This week we delve into the enigmatic life of brutal criminal Dale Cregan, an infamous English drug dealer and murderer who gained notoriety for his involvement in a series of brutal crimes. Here are the key details about him!
Cregan was a ruthless and intimidating figure in the criminal underworld, he ran things in Tameside making people uncomfortable with his presence. In 2012 Cregan committed a series of murders, he killed father and son Mark and David Short in separate attacks and went on the run and later murdered police officers Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone.
Cregan’s crimes involved the use of firearms and he showed no hesitation in resorting to violence to achieve his goals. Cregan became one of Manchester’s most wanted men after the police shootings, he eventually turned himself in to Tameside police station. He faced four counts of murder (including the police officers deaths) and three counts of attempted murder.
Cregan received a whole life order in prison, ensuring he would spend the rest of his life behind bars!

Boy, oh boy...Here in America, his ass wouldn't last a month!!! As a convict who spent 19 years in State prison (Tennessee) I can tell you, there's a respect of sorts between us Anglo convicts & law enforcement. Sometimes, that respect extends over to favors. You know what I mean.

Too right they're on pedastals Recently, in my home town, there is a girl who killed her mum, admitted on text to her uncle she killed her gran ( i saw the text on her uncle's phone), and made threats against her stepdad on FB, and a week later he was found dead in the street, and where is she now? Yep, walking our streets, creating hell. Same town, also recently, a prolific gang broke.into a post office, robbed tens of thousands, were all caught, high as kites, in one of their homes, 20 grand missing, and guess where they are now? Yep, released, walking our streets. Few months back a well know local drug dealer got raided, and hauled in. Money, drugs, assets, etc seized. Guess what happened next? Yep, released. Just last week there was hell going on when someone assaulted someone a couple of miles away. The Police helicopter tracked him/them all the way, and he/they got arrested not far from my home, chopper at this time only a few hundred feet above my house. Very dramatic it all was. I reckon you're ahead of me here, and know what's coming next. Yep, he/they got released, half an hour later. They didn't even see the inside of a police van. I don't know what the hell has happened to this country! 😡

Very glad I discovered your channel Sam. I knew prison staff have an almost impossible job, especially with overcrowding & lack of resources. What I never knew is just how complex the job is in terms prisoner management. No idea what prison officer's are paid, but whatever it is its not enough. Its more of a vocation like nursing & I expect the mental health nurses work closely with you. Thanks for all that you do.

The pay is crap. The overtime rate is good. Lack of staff, resources and a hostile environment. No support from management. The job drains your soul. Its a different type of fatigue when you get home. Always tired even on days off

Hi Sam great content as usual, hunger strikers….i remember being outside Wakefield prison mid 70’s watching a protest unfold about Frank Stag an IRA member who refused food and died within its walls whilst on hunger strike, big big news at the time but didn’t really grasp what was happening in those days, think i was only about 14 at the time and it is one episode that always sticks in my mind. Not sure why he was in Wakefield. I later did a tour of the Maze during the more known about hunger strikes in 81 which were bad times. Anyway hope you are keeping well, Robbo 👍

Good officer without a doubt and yeah we would have crossed paths possibly, I served a few small sentences in the ways back in early 2000's one was a gate arrest from HMP Exeter transported all the way to strangeways and put on I wing which was basic/ punishment wing simply as there was no cells available lol gutted as obviously I had to follow I wing protocol 😂 Anyways Mr Samworth appreciate your podcast giving some of the lads the opportunity to have their say keep up the great content been subscribed for well over a year and being a Salford lad myself, grew up with Paul massey, greggo, doyley, lydiate......... Respect to the real ones 💯

Hi Sam. Food refusal paperwork: Forms 1016 - A, B & C and that’s after 27 years of retirement😂. Same experience when we received Sutcliffe (the ripper) at Armley Prison, Leeds. Queues of ‘interested’ people lining up so that they could tell their friends that they had seen the ripper. Chaplains, Probation Officers, Board Of Visitors, Official Prison Visitors and the prison cat all wanted ‘their day of fame’. Cheers Sam.

I had one inmate who was on hunger strike. He was kept in his cell on our Hospital Wing 24 hours a day. He was provided with three meals a day and the tray was scrutinised prior to putting it into his cell and we left it in there until we replaced it with the next meal. It sounds cruel but it does crack someone seeing food lying there if they are not determined. We also monitor the food leaving the cell. The inmate I dealt with didn’t have visits so that wasn’t an issue and he wasn’t really an arsehole but he cracked after 3 weeks. He was protesting the life licence system of which he was onto a complete non winner and came to his senses. I hated your CAt A inmates who really thought they were someone and were complete dickheads, they would normally come back on to the Hospital a Drew weeks later after a good slap from someone who had been around a bit though.

im from droylsden, was in the barbers there after the events, quite often had coppers in there and the like This copper was telling john the owner that the police knew cregan was in that house in hattersley and sent those rookie cops there knowingly. im not saying this is true but its what i heard. on a side note you can see strangeways tower earily from where his family lived near the bus terminus at greenside lane across clayton vale. all the best to you Neil 👍

@@RealPorridgePodcastmister samworth have you been one of main screws prison officers lmho😂 whom has been locked in a category a prison cell for a night or yo just to experience what it's like for these Kate prisoners and people who have caused by defences Dale cregan is one of many people not just Dale Krieger news dangerous I live in erdington Birmingham and is the most dangerous place in the United Kingdom there's lots of (Dale cregan wont a bees) like I said around here so prison system is a revolving door same faces all the time the system is designed for addicts and people with any addiction to cause crime people and scripts how many people sell their scripts to buy drugs all of them it's a catch 22 cos they put you on opiate scripts and different scripts that take yours to come off some people never come off on very very very very very lucky experienced prisoner experienced life on sides of the coin so I think I'm a good judge like Mr samworth cos your first hand experience iv neen a maper

4 tear 3 so i no like i said i wad all so British aba champion in 1988anf 1989 school boy champion my partner committed suicide 10 before my birthday i loved her so much she all so been through the prison system i no mister samworth people like yourself are different to ex prisoners because being a screw whom seen both side iv done bird with Dale cregan he was on the seg when i was there treated like a king lol no just the highest profile prisoner (most) prisons have ever held so i yhink myself governors in hire people like the security they should know everything its silly but profile for cat A high security prisoners itd a joke 99.8 percent of the time the prisoners know more than the screws and security that's a fact
