My notes from this match: -Once again, everyone goes after Wes for whatever reason when he's clearly not even in the game. -Tutoring for 3 tutors, aka everything wrong with competitive EDH -Sound effect volume was WAY too loud compared to the normal video volume. I had to turn the volume way up just to hear well because you guys tend to mumble a lot and talk in very low voices, then sad trombone about blew my speakers out, haha. -I hope everyone got their Competitive EDH fix with this one because EDH games where everyone is tutoring every turn desperately digging for their "I win" combos are extremely boring to watch, especially when they drag on and on due to everyone apparently being so focused on comboing that they forgot to include disruption for disruption. Still appreciate what you guys do, though. This is my favorite Magic gameplay series to watch, so keep it up!

Fun games. I just don't understand how decks filled to the brim with tutors fail to include a Swords to Plowshares or even a Path to Exile. Now it just became games where Elesh owns up the entire board because noone bothered to include some removal in the deck.

Parnell misplayed between 38:00 and 39:00. Warp Pridemage, Cast Food Chain, Kill table with Purphoros triggers. Also on minute 26, like said previously, Pridemage takes 1 to activate.

Around 24 minutes, when Stephen drew the entomb, he could have entombed alter of dementia, swung with Sun Titan to bring it back, then played Birthing Pod and still had 1 mana available to sac Titan, getting Boonweaver and executing the combo. That's all taking Thalia into account. With Wes mostly tapped out, Parnell with only green up (potentially relevant for Nature's Claim), and Suarez on derevi prison which is usually light on counters I would have gone for it.

How about a game of obscure tribal commander decks? I suppose you could do a regular tribal theme like elves vs merfolk vs zombies vs goblins, but it might be more fun using less common ones, like wolves and cats?

I feel like Wes was playing Kingmaker, unknowingly. Why didn't he blow up the skull clamp? It would make Justin a lot more manageable, but most likely giving Jonathan certain victory. Furthermore, Wes could have used Pull from Eternity when Jonathan used Venser on Gradle, setting him back quite a bit, mana wise.

Reivalark can't even get back boonweaver giant though is the problem though. It's power is 4 so his combo actually fizzled since he didn't have saffi on field or graveyard.

Hey I got a match up from a list of some of the most annoying commanders play against. Here they are Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon, Nekusar, the Mindrazer, Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, and Memnarch.

Why is this the only time they play with foils? Are these the decks they actually own?

It's funny that for the longest time Justin could have won by playing that food chain, as pridemage wouldn't be able to stop the "exile" of prosh and just he can just play it. Plus if he was tha worried he could have just chaos warped the pridemage on his turn then won.

Also if you were scared of Khasali pridmage don't be if you cast foodchain

I don't think you need to apologize for the Prossh turn I think you need to apologize for the deck.

I love how Commander is really focused on having fun and playing "fair." One week there was a new guy who came to our play group and he kept boasting about his combo deck that was supposedly super OP, and that first week he did win with some cheesy combo in multiple games. The next week one of the other guys made a deck that would destroy that guy's combo deck, and the combo deck lost hard multiple games in a row. The guy got the message that if you bring a combo deck to a non-competitive Commander game the rest of us will bury you with decks made to counter it. Since then he switched to playing more fun, relaxed commander decks and we're all back to having fun.

Im new to EDH but i would like to see a commander versus where u can only use cards from the set ur commander is in and the set an opposing commander is from. Ex: if u use Drana, liberator of malakir as ur commander and ur opponent uses tasigur the golden fang as his/her's thn u can only use cards from the BFZ and khans block.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't Justin have won earlier with Purphoros and Food Chain? Like, play Food Chain, sac Brutalizer Exarch, cast Prossh, go infinite with Food Chain, get infinite damage?

If the reason for having the search timer is to give a player incentive to not spend his entire turn searching (so as to not affect the flow of the game and other players) it should be fair that once the player passes his turn, his clock no longer counts down. This way, a player who just needs to tutor up a land but has nothing else to do for the turn can do so while other players are taking their turns, thus, not affecting the flow of the game nearly as much. However, should someone not pass their turn and continue to search because they are looking for a combo piece and are simply taking way too long (with the intention of either searching again or continuing their turn) then the counter should still award negative points at the 30 second interval because in this case the behavior is affecting the flow of the game and is slowing things down for everybody else. Yes, it was one hell of a run on sentence, but the point I am trying to make is there. I think this would improve the flow of the game whilst still keeping the scoring system fair and providing enough incentive to pass the turn.

Watching this 7 years later and still can’t see why justin needed Earthcraft. Just don’t cast it and sac Prossh, gain the 7 in any colour, add the missing colours, plus tax, recast Prossh, then restart the loop now saccing the kobolds for mana as well, once you have generated the infinite mana and alot of kobolds then do whatever you want, draw your deck, do whatever you like. Unless I’m seeing it all wrong
