I really like the idea of logistic/production supply given to those sector fleets Like mobile shipyards or bases

Fantastic as always, thank you for the great content! I think a video specifically dedicated to discussing shipyards and ship building related stuffs would be dope, just thinking out loud though 😉

An interesting video, though it's unclear how many vessels the Yevetha captured compared to how many they constructed. The start of the novels states that only a bare minimum of vessels in the docks were left and the Yevethans made copies, Ackbar notes that four Star Destroyers share identical IDs later, so it's most likely the Yevethans only captured around a dozen initial vessels and then just copied them over the next twelve years. Since we see that just between the end of the crisis and the Yuuzhan Vong wiping them out eleven years later that with far fewer shipyards the Yevetha had built "Dozens of capital ships and thousands of Thrustships" it's certainly feasible that they could have constructed around forty of the fifty one Imperial style vessels from the BFC. It's also unclear if the Yevetha ever had all three Super class ships, that some of the vessels-such as the Harridan had been withdrawn already and were likely destroyed lends credence to why the standard thought of the fleet was it had been destroyed.

@Joshua Sharwood Well the details on the New Republic blockade are somewhat vague. Some accounts mention the New Republic kept a close eye on the Yevetha, others mention they just closed off the Cluster and other hint that no one had been in the Cluster since the Black Fleet Crisis, so there's a lot of contradiction and conjecture with very little to support any of the theories. We know they destroyed two of the Three shipyards the Yevetha had, so the Yevetha didn't have to start from absolute zero, in fact the destroyed yard we see in Force Heretic I is likely the one the New Republic missed and as you pointed out the Thrustships were built planetside, so each of the thirteen worlds the Yevetha had could have been producing them, the New Republic seemed satisfied with just destroying their naval forces and shipyards, they don't seem to have tried to disarm the Yevethan worlds themselves-likely wanting to avoid years of bloody insurgency with no real payoff. What seems most likely is they walled off the Cluster after destroying the Yevethan forces and left it at that with some drone observation at long range. The moment the New Republic left, the Yevetha fired up their last shipyard into overdrive and all the worlds started cranking out Thrustships. What's interesting is that none of the new capital ships were Imperial designs, hinting at either copied New Republic designs from scans taken during the crisis or new indigenous designs or even a fusion of the three styles, but the Yevetha apparently completely abandoned using Imperial designs after the previous ones were hijacked-likely to prevent that from happening again. The Vong certainly had to have brought an armada with them when they hit the Yevetha to so completely annihilate the massive fleet there. I don't think the Vong came to take any slaves though, the seem to have come in purely to wipe out the Yevetha based off the glassing of N'zoth and the other worlds and we certainly know the Yevetha wouldn't have surrendered and as a general rule would kill themselves before capture by a 'vermin' as even one offered aid by Jaina chose to self destruct rather than be contaminated by their aid. Granted this battle would also have been heavily in the Vong favor since the Vong would have had access to all the data on the Yevetha and their combat capabilities, the Fia likewise probably had at least some spy drone data on the forces in the Cluster, so the Vong could have tailored their attack to perfection. Plus this would have been the first time the Yevetha had to face Dovin Basals, Yammosk War Coordinators, Grutchins and plasma cannons, all of which devastated New Republic, Hapan, Imperial, Hutt, Chiss and other militaries when they were first encountered.

With the fleet being captured while trying to get to byss, could that mean the yeveathan knew where byss was located? I mean its coordinates must've been in some navicomputer?

Very good and informative video as always corey. Though regarding Intimidator and other ssds, that the yevetha had by time of the black fleet crisis. As black sword dry dock had the ability to male and maintain executor class destroyers, do you think it was the case of them already having one in service before loss of the sector post endor, given back water sector position or Yevetha nicked the intimidator and usedf it as blueprint to build two more? As remember that in black fleet crisis books was stated that that the yevetha had used ship building prowess to build more imperial and thrust ship designs to supplement their fleet.

I thought Black Sword Command was ordered by Isard to reinforce coruscant or something similar, where’d you find the stuff about Byss?
@DIEGhostfish
@DIEGhostfish 2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe they had any standing order about Byss, but the surviving officers knew there was(Emphasis, Was) an Imperial base on Byss and were using it as a rally point.
@grandadmiralzaarin4962
@grandadmiralzaarin4962 2 жыл бұрын
Allow me to clarify this. The Isard bit was a partial explanation on why the fleet was originally believed to be destroyed, the Byss mention is actually in the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy as that is where the fleet auto jumps to when the Imperials retake the ships at the end(spoilers) and after finding out the planet and Emperor had been dead for a few years they split up and joined various factions. The fleet received two sets of orders. The first was to scorched earth and reinforce Imperial forces in the Core, that came from Isard. However, these were superseded by orders from the Reborn Emperor on Byss to retreat there, likely early preparation for Shadow Hand years later, also probably because the Black Sword Command vessels were all slave rigged which reduced their need for crew by a factor of 10(for instance the Intimidator ran with only 15,000 crew during the Black Fleet Crisis instead of the usual 250,000 and minimum 150,000) The final fate of the vessels are as follows. Intimidator: Abandoned as a derelict in Unknown Regions/destroyed by unknown forces. Aramadia: Abandoned, recaptured by Yevetha, turned into museum ship on N'zoth. EX-F and two advanced ISDs: joined Pellaeon, EX-F destroyed at Anx Minor. Four Victory Class Star Destroyers: joined Deep Core Replacement Warlords. The rest of the fleet joined the New Republic.

@@grandadmiralzaarin4962 I feel like the Byss thing was more "They knew Byss was there" rather than specifically being under orders to go there before losing the fleet. The results for the fleet are honestly really weird. Intimidator I could see as "Oooh spoooooky did the Vong get it? The Chiss?" While Aramadia seems like Wizards of the Coast wanted a cool landmark even if it didn't really make much sense. EX-F's fate is also a little weird.

The BFC trilogy has its charm, but I think it was hampered by a foregone conclusion plot about Luke and Leia's mother, a very interesting yet distracting Lando/Lobot plotline that should have been its own novel, and, according to some fans, Leia being mind-addled a bit. Still, the war scenes (complete with newer NR tech like E- and K-Wings) are nice to read. Gotta love moments like this in fact and fiction. Also, Nil Spaar's karmic demise has to be seen to be believed.
