Thank you. This was excellent to see the different combinations. Everyone's video setup is a little different, so I was having trouble grasping the concept. Seeing a variety of items that truly work on one unit helped me to understand the concept better.

The All Season Solar Cooker Camper model is about 40% larger and will hold a turkey roaster. Unfortunately there is no glassware large enough for the turkey roaster so I use the supplied cooking bags (which can be used many times over)

Can you make pop corn with the SolCook? What is the setup? How long does it take? Does anyone have a multi SolCook setup? Make a roast in one, veggies in another :) ...

I'm in Texas and went through the 2021 Icepocalypse. Never want to feel that helpless again. This demo sold me on getting one. It's so helpful to be able to visualize how to actually use it. Thank you! I'm interested in boiling or pasteurizing water, too. Did you paint the outside of the gallon Ball jar with black high heat paint? How did you do it?

Thankyou for showing these methods. I'm wondering if the black pans were bought from camping/ fishing stores?

The springform pans are found in most Target or Walmart stores. The pots are part of a set "Texsport Black Ice Trailblazer" which can be found online

Very helpful video. Is there a reason that you sometimes cover the 4qt Pyrex bowl with a pie plate instead of another 4qt Pyrex bowl? Is there an advantage in keeping the set up smaller?

Not that I have measured. Its just a combination that may work well for some pots

This was very useful. It's nice to know that such a wide array of relatively inexpensive cooking pots can be used. One question -- you often use opaque lids. Have you tried tempered glass lids? It would be helpful to see the food as it cooks.

Yes. My first cookware was "camping" and glass lids were not used. I have since found glass lids in thrift stores and have a variety to fit my pots. If I were to purchase a pot now, I would get the dark, 3-4 qt saucepans from target or Walmart. They usually come with glass lids.

Where can I purchase the supporting base the cookware is being placed upon?

That triangular trivet was something we manufactured years ago. They are no longer available. We replaced the trivet with a folding wire cooling rack. Target has a 3 pack for $9.99

Thanks very much! What size pie plate do you place over the 4 quart pyrex bowl?
@JimLaJoieAllSeasonSolarCooker3 ай бұрын
Standard 10”. Many pie plates will have wavy edges, this is ok. An airtight seal is not necessary. You can put the pie plate on the bottom or the top

Why does it need to be in a glass bowl first?
@oldtimerlee8820 Жыл бұрын
Using the glassware creates an oven, as does using a plastic turkey roasting bag. An oven traps the heat around the pan or pot that contains the food. The oven in a kitchen stove does the same thing. It traps the heat and allows it to circulate around the food being cooked. Making a clear oven from glass, allows the sun rays to be absorbed by (heating) the dark cooking containers inside the oven. Hope this helps.

Hi. If I don't have a black pot, can I wrap my stainless steel pot in a black piece of fabric or a black painted piece of thin cardboard ?
@oldtimerlee8820 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can give it a try. Look for cotton material that is black. Can be towels, pillow cases or plain fabric from a sewing store/department. You can try black construction paper, as it would be easier than painting cardboard. If you have cardboard, creasing it on the inside, a number of times, will aid it helping to shape it for a tight fit around your pot. Hope this helps, if you haven't already found a solution that works for your.
