but i'm not sure what your referring to as EMO? I THINK you might be talking about (possibly) IMO's ? And if so then JADAM is the study and or method and if i'm on target then you might be talking about the drier culturing of IMO's referenced in Mr. Cho's NKF techniques in which you would want to cover lightly to reduce or eliminate the direct sun exposure. In this JLF from the JADAM techniques, we are using IMO's within the leaf mould to feed on the media and therefor excrete the nutrients into a more plant available form. I do cover the fertilizer / JLF as well though for the same reasons and to reduce liquid evaporation. If I'm way off base then just let me know and restate the question if you don't mind. Thanks.

@@3basketliving I think EMO is effective micro organism, or "bokashi", which I think is a special strain of bacteria and requires molassis and bran or similar to cultivate. This then innoculates the soil with beneficial micro organism and can help make compost available for plants more quickly. A bit like sauerkraut for the plants.

Elaine would benefit from JADAM if she is throwing away teas or compost for no good reason. It's easy to reintroduce aerobic microbes into the teas, compost AND soil if there was a concern. I'm thankful that I have the ability to speak my peace without fears of others thoughts. LoL Thanks!
