Copper Chops and PC Board Trim/edges metal recovery on MBMM shaker table

This was a fun video to make! I have never seen so much metal on one of our shaker tables. This customer brought up some copper wire in various stages through his copper chopping line and wanted to see if we could recover the copper better than his air table. We found that we could recover very clean copper (as long as it was liberated from the insulation) at every stage of his copper chopping line. The best part was watching the copper we could recover on our wet table that was missed by his air tables. We estimated that we recovered somewhere around 5-10% more copper from his waste!
He also brought a sample of trimmed PC boards and edges from the manufacturing process. These board pieces don't contain any components so they could be crushed and the metal liberated very easily in our PCB grinding line. The boards had plenty of copper that was recovered, but also lots of gold was contained on the boards and edges. The customer was very happy with the results of both of these tests. Please let us know your thoughts on our videos, thanks for watching

Once you talked about the plastic sheet I realized how the copper was being pulled under if it was ultra light weight. I see in the comments some mention of using soap, however I can only see increase in cost and time, not sure? I will say once you laid the plastic sheet on you were cooking with gasoline. INCREDIBLE. I have been recovering CPU Gold for years, haven't done anything with the majority of it, yet. I did send in to an internet scam company that claims online how much they will pay you for the material, but were disturbingly a rip off outfit. I will have to subscribe and watch as you do things. The video was excellent in many aspects. I knew some guys that did this with drywall, producing the granulated lime, then reselling it to farmers for fertilizers on potato fields. They got paid when someone dumped it, and when they sold it, the cost of processing and the bigger companies have since taken over, I guess. Seeing your setup was a real treat. Thanks

Thanks for the comment. When the customer arrived they wanted to run all the material before their granulator at once and then everything after their granulator together as well. We did three different runs: 1st material was the board trim, 2nd was material through their single shaft shredder (longer wires, some unliberated) this was section 7:13 - 8:07 Did really well if it was all liberated (com wire wasn't liberated for example and brought some plastic into the #1 and #2). The last section of the video was the material through their granulator. That did the best over all. So the two buckets at the end with the copper wire were an example of all the granulator samples run together in the smaller bucket, and the larger bucket was all the single shaft shredder material run together. These were just part of the copper recovered as the customer took a large amount with them for sampling. I hope that all makes sense, its kinda long winded and complicated. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again

Hi Jason, I wonder would happen if instead of using the plastic sheeting to brake the water surface tension what about dish soap? This would also help to lubricate the particles as they go over the ribs on the table. I was also wondering of the shaking of the particles charges them and re attracts them to the other particles . I once built a machine that separates plastic (3 ata time) but it was a dry system. We used static and electromagnetic

I'm out on Guam (a US territory). I run operations for a tech company and accumulate about two, 40ft containers a year of e-waste. Guam does not have a recycling program. I'd love to pick your brain to try to get something set up here. Either that, or figure out a recycling channel off the island to move all this.

My comment remains that while your equipment make great sense for medium to large operations that the is a huge small market for those that want to test a recycling idea or simple are not big enough to be putting tens of tons of material through each day. 1 ton of material in 4 to 8 HR. May be plenty to turn a nice profit and while I realize that small is a lot more work for a smaller profit there is no one there for the little guy I mean you are it and still way to large for some things.
