• In this tutorial, I take you through my costume build process step by step by using inexpensive thrift store clothing, paint, and craft foam. I show you how to make a unique screen ready costume inexpensively. You can apply these techniques to build your own film costume and OC cosplay pieces.

Your channel was recommended by a dude on a low budget filmmaking group on FB. I subbed without hesitation. I''ve been craving something just like this to get me out of my creative slump and I thank you so much for sharing your genius!

Man, I wish I lived near your goodwills... the ones around me arent as nice us big boys when it comes to the cooler stuff like that jacket. And that floral spray paint is great! Also works for wigs, as long as you don't get it wet. Have you ever tried aging with coffee or shoe polish? I love using liquid shoe polish for some of my props and costumes.

Yeah, I have weathered with many mediums. I prefer water-based acrylic paints. Shoe polish works but it has a strong odor and with coffee, I prefer that for paper. Whatever works! it is all good. I once submerged a costume in a pool for a week. The beating sun & chlorine did a very cool job of it ;)

This turned out brilliant. It looks good when worn. That blue spatter, you don't always see it but when you're moving around it comes in to play to great effect. Well done.

Wow. Looks really great. Like what you said, the paint splatters do actually make the costume come to life. I'm going to have to try and do something like this sometime. Really awesome. It looks so cool with the goggles

The slouch in the visored cover (military term for hat, BTW) is based on US Army Air Corps "50 Mission Crunch", where the supporting ring around the top edge of the hat is removed, and the rest of the hat "crunches" to accommodate earphones for bomber aircraft. Usually just used by officers (pilot, copilot, navigator, sometimes bombardier). Enlisted men usually wore the leather or fabric flying helmet.

thank you so much! Glad to know the history of that and of course it makes perfect sense now, they needed the headset to fit?!?!? Love that

@@createscifi If you look hard enough, you can probably see these covers in WWII movies like "Twelve O'clock High", "Air Force", or "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo". The mirrored aviators and cig or stogie is, of course, optional.

Rewatched this at home (saw it on the phone this morning).... 2:10 -- a fake cigar and/or pipe and/or cigarette prop would be neat.....

Yeppers Anthony. The camera "sees" things differently than the human eye. Studio lighting and natural sun light also have different feels.... ..... I think that aspect (and florescent, incandescent, halogen, LED, ect) lighting all have different color tones and even with a moderate amount experience it takes a while to "get the eye" for how a prop or costume might look under different lighting conditions than the lights you're using in the shop. PS Just placed the inspiration for the shirt. Logan's Run?

Fantastic work, as always. I have an old leather jacket which is now calling out to me to be customised - not for film, just so I can wear it out and about!

Anthony, what is it you do in film making, like are you independent, working for a company, hiring yourself out? Also, with regards to colour, look at the stormtrropers and their blasters next you watch the film. They are slightly off white, and their blasters aren't just black! haha exactly like you say =)

DW yes I freelance in the film world and when I cannot raise money for my own projects to keep the party going I do these no-budget productions as I am demoing currently with "Zenith Run" But the short answer is I freelance, I live in Los Angeles so that is quite common here and there is a decent amount of work and a strong community of like-minded people
