Personally I always preferred John's outdoor clips, usually in the woods or his own back yard. Sure am glad we can still access these classic videos by him. I'll be re-watching them from now on, with fond remembrance of a great guy.

I wish I had been introduced to the YTPC while John was still around. Seems like such a genuine and good guy. I can see why he was a joy for anyone who came across his channel. Good vid as always. My early experience with burley was with cheap drugstore blends, but once I discovered the good stuff... There's no denying that smooth, nutty goodness is one of the great pleasures of smoking a pipe.

My wife, who was at the other side of the house heard me playing this vid dropped what she was doing and came into my office and got me to restart it so she could also watch. Love the location, my kind of place. I'd get lost there with an Audiobook... Lots of trees to sling my hammock. A cooler with Iced Tea, Ham or Roast Beef Sandwich and Flask of Coffee, and I'd be as happy as a big in mud.

I love the gunfire in the background, the woodpecker, he was never one to get upset with trying to achieve a some unnatural studio sound, void of what sounds the world has to offer even if it was a lawnmower. You get to live sort of victoriously through a video that’s done outside in nature.

I got another confession to make.....I like Burley too.....it's brings out nothing but the best, the best, the best part of you. RIP John, still enjoying your videos.

Just had my first bowl of C&D Cube Cut Burley. And all I can say is ... Hubba Hubba four times around the car park and back in again for a Va Va Voom! Close to the ultimate burley experience IMHO. Ahh the great fireplace, one of my favorite locations you filmed at. I myself have tested the Virginia waters and I find that I am also a burley lover. That and latakia blends hit the spot depending on my mood. Glad these are still available for us all to enjoy even though you are gone brother. Hopefully you'll have the ultimate burley blend ready when I get up there to join you.

I ordered the 5100 Red Cake and I totally agree. It's so smooth that sometimes it's fantastic and sometimes bland depending on what meal you've had.

I'd say you're more of a BurPer guy -- considering Haunted Bookshop and Old Joe Krantz are Burley/Perique heavy :) I'm still working through my tin of Gentleman Caller. So good. I'm eager to play around with Burley. I'm growing a few varieties this year and burley is the one I know I can cure and prepare properly as it basically just requires air curing. We'll see how it goes.

After coming back to Pipe Smoking after 25 years I really enjoy your reviews. I grew up on both White and Black Sobranies, English Dunhill blends, and with some Virginas /VaPers. I avoided Burleys like the plague because everything i had tried with Burly was so heavily flavored it tasted like shit to me. So my ego really fancies itself an English Blend guy. I've really resisted trying Burleys due to my earlier experiences. However, I live in a place that gets really hot in the Summer and the English Blends are just too much. So after watching your reviews I've ventured into the land of Burly Tobacco. I bought bulk samplings of Mac Barren's Golden Extra; Symphony; and Old Dark Fired. I love ODF ! So in spite of seeing myself an English Blend dude, the truth is I'm quickly becoming a Burley devotee. My go to will be ODF. I can't hardly believe I'm saying it. So thnx in helping me expanding my Pipe Smoking horizons.

A few of the local tobacconists have some London Blend tins left, so I have been stocking up! Great stuff!

Still got one tin left, lucky me! ;-) MacB Golden Blend (Golden Extra in the US, I guess) is said to be similar but for me it's just not quite up there. Have you ever tried this one?
