thanks RobRob! good to know. Helpful for sure. I have less area to cover but I try to stay current on the 'solutions' that are out there.

Agree with the Winamp statement about Asus. I’ve tried the others including Asus et8 which is the newest and I still went back to my 6 pro Eero.

Really useful video as these are the three in particular I’m looking at! Just need to wait for the next eero price drops as they just went back up to full price!

Good assessment. I've had the Orbi AX4200 & now have the XT8. Both are great, except the 4200 didn't have 2.5WAN & now I have a yellow light (weak connection) on my XT8 node. The node is only about 50 feet from the router

I’m using Eero Pro 6, they now have the Eero Pro 6E with a 2.5GB port and a gigabit port on each router! I like them, I have used countless ISP supplied routers, Netgear, Orbi, Asus, UniFi, Amplifi, Google.. the Eero is nice fast stable, works, and the units blend in really really well and are subtle, it has the least number of problems the other brands do. Google never fix their problems, look on their forums to see that, I’m in the U.K. and Google turned off ipv6 for nearly THREE years due to ‘incompatibility issues’. I tried the Amplifi Alien which in the U.K. is only a dual band system, not the tri band the US models are. And they are VERY expensive, they work alright but the performance is not worth the money and the routers look damn ugly, large tall black things that look awful in the hallway where the internet comes in. Asus have firmware bugs as you say, they do perform well but you have to install custom firmware to make them stable? Orbi is meh, I had the first gen MESH system and they work for some of the time but not others a real mixed bag I found. UniFi, now these are powerful systems, I’ve had the UDM and the UDR in early access and a WiFi 6 Lite access point, infinitely configurable, very advanced options, but the firmware they release can break things and have bug after bug, and you REALLY need to know what your doing to set them up, as default they are set for office use not home use, so features that make streaming video better are turned off etc. they also have fans in the systems that can be a point of failure and the UDM and UDR cannot be taken apart to service them, I had real issues getting things like my dogs tracker to work with them, or ipv6 from the UDR on anything. Very complicated and you spend half your time fiddling with it all. So in the end I thought screw it, I saw the Eero Pro 6 was finally available here in the U.K. and grabbed two routers, work great, reliable and fast. And the apps brilliant I think. All my devices just work with them too.

Had an Eero (not the latest) then purchased the ORBI 853 series, Performance is great on the ORBI, the IOS app is terrible, and then the latest firmware caused WI-FI performance issues. Had to do a factory reset on all units, and it could not setup via the IOS app, had to use the web interface. Just ordered my EERO PRO 6, and I know their app is sharp/polished/works.. my only concern is the eero is ax4200 vs the ax6000.. i have 1G download, and 50meg upload..

Eero sucks for us. It randomly loses connection. We have internet too, the mesh devices just go red. We have to reset them. Happens once sometimes twice a day.

I bought the ZenWifi AX...it constantly disconnects on the other AiMesh wireless access point. I'm in networking and the logs for this is useless. Nothing to say why this is disconnecting. Support was useless. I only get disconnects on the mesh WAP. The main one never has disconnects issues. I've done wireless channel mappings and all are fine. When working it is great. My backplane is using the 5.2 channel. I think this is my main issue. If I could wire in my backplane I would do that...

Hi, I'm planning to buy asus xt8 and I've got dilemma- 2-pack or 3-pack. The house has around 360m2. Unfortunately main node can't be in a central place- all ethernet cables are going to house's corner (near garage). If I buy 2-pack, second node will be in central room. I'm not sure how will it work. Of course eventually 3-pack (I think there will be no problem with range and speeds). Would you help me?

you can start with 2 and always add a third later if it's not working well enough. I had a very similar setup- main unit in a front corner upstairs, and the second node worked just as fine on the opposite end of the house as it did in the central area.

Your opinions seem good to me. Orbi is indeed great hardware and garbage software and it’s incredible that they get away with their pricing. You didn’t even mention how much they market their services in the app which drives me nuts!! Every other time I open the app I get a full screen ad to pay for their antivirus and 70% off or some ridiculous gimmick like that.

I have the WiFi 5 version of the Orbi system. I recently upgraded to a 1Gbs connection. I currently get 650Mbs from my current Orbi. Do you think the WiFi 6 version works improve this?
@robrobsworkshop

Maybe a little bit but not $750 worth would be my guess. I'd probably wait until connection speeds increase substantially or things break to justify the (hefty) expense of an upgrade.
