Today, we'll take a look at two divers from Omega, the Seamaster 300 (Ref: 233.30.41.21.01.001) and the Seamaster Planet Ocean 43.5 8900 (Ref: 215.30.44.21.03.001), talking about the similarities, differences, and appeal of both.

Later that day at the mental hospital... "Yeah this one's weird. We've got a guy in a batman mask rambling about "helium release valves". " I'll prepare the antipsychotics right away sir".

I love your reviews and how they are always a unique take we have not heard before. However, you describe the dial on the 300 MC as "plastic with a little bit of lume painted on it" which is a fair statement as that is pretty much the look. But it is a sandblasted ceramic dial with a "sandwich" style look achieved through recessed cutouts filled with lume. So while it does go for that super simple look, there is a little bit more effort that has gone into it than it seems.

Nick, are you planning on getting a recent mechanical Aqua Terra for enjoyment and comparison against the others?

I have the Planet Ocean 8900 and I dive to over 300 feet sometimes, so it works well for me. Never had any problems even at close to 400 feet.

I have used Heliox before also though for longer dives. Learned on Dragers but when I got to more advanced and deep diving use MK now.

Well, the Seamaster 300 is good to nearly 1000 feet, so you'd really be good with either, right?

Why do so many watch reviewers fail to show the watches on the wrist? So frustrating!!
@DMBVR46 жыл бұрын
I actually enjoy the white seconds hand on the 300. That's how it was done on the original in 1957, and it also reminds me of my skx which I love. Also, I'm easily entertained with watching the sweep of my seconds hands... so the pop of white makes it just that much easier and enjoyable. Just my thoughts.

Just got a Planet Ocean Chronometer (9900 movement). Probably way too big for you to have considered but I love it. Thanks for the vid, Nick. On the latest Planet Oceans there is no play, much like the 300 here. I love my Planet Ocean, although I am just waiting for my old Seamaster Pro 300 to come back from Switzerland after service and restore...

Interesting. I've handled a few brand new (2017) POs and had the same play. Maybe it's unit-to-unit?

Could be. I picked mine up at the Omega Boutique in Munich. I handled three or four and all were solid. Perhaps the German customers are more selective....;). One a footnote, even Boutiques will discount if you ask nicely.

Planet Ocean every day of the week. Now a few months after buying it, finally, other of my watches do get some wrist time. I have a 7" wrist but as I am 6 foot 2 the size is perfect, but truth be told, I could do with the helium escape valve and it could loose some weight. Both are fantastic timepieces but it is something with the Planet Ocean....

Hey Nick! Could you do me and my countrymen a HUGE favour and do a quick PSA about Canada's recent decision to basically ban most one-hand opening knives from importation? Please tell your Canadian subs to check out Kevin Cleary's video on the subject and contact their local MP's about it. Thank you and love your content!

That's a multi level dial on the 300 seamaster, not just painted lume.

I love that blue dial and prefer the brushing on the bracelet. I also enjoy the wow factor you refer too. I’ve considered a Rolex Submariner but they’re so hard to get and the Planet Ocean ticks a lot of important boxes for me. I love both but the Omega is waiting for me and not me for it. I like the way you talk and think Nick.

Dear Mr Wayne, I believe that I would prefer the vintage style due to its simple style and lower profile. Let’s face it, I’m not a diver and I really only buy a watch for how it looks and performs its daily function of telling time.

I like the look of the seamaster better, if it had a date at 3 or 4 o'clock it would be a lot better. Don't care about the polished bracelet cause I'd put it right on a black nato. Not that it matters cause I'll never have 5 grand for a watch.

Hi Nick, loving your watch reviews but I have to tell you that it is not normal to have that much play in the bezel of these Planet Oceans. I have owned 3 of these watches and none of them had any play at all!

besides thickness a big a noticeable difference is lug to lug length and the curvature of them. Makes a big difference how these sit on the wrist. If you miss something this simple your reviews cannot be taken seriously.

Nick how the hell do you afford this? Are you secretly the CEO of Z Hunter? And you use this channel as a way to sell your products by making them the worst knives in existence however but my making them so crappy you've caused a cult culture around them???
