The article for the battle in the Essential guide always gave me serious Aaron Allston vibes, like a lost X-Wing series short story that he could have written before his unfortunate passing.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Fry consulted with Allston on ideas as it is very much the type of plan you’d see in one of his books and I think it was written before his death.

Funny how in canon(where most worlds defected and in general there wasn't as much fighting as in legends) the battle was larger and took the New republic to take Kuat longer

I remember kuat had an outer rim shipyards granted as a reward for clones wars and imperial support built to mass produce isds

This version of the capture of Kuat is always been so much more interesting to me than the new Canon's one in this one it's an interesting political/corporate maneuver coupled with a cool little fighter pilot section and everyone involved makes decisions that make sense for what their motivations are and in the new Canon one it's just "B-wings shooting AT-ATs on the rings of Kuat isn't that a cool visual" but like pretty much everything in the new canon if you think about it for more than a second it falls apart and doesn't make any sense

Maybe some are automated? Laser cannons and turbo lasers can be automated

Is a Imperial Star Destroyer a battleship?

With the exception of the Tector-class, Procusator-class (because smol) and Allegiance-type, pretty much all the Star Destroyer classes are carrier-battleship hybrids (though the Victory-class sacrifices some hangar space for space combat ability, and the Venator-class is a great support carrier but a middling battleship). The Imperial I is arguably the most balanced of these, even when uprated. The Imperial II has more armour and heavier guns but relies on its fighters, heavy armour, and escort frigates to defend against B-wings attempting a trench run....
