Watch CMoG’s master glassmaker, Jeff Mack, create a replica of the elaborate Guggenheim Cup, thought to have originally been made in Venice in the 17th century. Inspired by a version made by Giuseppe Barovier in the late 1880s, which now resides in CMoG’s collection, Jeff creates his own iteration in this livestreamed demo.
See the final piece starting at 1:48:27.
In our new live demo series, Bring the Heat, join us for a live stream of glass artists demonstrating their expertise and skillful execution while “in the zone.” During each demo, an artist will present a personal design they’ve worked to perfect, and they will be live on the mic to narrate as they work-a rarity for live artist demonstrations and a first at the Museum.

Great work Jeff, Katy and Eric! Those massive cup trims are impressive! Think my replays made this 3 hours. Jeff can open feet/cups, lay down an ovolio like no one else, but dare I say Eric’s stem punty was nothing short of touching a new born baby kitten on the forehead.

I may never get to try this for myself, but I have genuinely learned so much from this wonderful channel, thank you! Barbra, Ireland Edit: wonderful innovation there with the compressed air, fantastic! Necessity is indeed the mother of invention 😉

Did anyone else notice the shadow of the goblet on the ground while Katy was boxing the piece? Fine work 🤙

why you guys do not use twitch streaming as well for the live streaming? this way we can become members to help a bit the museum in a hard time ...

Twitch is mainly for gaming, live chat, and cosplay. The art section is almost all computer animation, anime, body art, crafters and food. All art but not a group I’d think about for the Corning Museum Of Glass. Also you can belong to any museum, and donate, become a member. Simply look up any museum. And you’re correct museums, zoos, botanical gardens, etc are in need of help through this time. As for youtube, subscribe, like and watch every ad until it’s ended.

Does the original cup that Michelangelo Guggenheim showed them still exist?

I love this. But I truly feel as if you really missed a big opportunity. C-MOG could be pronounced Smaug.

What a boring narrator... come on guy, give some some random facts.... ask the audience random quiz questions of basic glass knowledge of what they've seen and learned so far.... TALK ABOUT YOUR DAY if all else fails... dang... I'll work for you guys...

Nooo he rather spends all the time telling us how little he understands how the immunesystem work or at what temperatures supposed viruses survive. Proud little mask mutant.

Jeff pulled off one of the most difficult pieces known to humans. If Eric was to speak about lollipops and ice cream, it’d be distracting
