Conservation of Momentum
When two bodies act upon one another their total momentum remains constant provided no external forces are acting on it.
Let the velocities before collision be u1 and u2 respectively.
Velocities after collision be v1 and v2 respectively.
Masses will remain same after the collision.
Initial momentum = m1u1 + m2u2
Final momentum = m1v1 + m2v2
FAB = -FBA
m1a1 = -m2a2
m1 [v1 - u1]/t = -m2 [v2 - u2]/t
m1v1 - m1u1 = m2v2 - m2u2
m1v1 + m2v2 = m2u2 + m1u1
Hence proved,
Total momentum before collision = Total momentum after collision .
