Im so glad beyond words, that i just found this interview. I have ADHD and ASD and Borderline Personality Disorder and am treated like a manipulative monster by medical practitioners and most friends give up on me for being "too much" I have attempted suicide several times. I have a self harm problem and have had very little help with the things i struggle with until recently. I am not manipulative I just struggle with communication both receptive and expressive. And i just dont "get" how to act and interact in the world around me. But i try so hard.

I was diagnosed with Borderline as well in my 20s! My now doctor believes it was a misdiagnosis, and I've been reassessed and diagnosed with ADHD/Anxiety with OCD Tendencies . It makes so much more sense now!

This has filled my heart with so much happiness. Olivia is an inspiration and she should be proud. I'm going to sit down and watch this again with my daughter to show her what she can achieve in life. I cried many tears of joy watching this. Thank you 😊 💓

I just want to say thank you so much for this video, it gives us so much hope . Although my 4 year old daughter has not been diagnosed yet and the paediatricians think she has social communication difficulties, but watching this video gave me so much peace of mind. My daughter communicates by leading us to things she wants ,has always been very good at giving eye contact , loves loud music no eating problem, but only sings nursery rhymes not using functional language, which is why the paediatricians think she might not be on the spectrum. So right now they are just giving us time to see how she progresses and at the same time offering her support (SALT). Lots of love 💕

I’ve just spent the past two hours watching your videos and I have already learned so much but I am particularly glad I watched this video. I am currently the “acting mother” of my boyfriends 4 year old non-verbal little girl going through a surgery TOMORROW for adenoid removal, ear fluid removal and tubes because she can not hear or breathe very well. My boyfriend and I have spent the past year pouring everything into this child to get her help and to get her well because I see how smart she really is and she has come leaps and bounds from when I met her just over a year ago. Our little one has not been properly diagnosed with autism due to her hearing being the primary issue but all signs still point to yes for me. I say all of this because this video of Olivia telling her story has given me hope and re-ignighted my drive to help this baby in this extremely difficult time I am in. It is so hard to have an autistic and sick child but it is increasingly hard to join this situation willingly in a “step parent” role and sometimes I just feel like giving up. This video has just given me the strength I needed to keeping pushing for this baby girl. Thank you so much for being here Olivia and thank you so much Tara for giving this to the world. You are both the answer to my prayers. ❤️

I have come across your channel researching ways to help and encourage a child i work with on a 1:1 basis in a mainstream school. I think your an incredible mummy and i love your need for continued knowledge and information. This amazing video is amazing for myself to be able to see the affects my use of language and actions can help in him having a happy and successful future. The massive thing that caught my attention was you saying dylan a few weeks later talking and having a meltdown about something that happened! I can completely relate to this scenario. Olivia is incredible!! So proud and happy for her xx

It's so nice to hear from other people with autism. My son was diagnosed at 2 years old and is now 4. I got diagnosed with autism this summer. Although I didn't know until recently I have always been very self aware and knew I did better in smaller classrooms. I chose to go to a smaller private college after high school and that really helped and I felt very supported. My son is currently in a state provided early intervention program, but he only gets to go 3 half days a week. We're looking into a private school for him for when he turns 5. I appreciate hearing both yours and your guest's experiences regarding education. This was lovely, thank you for sharing!

This is so inspiring. My daughter was just officially diagnosed yesterday at 2.5 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder- level 2, Sensory Processing Disorder, and OCD. To see a young woman go through so much and still come out so positive, caring, and successful means so much. We are just starting our journey and this channel has helped us to stay positive and given us techniques to process and make adjustments. I am really inspired by Olivia's story. She has achieved so much. Thank you for sharing her journey with us. I hope this ignites hope for the individuals and their families affected by autism. I am also on the autistic spectrum. When I was growing up there was very limited knowledge of autism. When I was three years old, a psychologist told my parents that I would never live independently, hold down a job or communicate in an efficient manner. They suggested that a care home would be the most appropriate option. My mother (being the dangerous liberal that she is) refused to comply. Instead, she fought to get me into mainstream education. Back then, it was extremely rare to get a child diagnosed with additional needs into a mainstream school. She succeeded, and I attended a wonderful Catholic school. I vomited with anxiety almost every day but thankfully they were very supportive. I met a wonderful classroom teaching assistant who took me under her wing. Secondary school was a living nightmare. I was self-harming and I ran away from home on several occasions. The school simply stated that I was a lazy underachiever who was not working to potential. My father insisted that I went to the so-called best school in the district. It may have had the best league table performance but the pastoral care was utterly deplorable. There were some kind and understanding teachers among them, but most of them appeared to care only about the league table performance, and not the personal, social and emotional wellbeing of the child. I eventually came through and gained my GCSE'S. I became proficient at playing the piano and I attended a really nice university where I gained my degree. I worked as a touring stage actor for several years and I worked as a pianist in collaboration with DJ Taucher(DJ Diver). I now work full-time as a primary school teaching assistant. I adore my job and I am determined to make a difference in the lives of young people. I want to do the best that I can and stop people from making the same mistakes. The understanding of autism is so much better compared to when I was a boy. I want to be part of that positive change. No young person should be made to feel like they are worthless. They are the future of the world! They need to be shown education, value, love and respect. Well done Olivia. Keep reaching for the stars. I believe in you.

Kids with Autism reading this I know how hard it is to endure years and years of bulling and "lessons to be normal" that other kids give (that could just have been me though). To Autism parents I can tell you that it's not easy and sometimes near impossible but never give up on your child even if they give up on themselves. If your still reading this I have Autism, SPD, SCD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, Irlen syndrome and sleep problems so do not think I know what I'm talking about. Also I'm 15 so yeah.

Good for her. I got bullied badly in elementary and middle school for being on the spectrum. Luckily by high school it stopped. Not sure if it was because I grew to 6-2 or people matured or both. It still had lasting psychological effects on me however

Olivia! What a delight to see you doing so well. Can you please tell us if you have taken extra vitamins when you were younger or worked on a diet. My soon is treating his gut and we see a major improvement on his behavior. He is 5 right now but I’m wondering if the diet will be forever. We start to do small breathing exercises and I can tell it has a positive impact. Can you make a video to talk a little more about that?

My 4.5son he is diaganosed with mild autisam.He only sing with nursery rhymes. Some times he is not proper eye contact.he is screaming we are going out. That time people look me very rough. He is crying and roll on the floor.iam so stress full and depressed at the moment. Some times i think my life is over.iam trying to susaid. But im looking my son face im rethinking again.some people said in front of me he is mental, bad boy, worst child.i can't controll my tears. Then i asking my docter. He said may be you face this kind of insult in this journy.what i do. He dont come back normal life.

I enjoyed the video so much! As you say , we as parents have so much questions about the future of our kids on the spectrum , so is great to see “ an example” of what could be 😁. I would love to ask Olivia on the subject of friendship: do you find it easier to be friend with other girls/ boys on the spectrum ? Are your friends all neurotypical? ... just curious 😉🤗

At 10:20, what is going on is time-delay meltdown, if you can call it that (my words, not tech speak), this is when low level anxieties build up, and eventually cause a meltdown, you are capable of dealing with a certain "capacity" that doesn't cause a meltdown on its own, but run through a fortnight of them, and.... it is inevitable! this is why the two week delay! he didn't recognise the incidents' impact on him, until the meltdown occurred, then EUREKA , that is why!!, when all the stress is released like the steam from a kettle, then he can think, and analyse what went on, in retrospect. ( people on the Autism spectrum need to learn ourselves, what we feel, what to call it, what sensitises us, what we can do to stop it, etc.).
