Alfa Romeo? No Problem!

Alfa Romeo? No Problem!

Hello guys! Replacing these components may not be too difficult, but it certainly brings a lot of detail! Attention to detail is crucial in any repair and this one is full of them! From attention to the tightening position to protection of the fastening and alignment screws.
Alignment is the key word at the end of this intervention or any other involving the replacement or modification of suspension components in any car make!
Stability and confidence are back, yes! And the repair was much cheaper than you might think! not for the price of the parts but for being made a correct diagnosis before starting to change parts for nothing! Always confirm the fault! Be it an electrical, mechanical or any of its derivations!

Hey, how are you? I'm really glad this was helpful for you. Maybe your friends may find this useful too. Please share it. I have a lot of experience on alignments, on the front it should be neutral. At best 0,04 degree toe in, when having around 2 degree camber

I did this job on my Alfa GT a year or two ago, but I have to take it all apart again now because the rear shocks have collapsed - this video is just in time to refresh my memory! Being in the UK every bolt was rusty and stuck, I'm hoping this time will be easier because I put grease on every single bolt and connection I could. Maybe I should move to Portugal!

Hello. Yes, corrosion is a huge problem! We do have it here in Portugal too. Imported cars from snow and salt countries, and cars from the sea side. So what you did is what I do, lots of grease and hope for the best. But yes, 90% are rust free. Portugal is a beautiful country. But the quality of life is low. Low wages and everything is very expensive.

working on a car without rust is so much easier, my 156 is from 2002 and looks so bad compared to this one, once I had to replace the rear trailing arms because they rusted inside out (can send you some pictures of it) and it took me 5 hours just because of one out of six bolts was stuck, great tutorial as usual

Soo easy and nice to work on a rustfree car. Lucky you. I am actually just about to do this job, but I am going for adjustable control arms due to that I have lowered my car 35 mm and want to introduce camber control in the rear. Keep up the good work. Waiting to see how to replace the front anti roll bar (ARB), a limited slip diff (LSD) and easiest way to take out the emgine. ;-)

@DashCamSerbia
@DashCamSerbia 2 жыл бұрын
@@alfaromeonoproblem Well, that makes choosing tyres very easy for you. :D Just get some UHP summer ones, and you are good to go. While we have to see if we should get all season tyres, or get two sets of summer/winter, then if we should get another set of wheels, or keep changing tyres on the same set. Then when shudl we change the tyres. Where should we store them, and so on. :(

The down side is in Portugal all crappy tyres are good enough. We have lost of accidents due to bad tyres, used ones, Chinese crap.. it should have more tightly laws and rules. The age of the tyres was meant to be, but.. 99% wore ilegal.

Do you know what is the length of these two OE transverse arms? Aftermarket ones got very different lengths. Delphi arm is 648mm while FAG is 592mm - same part number and same transverse arm.

Great. Love these kinds of videos. And I just love aluminium suspension parts. I hate steel, it just rusts and seizes up, and is heavier. And that makes me wonder, if subframes on Brera are made of steel and known to rust (depending of the country), why no aftermarket manufactorer (or Alfa it self) made an aluminium subframe for it? It would solve the rust problem, and would lighten the car. Also, a facelifted Brera has more susspension components made out of aluminium instead of steel, so it makes me wonder if it is possible to install those aluminium parts on a pre-facelift Brera? Regarding grease. I would not use it on the threads, since it is a lubricant, and when you tighten a bolt with a torque wrench, you will end up tightening it with higher torque (because the specified is the dry torque, not lubricated). I would use new bolt (unless the old one is intacked), stainless or galvanized (new bolts too), so it should not seize in years, and also apply medium streinght threadlock on the threads. And I would always change the complete arm,not just the bushings and resusing the old arm. If you keep reusing the old arm, due to metal fatigue, it can break one day during driving.

Hello. About the grease, I do put normal grease on any components. I'm aware of the consequences. This is not grease, it's a anti seize compound. Perfect for this and made for this situations. I use it in lug nuts even! Did it on hundreds or thousands of cars. It not come undone. The 939 used GM systems and parts, because of Saab, they wore stoped to create a better product
@DashCamSerbia
@DashCamSerbia 2 жыл бұрын
@@alfaromeonoproblem Yeah, but anti seize is basically grease, with added components (metals, ceramics, minerals, graphite,...). So, post-facelift components don't fit on the pre-facelift?
