I am cooking on the Esse Ironheart, a wood burning stove. I think it very English to bake your own pie. But first I need to work up an appetite!
My videos are about searching for what England means to me. It is a personal journey.

This time of year it often helps to have a pair of choppers in your pocket to deal with bramble smothered paths!

You are wasted on KZfaq you should be on one of the TV Channels in some way. These videos are so natural and the unplanned humour is to Gold.

So lovely to see you out walking in nature again…. It’s what first started me following you ! …. Food made with love is what it’s all about sometimes even if the finished product wasn’t how you intended it to be 🙂

Bake the bottom half of pastry first then add filling and top off with the other half of pastry the bake for another half hour until browned. Easy peasy. 😄

One does generally add at least a little water to pastry. And this obsession with not touching it can be taken a little too far, but I would tend to avoid breathing on it, while not suffocating myself in the process. Loved watching; scenery; seeing the device in action and then being made to feel like a chef to boot!

I’m not going to give you any advice Richard, I am no cook. I haven’t made a pie for years and I tend to use shop bought pastry. So I applaud you for having a go and actually sharing the evidence with us. Some beautiful scenery on the downs especially as you were coming back down the path. Isn’t it amazing what a difference a bit of sunshine makes?

Was so good to see you back out in green surroundings! How did women(mainly) make pastry back in the days before mixers ‐ fingertips, Richard, fingertips!! Maybe a white sauce with the chicken and leeks? Moist ! Well done for trying esp whilst filming :)
