Having grown up believing in the premillennialist dogma - it has taken me a very long time and a lot of grappling with Jesus' Words and OT Scriptures to finally admit that they don't make sense within the structure of that doctrine. HIS Coming in the Clouds in Daniel 7:13 has been weighing on my mind for many years. Yesterday morning I was reading that specific passage again and the very same day I found this video in my feed- Thank You GOD!

“From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows. The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him- may your hearts live forever! All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations. All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him- those who cannot keep themselves alive. Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭22:25-31‬

Ancient peoples had one all consuming concern. Water and Sunshine. Without water and sunshine, no food. No food no life. Everyday was greeted with the need for rain and sunshine. They believed the gods controlled the rain and sunshine. This is why they worshipped the gods. To keep them happy. The gods were the ones who “rode the clouds” and “came with the clouds” and “revealed themselves “in the clouds” The ancient Canaanite god Baal was called “the cloud rider.” In the first century if you claimed you would “come in the clouds,” you would have been understood by everyone that you were claiming to be God!

So if the “stars falling from heaven, etc” is talking about the destruction of the temple in AD70, and “they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven” is Jesus’ ascension…why does Matt 24 place the ascension AFTER the destruction of the temple? Just an honest question, hopefully someone can explain.

You have to let scripture interpret scripture, look up all the times Jesus mentioned His kingdom, not just this once. When Jesus said his kingdom was not "of this world" -- that meant not from this world. Jesus never delimited his kingdom to only being spiritual. Rather, it encompasses everything, spiritual and physical. It was from heaven. But, once again, it involves all things in this world and beyond it as well.

Question: When we read scripture, is the return of Jesus described as a peaceful event where Jesus is welcomed back to Earth to conduct the Final Judgment and usher in the eternal state by a mostly "Christianized" world, or do we read of the return of Jesus as a violent and bloody event where the Son of God goes to war against His enemies and includes the rescue of Israel (Zech 12-14, Rev 19) ??

When scripture says the clouds of heaven it is referring to clouds of judgement. In the case of Daniel he overcame principalities and powers, that is, at the resurrection to the father’s right hand. In the case of the high priest however it is talking about the clouds of judgement coming upon the old levitical state and city in 70 ad, it was to come in that generation, of the high priest’s lifetime. Christ does not always come in a personal fashion as he will finally do, at the end of time, when the last enemy death will be destroyed, but in the meantime he comes by means of his mediators, as he came in judgment against the Jews by means of the Romans, in the parable “his armies” and also on Rome by means of the ten tribes in 476ad. These are his coming in the clouds.

The Problem with too many Bible students is they are not used to dealing with the language of coming w/ clouds, angels, and the sun & moon being darkened etc. Anytime God acted He was said to come.He rode into Egypt on a cloud to punish them (Isa.19). He did not literally ride a cloud, and it was the Assyrians who destroyed them (Isa.20),but this is the nature of Prophetic language. The Medes destroyed Babylon, and it is said the sun was darkened and the world was destroyed (Isa.13:1). God punished Samaria and the prophet said Jehovah came down ,the mountains melted the earth was shaken (Micha 1). Israel was punished by an army ,but the earth was not literally melted. This is called "apocalyptic language" its the language of Old.Cov.Israel. Remember,Jesus was a trained Jew trained in Jewish prophetic thought. The language was NEVER intended to be taken literally. It conveys a thought that a "world" (a people, place & time) was about to come to an end. Yet time and earth was not ending . In Isa.51:6,15, the prophet predicted Israel's destruction and its called the passing of the heaven & earth. When Jesus promised to come on the clouds w/His Angels upon Old Cov.Israel in 70 AD (Mt.16:27-28 Mt.23:30 Rev.1:7) and judge He was claiming to be Deity, when HE promised to destroy Jerusalem He was acting as Israel's Messiah. We should not interpret that language as describing a literal bodily coming on cumulus clouds to destroy material creation. This is a violation of apocalyptic language.

DOTL - Hebrew and Greek Exact Phrase Verses There have been so many claims, points, doctrines, positions expressed on the Day of the Lord, I thought it would be good to even test my own position against what the verses that expressly stated DOTL in the Hebrew and Greek. I will admit a couple of my thoughts went down the drain. While no damage to my overall beliefs on the issue, there was change. I used the Interlinear to search out the Hebrew and Greek. In the Hebrew the term DOTL is "hwhy ewy" and in the Greek is "hmera kuriou" as used in the Interlinear data base. These are the verses where the exact term DOTL is used: Isaiah 13: 6 Joel 1: 15 Joel 3: 14 Amos 5: 18 Amos 5: 20 Zephaniah 1: 7 Zephaniah 1: 14 Malachi 4: 15 1 Thessalonians 5: 2 2 Peter 3: 10 And those are the ONLY verses it is used in per the Interlinear original language database.

Herr Pastor Wilson, you’ve probably already figured this out, but “immanentizing the eschaton” was Eric Voegelin, though Buckley popularized the phrase, to be sure. I often think of him as a lesser known Leo Strauss, though there are important differences. Voegelin was deeply concerned about movements that sought to attempt to recreate heaven on Earth, ironically with Postmillennialism and the Reformation at the top of his list. In fact, he termed the latter as “the successful invasion of Western institutions by gnostic movements.” He was wrong, of course, but often wrong in right ways, such as his critique of the social gospel. Tschüß.

In Revelation 20 it says this, "Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should DECEIVE THE NATIONS NO MORE till the thousand years were finished. So, if you say we are in the Millennium now, that means, according to scripture, Jesus is reigning, and Satan is bound so as not to deceive the nations anymore. Satan is absolutely deceiving the nations; you have whole nations that are steeped in Islam, worshipping Allah instead of Christ. Some nations worship Buddha or one of the 300 million Hindu Gods. Other nations (communist nations) are atheistic. Then how can you say Jesus is reigning already from Heaven when we have a wicked sinful world? 2nd Timothy 3:1-5 it says, “There will be terrible times in the LAST days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God." IF Christ were reigning, do we really think we would have over a billion Muslims, who view Jesus as a prophet right below Mohamad, a billion Buddhists, who believe Jesus was an enlightened person, a billion Hindus, who believe Jesus studied yoga and became a guru to the Jews, a billion Catholics who are entrusting their souls to Mary at the hour of their death, nearly a billion atheists, the LGBTQ running rampant, TV shows and movies, that continually blaspheme God and His Christ, alcohol, drugs, human trafficking, and colleges that have become propaganda mills that promote Godless, Big-bang theology and Darwinian Evolution, and a host of other sinful deeds that will be eliminated during the reign of Jesus Christ, our Holy God. But ONLY during the Millennial Reign is Satan bound so as not to deceive the nations. So, the Millennial Reign has to be different, in fact better than the rest of history. Outside of the Millennial Reign, Satan is not bound, so he is clearly deceiving the nations. This means, in a nutshell, when Satan is not bound=bad times. When Satan is bound=good times, nations NOT deceived. I think you are convinced on preterism whether scripture agrees or not.

Paul is pretty clear: obey the governing authority for it has been put before us by God. Yet, so many churches today teach their followers to believe that government is against them or some kind of enemy. Its absolutely spinning the word of God to fit their preferred narrative. Faith & commitment is hard work. If it was easy, everyone would do it, as well….there would b no value. Church leaders keep making religious practice easier in order to slow the flow of people leaving. But wouldnt a few true believers committed to the true creeds & practices of faith b better than thousands of ‘im here if it’s convenient….’ ? Sacrifice, even at the top of the spiritual ladder is required to sustain a pure line from history through today. Pastors should not entice people by creating a common enemy out of government amongst their communities.

@@victorcritelli5790 Revelation (and all Scripture for that matter) views things primarily from the spirit realm. remember, at the beginning of John's vision, he is told to "come up here" to be shown what happens (Rev. 4:1). Preterism takes this into consideration. Jerusalem being sieged and the temple being destroyed were not small in any sense. This was a huge cataclysmic event with far-reaching implications. To say otherwise is to diminish the horrible suffering God's people went through. Josephus records over one million killed. How is that small?

@@BuildingApologetics So Many, Cant list but a few too much time, for one thing, many times they build their case on the fact that pretrib (not premil) is false its not in the bible or debunking some dispensationalist teacher as proof they are right. They act is if premillennial and dispensational is the same thing when most of them know it is not I can get into a bunch like things One thing I want to get out of the way many people try and make it and argument for it all being fulfilled vrs it had nothing to do with 70 AD neither are true, Rather it is both, Remember in the Olivet discourse Jesus was asked 3 questions not one not 2 and this is not by accident However, going to the scripture is a much bigger thing, While there is many a huge one is an Abomination that causes desolation,.They have no reasonable answer for this, Everyone I heard is in no way a fit for scripture One they say its Caligia who wanted to put a statue in the temple but was turned away then was assassinated before he could do it, another is the flags of the Roman army had pagan gods on them so that was it Probably the most popular is they point to Luke saying the armies surrounding IS the AOD Problems In Luke it is not called AOD and In Mathew Jesus spacififcly said WHen you see the AOD standing IN the holy place Clearly cannot be armies surrounding the city Also, 2nd Thess 2 States as daniel does the same the man of sin standing in the temple claiming to be GOD, They claim the man of sin is actually the rebellion of the jews as if that made any sense at all Its interesting in Mathew as well Mathew states as spoken of by daniel (LET THE READER UNDERSTAND) They just can't get past the AOD at all Besides that rev 1:7 Rev 7:2 Rev 12 all the plagues in rev the waters turned to blood and many other things did not happen in 70 AD Or in Matthew Jesus states tribulation that never was before nor after AND if those days were not cut short no flesh would survive COULD not be reduced to exaggeration, I would contend to do so would be unbelief in what Jesus himself said and to do so would allow changing any of the scripture, This si what the Catholics do to make adam and eve into a poem and yada yada Jesus himself warned not to be deceived if they say he came this way or that way and you didn't see, As lightning cames from the east to the west It cant be missed consider rev 1:7 7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. ALso Rev 6:15 15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, LOL the rebuttal I got for that several times was Earth should be translated land, My answer and then? HOW does that change things? But thier partial preterism would make all that up to erev 20 to be fulfilled in 70 AD They have to exlain away so many scriptures to make it work Including they take the Verse This generation completely out of its obvious context to make it mean the people standing there, from there they have to deal with so many other scriptures falsy to keep up with that idea But it was part of a prabale he just said all the sings to watch for, Then He said a parable the fig tree when its leaves get tender then you know summer is near So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. What things the sings just mentioned and go a step further he said heaven and earth shall pass away but my words will never pass away this indicates a lot of time, The very next thing a time statement “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only He goes on to give lessons about this how it will surprise many and varies parable about servent who fall asleep because of the masters long time being gone Paul gives same such reason You are not of the darkness that you should be taken as a thief There is way too much more to type

Saying this can't be possible because the Roman armies wouldn't fit in the holy place is nonsense and nitpicking. Just a few minutes in an I've some problems with a couple assertions: 1. "If everything is holy then nothing is holy" vis a vis saints' days. One may be opposed to saints' days, but this is a poor reason. It's akin to the argument that weekly Communion is bad because it makes it too common. In the realm of holiness, sanctification and such, everything is called to be holy. Indeed, this is the great hope, that God will be "all in all," in complete communion with His thrice-holiness. 2. Pastor Doug preaches often about the growth of the Kingdom of God in this world as a mustard seed. One thinks also of the stone cut "without hands" or the great tree that spread out through all the earth, both in Daniel. If the Kingdom of God is going to grow up in this world, in this age, it will do so by overtaking, infilling everything and everyone. That can only ever mean that eventually everyone becomes a saint, every day a holy day, every act one of worship. Were the Reformers so smart to take actual evidence of this and squelch it?

Here is the other thing If YOur interpretation held water you would think the next generation would have also held that belief, But Here Justin Martyr Said otherwise "But if so great a power is shown to have followed and to be still following the dispensation of His suffering, how great shall that be which shall follow His glorious advent! For He shall come on the clouds as the Son of man, so Daniel foretold, and His angels shall come with Him. Hah! Futurists always read themselves into the prophecies for that generation not ours. Peter said "the end of all things were near" 1st Peter 4:7 then not in the 21st century. Jesus was dealing with the end of Israel and the temple cult. Another interesting passage "This age or the one that is about to be. There were only 2 ages. The animal sacrifice age and the next age the age of the Messiah. Furturist Eschatology is the biggest plague on the modern church even the post Millennial partial Preterist movement. The destruction of Jerusalem was salvation and judgment. The spiritual kingdom is eternal without end. See the passage in Luke 1:32-33 with the messenger Gabrial declared His kingdom will have no end. The Covenant Eschatology is understanding. Partial Preterists are still hoping instead of enjoying what eternal life is.

For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation-as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Victor you aren't happy with the spiritual kingdom. What CGI Orchestrated picture show do you want. Every time passage in The Revelation of Jesus Christ has nothing to do with some modern day fantasy of carnal thinking. Sorry Brother your carnal applications are not theology. They are wishes based on lost thinking. You want the city mot made with hands to be physical. It isn't! You want to hold on to passages that do not have prophetic fulfillment today. Plenty of examples today of the same malevolent spiritual destruction because the modern church is now dominated by weak preaching and the idiotic "perhaps today" eschatology. Have a good day.

I appreciate a lot he says. But if he is a baby sprinkler he missed the texts don't teach that at all. So he needs a burden message leveled against him. Hopefully I am incorrect in that assessment of Doug.

What do you do with the scripture Satan is the god of this world or the whole world is under the sway of the evil one. Besides the fact that it is still true, The evil still gains wealth and power, The unsaved are still swayed by the evil one, Man you turn the gospel on its head, Jesus taught us to take the attitude as when he was on the cross ""Father forgive them for they know not what they do'", Both Peter and Paul taught us to submit to evil govts ..Peter said The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. BUT you act as if you are a disposed of king with the right to the govts and the laws, YOu don't want to die as we are told to lay down our lives as Jesus taught us and John showed us in rev, You want to fight, Jesus said my kingdom is not of this world or my servent would fight, YOu want to make ""men submit buy bible or bayonette"", Its an antichrist gospel

The ONLY problem with preterism is that it is wrong, otherwise, it's pretty cool! Anybody can get excited about a theory, but it better work out in real life! All of this stuff hasn't happened yet! Much of Matthew 24 is still waiting in the wings. Matthew 25.31ff hasn't happened, so WHY would you say Caiaphas saw 26.64? Isaiah 24 hasn't happened! The world STILL stands! Revelation 8 and 9 haven't happened. Revelation 13, 14, and 15 haven't happened! Isaiah 63.1-6 hasn't happened, therefore Revelation 17, 18 and 19 are yet to come. I mean, I'm not gonna sit here and in 5 minutes reference all the scripture still waiting to be enacted. Heck, it's taken John MacArthur years, and he's STILL not finished! ( I'll probably be in the grave before that day!) Doug, YOU are as cool as they come...at least in my book - but you're off a bit here.

The phrase "coming in the clouds" refers to His activity and judgment in the nations not His second coming. The phrase "Coming in the clouds" is not used of the second coming of Christ anywhere. It used to describe His judgment. Isaiah 9;1 where he comes in judgment against Egypt. or Daniel 7:13 where it clearly says he is coming with the clouds into His kingdom, not his return, the second coming. Mark 14:62 is another place this phrase is used where it is clearly not referring to the second coming. Secondly, the signs in the sun and moon, if you read Josephus there were many signs in the heavens between Christ's ascension and the siege of 70 ad.
