And some celebrities supported Leno. The real issue was nobody really knew what happened except Leno and Conan. Unfortunately Leno, for whatever reason, chose not to respond, unlike Conan who couldn't stop. Leno's silence made him look bad. @@mervinprone You got one thing right. Leno did hide in a closet and listened in on what the NBC's execs were saying about TTS. However, he did NOT take TTS from Letterman. Letterman NEVER had the job. The execs did not want him. Carson wanted him as his replacement, but he didn't own the show. Leno was chosen because he had been guest hosting for -5- years and when he did, TTS numbers remained consistent. "Imagine what he did to Conan"??? You offer no specifics. Here are some for you. Conan cut a deal behind Leno's back to get TTS. His ratings were dismal. He resisted changing his routine up to reach a broader audience and refused NBC's suggestion to move back 30min and let Leno do a 1/2hr show at 11:30. Leno's monologue was the highest rated. This would have given Conan the lead in he whined about. He refused... and then he QUIT. One more thing... where were all you Conan fans when he was hosting TTS? I wonder how much of the whole fiasco was Conan's doing, versus how much was his agent. Leno was pressured into giving up the Tonight Show by NBC, who were being pressed by Conan's agent, that if he didn't get the Tonight Show immediately he'd go to another network and compete directly with Jay. NBC finally offered the infamous five-year plan. But by then, Conan wasn't as hot, and so NBC hedged their bets by putting Leno on at 10:00, which he was not in favor of. Both shows completely tanked, and NBC had little choice but to revert to the status quo. People think Jay planned to retire, and then he promised the Tonight Show to Conan out of the kindness of his heart. Nothing could be further from the truth, but Conan sure sold it. I like Conan. I have a few issues with Jay. So I'm not just taking shots here. Everybody laughed when I made jokes about the Conan/Leno fued I hosted a Charity event in 2011 I did almost got kicked out when The Guy I was replacement wanted to come back to the show but not as host but as a performer U see he left due to personal problems so he asked people Directing/Producing so whos replacing me? he is told Kelly Berry the guy was like oh good ive seen his work hes funny but when he came back they wanted to give it back to him but hes like Oh no no no I promised it to Kelly he stays (he saw what Leno did to Conan he didnt want that to happen) I even joked about it in the Monologue at the opening by saying Im sorry im just waiting to have Jay Leno screw me so NBC will pay me to leave just like Conan im not sure if it was my impression of Conan I did or the Jokes that made the audience laugh but it was fun the guy I replaced was about 7 ft tall and left big shoes to fill no really his shoes were in my dressing room im around 5 feet so no the shoes would not have fit me

Sad how Conan who is one of the wealthiest and most successful celebrities there is couldn't stop crying about losing The Tonight show or blaming Leno for his crappy ratings.

I’m Scottish. The Irish were never jealous of Italians. The Irish are fantastic. They’re hard working, they’re funny and they clawed their way to the top when Italians were still slithering in the gutter 😂

@@Highland_Moo Nah, they still have a laughable standard of living and with no goals nor even dreams. Go to Appalachia, Scotland, Ireland, most of Canada or Australia then say that lol. The Anglosphere is a giant trailer park and ghetto now with neck tattoos & weird piercings. That's why nobody assimilates nowadays especially immigrants from Asia, the Arab countries or even Mexico lol. What are you marrying into again? I'm an Italian American and I can't wait to get out of here. All of the reasons for why my grandfather came here no longer exist.

Just comes off as bitter. Sorry Conan... maybe doing the cat eyebrows before every opening monologue... yaaaaa maybe didn't seem that authentic or off the cuff anymore. Maybe your whole thing was to "have a career" but you're actually not that funny. You never did the stand up scene... because you're not a stand up. You went to Harvard and tried to figure out how to "have a career" in show biz. You were always playing a character or personality to get ahead in "your career".
