Control A Player Counter With Verse In UEFN

In this tutorial we control a Player Counter Device for the purposes of detecting a player to then spawn a boss enemy creature to defend the house we're trying to get in to. This is a good one and easy to understand for sure for those new to Verse.

I've been using mutator zones as my volume for triggering things when one player enters or exits a volume. I never even looked at the player counter device. That's pretty rad.

That's also an option, but I think the player counter volume has more options for what can be done outside of just seeing when a player shows up

Great tutorial 👍 One unrelated question , is it possible to move/teleport creature_placer_device at runtime ? (or overwrite location it spawns the creature? ) Tried multiple ways and none seems to work...

Thanks! Glad you liked it. I don't know actually, I've never tried. I imagine it's possible... I don't think you can set where the monsters spawn but moving the device shouldn't be impossible

Hey can you make a tutorial on a Team Deathamtch style score board for kills. For example on the right its Team 1 Kills : 5. On the left of the screen its Team 2 Kills: 2

So, dumb question here, but I've been thinking about this a lot lately since I'm trying to make a good boss for my game. So, what is the difference between a Boss (especially the Final Boss) and just a really bad, hard badguy? In my game I'm making it so that you have to kill the Final Boss, because he is standing right in front of the device to activate the Endgame (maybe you have to get a keycard or something before the Endgame device activates.) But, other than being crazy hard to beat, and being right in front of the Endgame activater, what differentiates a Final Boss from his really really bad badies? Just a philosophical gamedev question, I guess...

Generally the boss is the toughest guy around kind of thing. Most hits to eliminate, most powerful or fastest etc.

@@GraemeBull Groovy, okay, cool. I figured the Boss had to have a bunch of story involved with killing him, but thats really plot armor, and probably too much star wars in my childhood.

@ijustmakegamesnow906 well, story in a game is really important for sure. So building up to the main antagonist is a good idea.
