What your saying is about tyre footprint and you get more grip from middle than the side ,as for the rest it's vaig as different type of corners require different way to approach exit them , a tight exit you wanna weight shift fast bringing bike up straight causing a bigger footprint ,you wouldn't be thinking of spinning nothing on them corners as it's shifting the bike matters more . Wider exits you try not to spin as it shreds tyres faster , your gonna get a little squirm getting on the throttle but don't think to try an spin up the rear as it will on limits of the grip when accelerating harder . You want a small amount of squirm not slide , edge of traction is faster then sliding .getting a bike setup straighter so you create a bigger footprint on the exit gives better exit speed as your trying to eliminate a slide more getting focusing on traction .when the bikes squirming on edge of grip is fastest , sliding is not . To do any sliding only when your got plenty of meat on the tyre and your first place and showing off or your cutting it finely up the inside to force someone to sit there bike up losing there turning angle so they back off the throttle a bit or risk dumping it off the track .you slide to much and you risk them dipping in harder and firing up the inside from behind you , sliding looks and feels good but the squirm is point of traction where your at max attack for the straight

In the video I don't talk about the footprint of the tire, because the foot print of a modern tire doesn't really change as much as you would think when you change the lean angle. You have more grip when you have less lean angle because the suspension works better when the bike is less leaned over and because of the direction of the forces acting on the tire, not because of the size of the contact patch changing. ......... Also, what you refer to as the tire squirming I talk about in the video as trying to get the tire to churn, I think we are actually on the same page here. I talk in the video about getting the tire to the edge of traction and getting it "churning" for the best drive, not really spinning it. Good stuff, I love the discussion.

@@stumanrides ha ha nice comment , I think it's just the terminology of what we call things , same page and book just a different book cover ha ha , you may not think it but I goto admit I absolutely love sliding a nice handling bike , comming mid corner and just whacking throttle hard leaned loads counter on sliding smooth then big(churn ha ha am learning your lingo) snap and up she comes , goto be fun on that track at times with dust making it slicker . Some of the best races I ever seen been on them type tracks as sliding isn't an option as it just happens cause of dust ,your limiting the slide to find traction . Like king sideways Kenny he loved the loser circuits as suited his earlier days tracking

I've heard quite a few mentions on multiple channels about standing the bike up coming out of corners but I've never heard a good explanation of how it is done. The MotoGP commentators talk about it a lot and Simon Crafar mentions it in Motovudu where he says you are literally pushing the bike up. This doesn't make sense to me especially when coming from maximum lean because your outside arm would be stretched out as far as it goes. Every time I watch MotoGP I try to catch what they are doing in the slow-motion shots or normal speed but never really see it. I suspect they are steering to stand the bike up in combination with throttle which also stands the bike up. I've tried it and it feels right but still uncertain if it's the right way to do it. Any advice?

I know I’m late responding, but I could use the insight if you would…? I’m struggling standing my RSV4 up out of corners as I am still off to one side. I try not getting back center saddle until the up shift momentum, but I can’t up shift with my size 13 boots while still off the side! I’m still running standard shift, so I’ll eventually get GP shift, so I’m not having to dig my big foot underneath, thus upsetting the bike. Any tips or advice? Feels odd trying to get back to WOT still hanging off, but I’m trying to do it correctly now so I don’t learn bad habits. Thank you, love the channel, looking forward to more content!

I’ll answer my own question as it’s been a year without a response… don’t shift mid corner when possible, so use short shifting to get the correct gear before max lean angle. I have race shift now, so shifting is much smoother when at lean, but I still won’t try shifting at full lean, too much can upset the bike. 😐
