Hilda was the star of the show in the 80s, she delivered in every scene she was in. Whether it was her nosiness, her gossiping, the truly poignant moments, even just her walk down the street, she was in a class of her own, I miss her interactions with Stan, Annie and elsie

This is the real Coronation Street, the scene with Hilda visiting Stans grave was beautifully written, just pure realism and a scene people could relate to. If it was today's Corrie then Stan's mistress,who would never have appeared on screen before, be waiting at the Grave coincidentally and herself and Hilda would end up in a brawl, the writers would include this just for the sake of it.

Very good month for Corrie, with the exception of the Mike Baldwin and Susan Barlow wedding. It looked very uncomfortable for all and felt about as likely as a union between a gangster and Little Bo Peep. Not that it takes long for Susan to turn into a harpy. She really was thoroughly unlikable.

Did Coronation street keep Ken because he turned out to be grey and despicable, and yet retained misplaced respect because he'd been to university? Educated, against a backdrop where most people weren't, his narcissistic tendencies flourished. Making him a foul man.

The "Don, the Best Man" here is actually Don McCorkindale, stepson of Freddie Mills. He also appeared in Carry On Cabby as one of the drivers, when he was very young.
