Sure, I understand your point. The reality on the ground is that everybody is open and functioning at the moment. I am currently visiting the Pacific coast area and restaurants are open and packed, beaches are open and everybody having a good time. Costa Rica is one of those countries that if you try and look for common sense - you will never find it here. A lot of things simply do not make sense

I would think so. At the moment it is pretty open and our beaches are full and everybody is out and enjoying the summer. Like everywhere else we had the omicron break out but so far the government opted for leaving everything open. We also have elections on Feb. 6th so no politician wants to be the one to shut down the Economy right before an election. There will no change since that regulation was suspended and the government instead is switching to a voluntary system rather than fighting the appeal which could take years. As of this moment from my personal experience in San Jose and a few of the Pacific Coast areas I have visited they are all open for business and I did not see any restrictions or requests for QR Codes and I would expect it to remain the same during the rest of December. Also, the official website indicates that the only current requirements for entry are completing a health pass. Those that are vaccinated can show proof of vaccination and will not need to purchase any health insurance. Those that are not vaccinated will have to purchase health insurance coverage. Check the website of the Costa Rica tourism board for the latest entry requirements: www.visitcostarica.com/en/costa-rica/planning-your-trip/entry-requirements Here is the summary from the official site: 1. Complete the digital form called HEALTH PASS, available at salud.go.cr The Health Pass can only be completed within 72 hours prior to arrival in the country. It must be accessed via updated browsers with the exception of Internet Explorer. One form must be completed per person, including minors. All tourists must complete the Health Pass. 2. Travel Policy Tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and individuals aged 18 and younger (even if unvaccinated) can enter the country without a travel policy. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days prior to arrival in Costa Rica. Unvaccinated individuals aged 18 and older or with unauthorized vaccines must purchase a travel policy that is valid for at least 5 days and covers accommodation and medical expenses in the event of COVID-19 infection.

Hi and thank you for your comment. On the contrary. They are starting to lift restrictions and I have not seen any businesses requesting vaccine information to date. I don't think you will experience any limitations at the moment.

I understand what you are saying. And, If you lived in a bubble that would be great. But, because you are not vaccinated. If you get the virus. You could die or cause a mutation of the virus that could harm vaccinated people. You see if the virus only hurt you. And you didn't care if you live or die. That is one thing. But, if you get the virus you are now like a dragon. And with every breath you are putting people's lives in jeopardy. It's almost like a person with hiv, saying it is my right to keep on having unprotected sex. I shouldn't be made to wear a condom. So, if my actions kill someone else. So what.

Hi thank you for watching and your questions. So far despite the increase in cases the government has not changed the entry requirements. This is the current (today) statement from the official government website "The Government of Costa Rica does not require tourists entering by air, land or sea to present a negative COVID-19 test, nor quarantine upon arrival." This is from www.visitcostarica.com/en/costa-rica/planning-your-trip/entry-requirements so just keep checking the official government site and I will also post any changes since we never really know what twist and turns are ahead but so far it has been open.

The health order that was suspended indicated that it applied from December 1st forward which means it was the intent to carry over through 2022. However, it is currently suspended. That is our peak summer month and we also have elections in February. So far no new announcements. I think they are waiting to see what this new variant does and based on that I am sure we will hear some updates. For now it is business as usual and everybody is out and about preparing for Christmas here.
